Thanks for your perfectly pitched tutorials Rob. All I ever wanted was to let my creative juices flow. You bring out the best in the wonderful Elektron kit.
I've just bought one of these second-hand now the new one is out and want to thank you for these tutorials they are such a great help to us that get brain fog from a manual. Cheers buddy
Don't get me started on that manual!! There are sections I read over and over, and when I finally got my head round the function (with help from elsewhere), I read them again to see if I might have understood them. Nope! Quite opaque. It's a big mistake to get the design team to write the manual, which is exactly what they did. Glad the vids are helpful.
These alerts on YT are a bit broken - I can't find your question now! The 'theme tune' for the scenes tutorial is 'Coastal Range'. The full track is on Soundcloud here: soundcloud.com/seenfromspace/coastal-range
dig the trick with sample start points. I did something similar using slices. You can basically fit a whole song into a pattern using scenes for this if one was inclined.
Thanks for this tutorial I would be interested to know how one would integrate an Octotrack iin a traditional Berlin School setup with an analog sequencer and Moogs
Yes please to more tutorials - if possible about using the OT as a main hub, as i will mostly be using the OT to perform live - I am running my rytm and a4 into it as thru machines... my goal is to set up one main project with all effects setting the same for performance - then simply changing the sound pool samples...
I made most of these tutorials after I was made redundant and had quite a bit of spare time! I'll bear it in mind if I get into the tutorial groove again. Very glad this is useful. This guy's tutorial on parts and patterns is pretty clear: th-cam.com/video/zmmGyBp16dY/w-d-xo.html He's right it's not clear at all from the manual. It took me ages to figure out that it was the pattern that governs which part plays, and not the other way round.
from that reply you found another job so that's great too. I think the mastery of your knowledge is that you knew what effects to use to make the transition and that there is the skill.
I'm afraid cat and synth are both departed :-( Cat aged 16 went to the great synth cave in the sky, the MFB Kraftzwerg to eBay. The sound was a bit uninspiring for me in the end. I'm much happier with the Mother 32 - and it fits in a eurorack case.
Thank you! The different tracks are various synths, both hardware and software. From memory, Omnisphere, Access Virus C, Korg MS2000BR etc. All pre-produced in Logic before importing to the Octatrack.
Interpolation between scenes using start position (without slices) could start the sample in an odd place... which might be interesting; I ought to try that! OTOH, slices should guarantee that your sample will start where you intended. I'm partial to slices.
It certainly can start it in an odd place! I've made use of it for more legato sounds. Yes I can see slices would be better for percussion. Good call. So many different ways of cooking on the OT!
Superb tutorial.
Thank you boa!
Nine years later this video is still awesome! Even for the Octatrack Mark2. Thank you!

Thanks very much David.
damnnn this is incredibly helpful i learn so much from this thank you sirr

One of the best OT tutorials! And your own tracks are rad! They remind me of early Orbital!!
I didn't understand the OT manual at all! It seemed like a bit of a gap. Very glad it's useful :)

Seen From Space - Great! Thanks!
Excellent. sometimes even after years of having the OT you still learn the best. Thank you 🙏👌
thanks, this was a lot of stuff other Octatrack videos leave out.
Super fantastic tutorial with excellent examples! More Octatrack tutorials please!
Thank you very much!
Excellent tutorial, it’s one of the best I’ve ever scene..... nice track as well
You just made me buy an OT! I know where I'm going to when I run into trouble! Great tutorial!
Wow, I think a small commission from Elektron would be appropriate :o) !! Hope you get on better with the manual than I did.
Thanks - really really clear and to the point so glad I found this!
This is really helpful, thanks! (MK2)

Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful
You would make an excellent snooker commentator. Great tutorial btw
You're too kind: I was always rubbish at snooker, with no wisdom to impart.
Thanks All for your kind comments.
Only thought I had 2 scenes! Octatrack action this afternoon then. Great tutorial.
please just RTFM :)
2bitTank oh yeah, that thing.
cool tutorial! thanks for the work and well throught through explanation and good sound examples used!
Thanks for this tutorial I would be interested to know how one would integrate an Octotrack iin a traditional Berlin School setup with an analog sequencer and Moogs
these tutorials are fantastic, please do more
I certainly shall. More likely for the A4 than Octatrack. Thanks for your kind comments.
very nice octatrack tutorial!!

Have you seen this video? It's the closest I've done to what you describe. th-cam.com/video/IPs_gZaTIO4/w-d-xo.html
thanks!!
Yay! another video
That was an excellent 16 minutes worth, a tutorial on parts would be great too as you have a knack of teaching this stuff.

cool vid. my favorite thing to do is "play" scenes by holding down a scene button and choosing between different scenes rhythmically
Great and clear explanation, thanks a lot
amazing!
octatrackmk2 beginner. thank you
Love your cat! What kind of desktop modular synthesizer is that next to your Virus and Elektron gear?
I'm afraid cat and synth are both departed :-( Cat aged 16 went to the great synth cave in the sky, the MFB Kraftzwerg to eBay. The sound was a bit uninspiring for me in the end. I'm much happier with the Mother 32 - and it fits in a eurorack case.

great work mate!
Nicely demoed 🫡
man how did u cook this synth in logic?
super nice

16:20 Why not slices?
Hi. Please share any scenes + slices tips. Always curious.
