You have to know that her brother is 4 years older than her, and when they made this album, She was 14 to 16 years old, and they made it in his tiny bedroom at home . With no outside help. That in itself really makes it remarkable.
@JimGames they write together, but some songs She wrote herself and some he did . Billie was home schooled, and when she was 11 ,she had an assignment to write a song based on a movie or show She chose The Walking Dead . Her brother produced it ,again in the bedroom. It's called ( FINGERS CROSSED ) There is a newer song with the same title, but not the same song, Make sure you get hers . For two kids, you'll be impressed. Remember, an 11 year old wrote this .
Watching people experience an album that I've loved for so long is kind of weird. Their interpretation is always so different from mine, and I noticed while watching your channel that I never look past the lyrics. Like I hear it and have a surface level understanding of the song, so thanks for making me relive this album.
This was a collection of singles, and it hangs together as well as most albums put out by artists these days. But it is not an album. Billie and Finneas are at their best writing albums, as you’ll soon learn.
Loved your reaction to Billie's EP, but there are music videos to some of these songs that were totally her ideas and concepts--she used to be a dancer until she got injured---but her second love was making videos. She now directs them all herself. As you watch her videos, take note of her outfits in each one and you'll see they are represented in her "Barbie clothes:" in What was I Made For. As you watch her live, observe that her happy place is performing and interacting with her fans. Enjoy the ride!
You are going to love “When we all fall asleep where do we go?” It is such a great album and all the things you liked about this, Billie and Finneas perfected there.
She was only 13-15 y old here, and Finneas 17-19 and the attitude in her voice was everything here 🔥🔥. What a vibe this Ep and just from her voice! So many jazzy vocals parts and I loved this from her it was so unique jazzy/trap! And then the production amazing from her bother. They are so good together! I’m so excited for their future works! ❤️
Lmao the bridge of copycat wasn’t her being indecisive but was more of her telling the person what they want hear (basically pulling their legs) then ripping it all off at the end that’s why she said “psych” at the end
Very nice reaction - thank you. I'm a 69 yr old fan of Billie. I saw her in concert in St. Paul, MN on March 15, 2022 and Billie was/is awesome. These songs are, as you know - apart from "Ocean Eyes" [written solely by Finneas] from the mind of a 14-15 yr. old. In "Copycat" Billie is annoyed with someone copying her, and in a way "idontwannabeyouanymore" is Billie's response to that - you copy me, and what you don't know is, i can't stand being me - I believe "idontwannabeyouanymore" is a truly great song that will last [ and when you have time, I would suggest listening to Teddy Swims' cover of it - not for a reaction, but for your enjoyment]. "Bellyache" as Billie has said, IS about a teenage psychopath - her friends are dead and so is her boyfriend, and the only parallel to guilt is a "bellyache". Personally, I think "Hostage" is more about obsession that love - and it is perhaps the only music video which I actually believe, supplements the lyrics and song - many of Billie's other music videos are intriguing, and often exellent little movies, but all those songs are complete without a video - but "Hostage" is aided, I feel, by the video. Finneas wrote (solely) "Ocean Eyes", "Six Feet Under", "My Strange Addiction" and "Watch", and well as the monstrous hit "When the Party's Over". "Lovely" is Billie, Finneas and Khalid; "Bored" - for "13 Reasons Why" - was written by Billie and Finneas and Aaron Forbes and Tim Anderson. The CAMP FLOG GNAW show is excellent, as well as the MAHOGANY session of Copycat. 16 yr old Billie's interpretation of Michael Jackson's "BAD" for TRIPLE J "Like A Version" (Feb 8, 2018) is wonderful and her cover of Peggy Lee's "Fever" from July 27, 2022 [Tribute to Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee at the Hollywood Bowl - SoCalLiveitLive, July 28, 2022] shows Billie's stage presence and versatility.
I’m really hoping you’ll get into her 2 albums, definitely start with her first before her most recent. Also after that you should check out her tiny EP called guitar songs. You can really see how billie matures through her music and it’s an amazing journey to listen through. She wrote “When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go” with finneas in a darker time in her life so I think you’d enjoy that darkness you touch on here. Even her most recent album has those elements, along with growing understanding of herself and her life experiences. I think you’d love guitar songs genuinely, they’re gorgeous time pieces about specific moments in her life and the world. I’ll be back for your other reactions, love the videos, keep up the amazing work👍
i am so excited to see you Navigate her Discography and the magic of Billie and Finneas and the phenom they became which was very well appreciated by the music industry with the win of the majority of the Grammys they won from their first Album.
Btw, Billie and her brother Finneas write and produce all their music by their own:) the first two albums, they recorded in Finneas' bedroom in their childhood house
Finneas production is so great, although he's older than his sister, he still was quite young when he made all production for this...such a talented guy
I think its amazing Billie started at 13 and her brother Finneas who produces and writes with her 17, still only 21 & 24, I can never wait to see what they will do next, and I must say they never disappoint, can't wait to see your journey xx
Ohhh you are going to love her debut album when we all fall adleep where do we go? The main theme is nightmares, there is a lot of scary and weird production on there. Also as you like to react to live stuff I d recommend idontwannabeyouanymore - colors session as you love the song and this performance is so dope. Billie and Finneas are very versatile. Also you'd probably love NDA as you grew up on NIN. Also really fun song live. I ll see her in two days at a festival, have seen her before though and it was probably the best show I have ever been to. Crazy thing to say about a 21year old who is just getting better day by day but I guess it's true. Really enjoyed your reaction!
I genuinely love this album this much! I am so happy you listened to it and shared your perspectives!! An amazing ep debut from Billie, cant wait for your next Billie album reaction:)
I always remember that these songs were done in the basement of a couple of siblings that were 18 and 14 years old. There are some gems here. And this EP would start an increíble journey of Billie and Finneas, in my opinion, two of the best songwriters of this century. And Billie’s lyrics… always get you wonder, aren’t they? Even when she was 14
This Ep is the most successful Ep of all time mind you 😅 250 weeks on Billboard 200 and it has already sold 13M units worldwide and it’s still doing 4M daily streams! In the future Billie will have for sure every single of her 3 projects with +20M units sold. This is wild. It’s just something different in pop music and we need more artists like this. Something fresh more genres and experimental pop.
Thanks to remind me how in love I fall with this songs the first time I heard them now I can add the to my playlist again after almost 2 years of not hearing them
omg yes! can't wait for the other album reactions her discography and music videos are 10/10 She directed most of her music videos for when we all fall asleep where do we go
her brother who makes all her music together with her is also a very talented artist. i suggest maybe check out some of his music. my favorits are "I lost a friend" and "Concert 6 months from now" also the live performences of her doing covers on miceal jacksons "Bad" or Phantograms "you dont get me high anymore" are amazing. she totally rocked those
Hey - just wanted to say it is cool to see you going through the same emotions I went through when I first heard Billie back in the days. Now as a kind of “hardcore” fan it is so interesting to see “new fans” react to her music. Especially her old records. I also appreciate yout music knowledge. Have a nice day and sorry for my bad english hahah
Absolutely loveee your reactions, and been waiting for you to listen and experience Billie for a long time, and you finally did (after the earlier videos you did) and glad you appreciate her too! ❤️🔥
Then when you realize she was 14-15 when writing/recording/existing as someone with the capacity to make you feel so much just with her voice/inflections…i was literally shocked in 2017 when this came out and found out she was 16 years old…I’m probably 10 full years older than her…but I still had somehow been searching for the words/feelings I get from this album for years. Plus…like who does this well/is so authentically themselves on a first album or between the ages of 14-16?
Love the review and saaame. If I only knew, I should have known, I'll be her most number one avid fan of all times. So special unique creatures Bil and Fin 💚✨️
she recorded it when she was 15 she wrote the songs but her brother preduced them its really amazing to see the progress over the years you should listen to her debut album when we all fall asleep where do we go
I like how you picked up on the match at the beginning and end of ‘Watch’. But at the beginning it’s a strike of a match and the end is it being blown out
Here are two more ,before they were famous songs they downloaded for fun . SIX FEET UNDER. and SHE'S BROKEN . they do not use backup singers . It's all him and her .
My favorite thing about party favor is that in the voicemail, she only says "stay and blah blah blah" and then later in the song song, she says "and you'll hear stay and blah blah blah", so we hear only what he's listening to in the voicemail, but later we get the whole story.
great video, jim:) super excited to see how u dive into billie's and finneas art, which is so important to me. if I am to make any requests or suggestions, i'd love to see you give a special attention to the music video of "when the party's over", a song off of the album "when we all fall asleep, where do we go?", and maybe take a separated moment to hear "happier than ever", which I consider to be her best piece yet (with the honorable mention of her live performance at the grammys last year). thank you always!!
As for the lower and upper case - I can see the symbolism there as well - the first song is very bold statement and about "feeling big", whereas the second one is about "feeling low and small" etc.
Billie live is mesmerizing: Her legendary Mahagony session of "Copycat"f.e. Or try her live version of "The End of the World". Plus many singles that don't are part of an album but are insanely good like "Bored".
I love how this guy said “they’re all so different” AND HES RIGHT cuz people be saying “all Billie’s song sound the same” but they don’t LISTEN TO THEM like this guy does
I mean, this is their EP so it’s okay that you jumped one of the songs due to having reacted to it already, but for their albums you need to listen from start to finish without skipping any songs because they’re very much album artists and there are a lot of transitions and a story and order to their songs. She is so good
Oh lastly jim, i know u like billie as well and not sure if u realize theres a documentary called "the worlds alittle blurry" its long but it starts when billie was 13 and starts with ocean eyes coming out on the radio and then it goes threw finneas and billies journey threw making it and hiw they were making music right outta finneas bedroom!!! And it also shows her growing up and a bad relationship and growing up all in one. Its really impressive. Id def join ur patreon if u wqtch it. I think would be fun to watch with all ur patreons who are interested ❤🎉 again thank u if u read and or do this. U wont be disappointed. Crap id even pay for the month of the app its on for u to watch it!!! 😮😊
Hi jim dont know if u will see this since its on an older video but could u do more billie and maybe watch more. Billie videos?!! I think u have watched some but shes like taylor very creative and directs her own videos. Also id recommend the "mahogany sessions" its acoustic in an old abandoned building and its amazing. Thank u if u get to this!!!
There are a lot of people who will credit Billie only for the singing and credit the writing and production only to her brother. I think it's more comfortable for people to think that because thinking someone that young can be that talented is very uncomfortable for a lot of people. But both Billie and her brother Finneas have said over many interviews since the beginning that he writes some, she writes some but most they write together. Likewise, he produces some, she does others and most are done together. She never stops talking about how great her brother is and how grateful she is that he's been with her and working with her from the beginning. Despite that people will say he doesn't get '"the credit he deserves" (despite her constantly giving credit to him) and i think that's where this myth that he's the real and only talent behind her comes from.
I'm so glad you're checking out Billie and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on her two albums. Billie and Fineas are truly top tier artists. If you're still taking recommendations for live performances, I would say this one of the original song she and Finneas wrote with Hans Zimmer for the Bond film "No Time To Die" at the 2020 BRIT awards. th-cam.com/video/2I1ZU5g1QNo/w-d-xo.html Great vocal from Billie and it won't be a spoiler for her albums. I also love this live version of copycat with electric guitar and live drums, if only they would release a studio version of this arrangement th-cam.com/video/YL-A9cxL8JE/w-d-xo.html (Not one of her best vocal performances, just thought it was cool)
''If tear drops could be bottled there'd be swimming pools filled by models told a tight dress is what makes you a whore if i love you was a promise would you break it if you're honest? tell the mirror what you know she's heard before'' these lyrics can be so relatale both by experience and just feeling and thinking others feel like that too
I'm 40 years old, and I still find Billie's (and Finneas's) lyrics relatable - both how I felt at her age and how I still occasionally feel now... They are my favorite new artists from the last decade.
I think you should react to laufey if you haven’t listen to her music before. Her music is beautiful She recently is getting a lot of attention for her new viral song. You should start with her Album Everything I know about love
I think Copycat would make more sense if you didn’t miss the “psych” after she said she’d hate to see them go and she’s sorry. Best use of “psych” since 1995. I think you are going to like her next release (her first album) a lot, based on this reaction and what you liked. You’d probably like a lot of her videos too, which she plots out herself.
Copycat is simple really. She's calling out someone who's been copying her style and manner. That's it. It's a brutal take down of someone she wants to put back in their place. You're italic, I'm in bold.
So for Bellyache... it's more literal than you took it 😂 Billie said she thought it would be fun to write a song from the perspective of a psychopath. So it's literally about her committing a robbery with her friends, then killing them to take all the money for herself, while trying to outrun the cops.
Great reaction. I think she is an old soul, because she writes music beyond her age. The song copycat makes me think she has seen someone on the scene that is like her, but not as good as her. Then she is telling this person to try and come for, because I know you aren't as good as me. But you can try. I hate to see you go, because I like the competition, but since I am better, I had to send you off.
You must, if you can, check out Billie with "official videos" and studio recordings. There is a reason I say this. A huge part of the Billie reactions is US whatching how you react to the official videos. Billie & Finneas are lyrically, Sonically & Artistically (Videos)) Amazing. But one of the best Live is "NO TIME TO DIE" UK live version & "Bad" cover Michael Jackson People will leave suggestions like: When the party's over/ Bellyache/ bury a friend/ Every thing I wanted/ You should see me in a crown (vertical version only) if you dare😮 "idontwanttobeyouanymore" (vertical version only) You will see why I'm telling you this once you check out a few official videos Thanks 😀
Loved your reaction and X files poster ❤If you like lyrical, cinematic and interesting music I would love to follow you on Lana Del Rey albums reactions journey.
Bellyache was, not meant to be taken seriously. It's a story song as though she were a serial killer. That's why it's so confusing to you after all that depth 😄
Two kids writing, producing, and recording albums in their bedroom. Crazy
I will never get over it
When you think that the quality of what they do is fucking good, it gets even crazier.
And at FIFTEEN. Like wow
If you love dark themes and theatrical production you’ll love her first album “When we all fall asleep where do we go?”

It's easy to forget billie was only 16 when she recorded that
actually more like 14/15 at the time they recorded most of it, so insane

She sings ocean eyes when she was 13 😅 16 it was for her debut album. For This Ep Billie was 13-15.
14/15*
Me imagining how Jim will lose his shit when he listens to When the Party is Over (if he remembers Party Favor until then)…

So excited for you to react to the other albums love ur commentary
I’m excited for u to listen to the other albums and singles just subbed 🎉
This nothing compares by her new album happier than ever. You need to react to it
I mean, this is their EP so it’s okay that you jumped one of the songs due to having reacted to it already, but for their albums you need to listen from start to finish without skipping any songs because they’re very much album artists and there are a lot of transitions and a story and order to their songs. She is so good
She and her brother is just so talented ❤
pretty sure the whole bridge of copycat is sarcastic ‘I would hate to see you go’ is directly thwarted by the ‘psych’ at the end lmao
I really want to see your reaction to Maisie Peters's new album The Good Witch!
Do the whole "WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP WERE DO WE GO ?" In order #1 to #14 would love to see someone with your knowledge check it out
Oh lastly jim, i know u like billie as well and not sure if u realize theres a documentary called "the worlds alittle blurry" its long but it starts when billie was 13 and starts with ocean eyes coming out on the radio and then it goes threw finneas and billies journey threw making it and hiw they were making music right outta finneas bedroom!!! 😮😊
You gotta react to her debut album it’s amazing and dark
Please do next album review ‘When we all fall asleep where do we go 🙏🏻😁❤️
Hi jim dont know if u will see this since its on an older video but could u do more billie and maybe watch more. Billie videos?!! I think u have watched some but shes like taylor very creative and directs her own videos. Also id recommend the "mahogany sessions" its acoustic in an old abandoned building and its amazing. Thank u if u get to this!!!
I suggest listening to the Mahogany Sessions she did earlier in her career. Her acoustic moments are what made me a fan.
Thanks. the last song is part of this. You can tell these songs are thought out. You missed out on the whole piece, but thanks. I love BiFi!
&burn makes total sense as the closure for the album, at least for me. Also the titles watch & burn blew my mind the first time I heard it.

Great vocal from Billie and it won't be a spoiler for her albums.
I also love this live version of copycat with electric guitar and live drums, if only they would release a studio version of this arrangement

(Not one of her best vocal performances, just thought it was cool)
I think you should really listen to Billie‘s other albums, as well as Superache by Conan Grey and Five Seconds Flat by Lizzy McAlpine. 🥰
I always encourage people to check out finneas’s solo projects as well. Optimist was AMAZING!
''If tear drops could be bottled there'd be swimming pools filled by models
told a tight dress is what makes you a whore
if i love you was a promise would you break it if you're honest?
tell the mirror what you know she's heard before''
these lyrics can be so relatale both by experience and just feeling and thinking others feel like that too
I'm 40 years old, and I still find Billie's (and Finneas's) lyrics relatable - both how I felt at her age and how I still occasionally feel now...
They are my favorite new artists from the last decade.
I think you should react to laufey if you haven’t listen to her music before. Her music is beautiful She recently is getting a lot of attention for her new viral song. You should start with her Album Everything I know about love
You should listen to If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power by Halsey. I think you’d like that.
I think Copycat would make more sense if you didn’t miss the “psych” after she said she’d hate to see them go and she’s sorry. Best use of “psych” since 1995.
I think you are going to like her next release (her first album) a lot, based on this reaction and what you liked. You’d probably like a lot of her videos too, which she plots out herself.
you defo need to check out "guitar songs" by her
Copycat is simple really.
Everyone needs to up vote this so he can see what it's about.
I love your reaction pls do more billie eilish songs reaction
And now i am subscriber for you bro
Pls do lot reaction song for Billie eilish
Great reaction. I think she is an old soul, because she writes music beyond her age. The song copycat makes me think she has seen someone on the scene that is like her, but not as good as her. Then she is telling this person to try and come for, because I know you aren't as good as me. But you can try. I hate to see you go, because I like the competition, but since I am better, I had to send you off.
if you like this, and consider this to be haunting music that makes you uncomfortable, you should really listen to Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers.
You must, if you can, check out Billie with "official videos" and studio recordings. There is a reason I say this. A huge part of the Billie reactions is US whatching how you react to the official videos.
Billie & Finneas are lyrically, Sonically & Artistically (Videos)) Amazing.
But one of the best Live is "NO TIME TO DIE" UK live version & "Bad" cover Michael Jackson
People will leave suggestions like:
When the party's over/ Bellyache/ bury a friend/ Every thing I wanted/ You should see me in a crown (vertical version only) if you dare😮 "idontwanttobeyouanymore" (vertical version only)
You will see why I'm telling you this once you check out a few official videos
Thanks 😀
Loved your reaction and X files poster ❤If you like lyrical, cinematic and interesting music I would love to follow you on Lana Del Rey albums reactions journey.
If you like jazzy billie listen to 'broken hearted' by her
Did i miss ocean eyes
Should check out aurora, a norwegian artist
I think he's reacted to aurora already, here's the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL7P9lpkOxU6gNqrC4p8hV4lSAb5ae4yh4.html&si=04K_iG5Lq-5ppfHE
I would love to see you react to Melanie Martinez's album K-12!
I love watching people being exposed to billie and finneas’s brilliance for the first time..
Bellyache was, not meant to be taken seriously. It's a story song as though she were a serial killer. That's why it's so confusing to you after all that depth 😄
