Ben that hippo is completely amazing, those folks over at Solar Color Dust must be extremely pleased with your creations. On a side note I have a little 22 month old son named Lucian. As soon as I turn on any one of your videos and he hears tour voice he runs over and sits on my lap. He sits almost motionless focused watching your work. He really only love watching a few things, a couple cartoons and your videos. I hope it is somehow soaking into his mind and gives him an urge to be creative. Thank you for the videos. The two of us can't wait till the next one.
Ever thought of "epoxing" your son's first shoes? My sisters and my sister-in-law had them bronzed, it's a good souvenir. This was years ago, the kids are all over 30 now with kids of their own. Best wishes from Lisbon Portugal.
Ben - you are killing it! That is an awesome piece. Nothing better than getting off work on Friday and getting that notification of a new Ben's Worx video!
I am a new sub! I watch a lot who do the whole use of tools and sanding bit, but you are the first one who explained it and for that THANK YOU. I like knowing what's going on bit by bit, if only just a brief explanation like you do. Perfect video for a female with common sense, but doesn't need the whole book just the Cliff notes ;).
Ben: Love your videos…and your projects. They’re not just cool, they’re inspirational. Could you do a project w/o using any power tools e.g. lathe, sander, band saw and so forth?
Love the effect mate. It’s too cool to give away. I suppose that even if you did forget the mould release, the plastic pipe would shave away as well as resin.
That turned out amazing, Ben. Fantastic job! It inspired me to buy one of your dragon eggs for my girlfriend, which I just now did. She's gonna love it. Thank you from Las Vegas!
Another fantastic project, Ben. I was worried that the epoxy you used on the burl to hold it in the pipe wouldn't stick because of the mold release. I'm glad it did,.
1:44 please tell us about this device in a separate video, did you make it yourself, is it suitable for resin degassing or how does the overpressure device work?
Absolutely wonderful piece of work the hippo is so sweet you are amazing to I'm deffinetly going to get so of that glitter thank you so much for sharing yet again Bernadette xx
I love it! The hippo looks so cool in the resin standing on the wood. I thought he glowed, when you put your uv light it seemed to glow. Excellent job.
Great video again Ben, I now have my Pressure Pot, and Vacuum Chamber already to go to start my own resin pours, I do have a request / question, Can you do a video / tutorial on stabilizing wood, with an explanation of why its done, the liquid you used , and then the drying in the oven.
I am curious as to how you get your resin to adhere to the wood after you paint with acrylic paint and then cover that with colored uv resin without sanding or scuffing the surface. By the way your work is amazing! Also is the resin that you use a deep pour type? Thanks
Hi Ben love all your castings I had the same problem with the silvering (two Castings) looks good but not when its a gift for a child who rejects it at a full lob down the garden. Well I think its the type of plastic I even tried to cover one in spray lacquer still came out the same if you find out the solution let us all know to save having to look for the casting some where in the jungle called the garden. Dave
Very cool, I am really looking forward to when I start using the resin for my projects, but yet that is still some time away. I am only still a beginner. Very nice my friend.
Go for it ben you have nothing to lose, ive just started an online course doing photography, and applied to go college next year doin photography, college dont start till sept, cant work in a factory till i retire 😊
Thats good, is she a teacher, if so what does she teach,,,,,, also,,,, another question,,,,,, do you get recognised a lot from having your face on youtube🏴
Beautiful work, Ben! Love that bubble effect. Very cool. But I thought putting it into the pressure pot would take all of the air out? The bubble was a neat surprise though.
@Ben's worx you ever do a birds nest? I found this awesome birds nest today that would make possibly a good bowl but don't have a shop like yours to do something like it.
Please tell me you didn’t waste ANY of that left over glitter flake resin?!🤩😱 so pretty! Also did it really need to be turned? Since it was already a cylinder?
Nope I never waste my Pigments, even though i cast a cylinder to reduce waste, it still doesn’t come out perfectly round and I wanted to expose the burl too 👍
Very great work man love that big surprise at the ending with a glowing in the dark like that was cool can't wait to show off some of my new stuff on the Instagram myself plus maybe do a video for TH-cam finally took the time to test out one of the molds I bought can't wait to see the end result wish me luck
i could see that it was glow in the dark when you were using the UV light to cure the resin, which surprised me at the time.... but the chrome effect from the air pocket around it - now THAT was a BIG (and BEAUTIFUL) SURPRISE!!!
Just a quick idea make a PVC top with a one way valve and o ring at the base and use that as a vacuum and on ur star fighter video U ended up with a void of sorts try drill in to it and inject it in to gap or void will save having to start hope this helps rn anyway keep up the good work shared to everyone I no
Ben's Worx - how much do you recon you could sell these for? I was thinking of having an asking price of $100 (US dollars) but really thinking more like $75... that sound close about what you would get for it? And for the set of 4 (2 hippos and the 2 eggs, which I'm going to find and watch you make next) I wouldn't go ANY lower than $250. You put a LOT of thought, work, and expertise into these BEAUTIFUL, HANDMADE, ONE OF A KIND pieces of ART! - So I think with an upsell like that people would be happy to pay that. Hell with minimal care and a quick polishing these things are EASILY gonna last for more than 100 years. So what do you think? Am I too high, or too low? Or maybe I'm spot on. I know you're not looking to sell these (I think that's what you implied) but I mean online or in a flea market. (not saure if that's what you call sell it yourself market place down under) Anyways, keep up the GREAT WORK and I hope you have a fun successful time teach use lackies how to do the cool shit :)
Super awesome. Great content. May I please request that when your machines are on, could you turn down the volume for the video? I have it so I can hear you, but then the machines come on and it hurts the ears. Other than that super amazing and awesome job. Hugs from Halifax

I ordered several packets of the color shifting powders after watching you use them...I love them. Might have to try this one, too. Love the hippo!

As I haven’t got a pressure pot I would also love to know how your ‘homemade’ vacuum chamber is made/works ???? 💕🦆 Thank you in anticipation
I received the color changing egg and pen blank today.....They are AWESOME!!!!
Great! I’m glad you like them

Superb work, Ben. That's one Happy Hippy Hippo! 👍
Thanks Mate
That was absolutely amazing. Love it!
Thanks Sharon
That bubble chrome effect is very cool! I wonder if you could recreate that effect?🤔
Why did you use the entire vial of the chameleon flakes and what did you do with the leftover UV glue/flakes mixture?
I use it on other pieces :)

Happy accident :)
Great video Ben! You come up with some fantastic projects.

Thanks Molly, yeah when embedding items you never know what’s going to happen, it was a happy accident
Very clever and thanks for sharing your talent with us 😘
Thanks Ann :)
Great project, I love the hippocampus, he has personality. Well Done....
thanks Janet
You could put some kind of ink or paint on the edge of your pipe and press it against the wood to get the shape.
👍
Great video, I always forget my mold release when casting :)
Thanks Mate, yeah i do it all the time :)
Beautiful piece. Pleasant video.
Thanks Victoria
@Ben's worx you ever do a birds nest? I found this awesome birds nest today that would make possibly a good bowl but don't have a shop like yours to do something like it.
Can you tell us again where you got the hippo Ben?
solar color dust :)
Would money in either paper or coin form cast in resin? Maybe test it with toy money and metal scraps first.
Wow!! Amazing work! Thank you for sharing!
thanks Zoe
Nice project. How does the uv resin cure on the bottom of the hippo's feet? In other words, how can the uv light get to the resin?
Thanks Mate, it squeezed out the sides and i was able to cure it
Very very cool! Great job!
Thanks Kevin
I like the bubble layer. Any particular reason why it happened?
Yeah me too! I’m not quite sure
Big fan of your channel. In time line 7:12, what did you use to glue the pieces to either side of the resin block?
newbie here, what an amazing piece of art!
loved the glow in the dark affect. very cool
God bless

Nope I never waste my Pigments, even though i cast a cylinder to reduce waste, it still doesn’t come out perfectly round and I wanted to expose the burl too 👍
I noticed I would get that "bubble layer" if I embedded anything I made with a varnish or some other kind of clear coat on it.
The hippo glows in the dark!
Ben sounds just like Korg, Thor’s buddy made of rock, so I guess that he sounds just like Taika Waititi. I like this guy.
I totally thought it was chrome from the thumbnail. And I also thought it was a Mack hood ornament.
Great job mate, excellent 👍👍👍👍

What is the home made chamber again? Is there an episode? I'll look.
Sorry...can you put glass in a pressure pot?
I will have a video about it soon
Not sure I’ve never tried
Those flakes are awesome. I'm for sure going to get some for a future project. Do you have a good source for the burl you used here? Was it maple?
They certainly are! It was Mallee burl
What type of resin do you use please
I love your projects. I'm wondering if you sell them and the prices. Like for example this hippo or those eggs. Great job.
Thankyou, i sell items in my Etsy store www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx
Looks amazing Ben!! I have a mate getting into resin casting - and am regularly sharing your videos with him :o) Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Mate
Awesome work just would love it in a bigger size so hippo wasn’t so close to top or outside edge
where do you get your burl from.
Beautiful work....where do you purchase the Burl wood from?
Absolutely fantastic as per normal how about one with a Golf Gti Matchbox
Thanks Mate, i like your idea 👍
Very cool amazing job good stuff
'Hope it doesn't fly off and whack me in the face.' - exactly what I think any time I see a lathe
Hahaha
mate, what does stabilisation do? I saw you put it in a liquid in the vac chamber.
It fills voids in the wood to make it more dense
QUESTION: What is the purpose of that pump thingy that you pump up?
It stabilizes the wood
Hey. Quick question. What is it you're using to clean the sander?
Rubber cleaning block
Mate, that was a pleasure to watch. You have some skills. Subscribed. ATB David. UK
Thanks David 👍
How much money does epoxy resin cost I live in U.S. ?
Might be worth a try to stabilize it and in the stabilizing liquid add UV pigment.
👍
Well done!
Fantastic ben
Thanks Mate
Nice job !! 👍🏻👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Hi Ben, awesome.
Ps tell what is the wood?
Thanks.
