It was a tough day in that heat, not used to it and no shade anywhere on the trail. I took 3 litres of fluid with me and drank it all before I got back but still had the best of days, the views were brilliant and I had a real fun day. We loved this route, very memorable day. Two hour drive over, gggrrrr! Would love to get to the heart of the Lakes that quickly! Wish we had picked up Base Brown on our day, mind you it gives us a reason to do this route again! Hope you had a wonderful time in Majorca and the operation has gone well. Thanks very much for watching and this has to be one of my most favourite solo hikes in the lakes, always love it on Great Gable and it's funny how so many people walk straight passed Base Brown, me include lol. Back from from hospital yesterday afternoon but told again nothing strenuous for 4 weeks, as it the stiches burst they do not re-stitch, so it would be a lot longer to heal. The holiday was brilliant, did not want to come back but had to and brought back 242 clips to sort though to get a hotel and resort videos out of, so far I have been on 1.5 days and not finished one yet! I am a week behind with all things TH-cam so will have plenty of time to catch up over the coming weeks, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN i can’t believe we walked past Base Brown too. The day we did it Great Gable summit was plagued with biting flies, so ive got two reasons to do that route again! Great news about all being well from the hospital and its a wonderful feeling sorting through holiday clips! I took 363 clips in the Lake District this weekend. Thoroughly enjoying going through them!

A really toughie of an ascent going up Base Brown up that iconic ladder ... the views from Green Gable are fantastic but if that's not enough after Windy Gap you're off up Great Gable too 😀 WOW there's no stopping you today and with views like that , well that's a great reward for all the effort. Despite the relentless heat I absolutely loved this day and I have been blessed with 3 clear summits every time I have been on Great Gable and it blows me away every time. I was in hospital the morning after we came back from hospital but a long wait for 4-6 weeks for results and no strenuous hikes for 4 weeks, which why this was was so important for me. Hi Mr Alan I am back home from my filming trip Big Congratulations to you on marking anther milestone, 3KKKKKKKKKKKKK! The scrambling is always challenging for me. But the overcoming any obstacles is rewarding and satisfying. The waterfall is appealing and sounds of the waterfall is soothing. Hiking gives me such pleasure, Mr. Alan. But this is just beginning...haha OMG, this view is stunning 12:15 Many mountains in the UK have completely different feature than ones I hike here in the US with full of tall trees. They fascinate me... Oh, my, you cannot ask for better weather than today. OMGoodness, the rock field.. You gain a beautiful and remarkable triumph 16:00 Yahoo to the panoramic view. Sending my prayers and well wishes for a successful operation and a full recovery. Listen to your doc, Mr. Alan. forgive me, I will be watching the latest video after my sleep. I am exhausted from the trip and driving... Thank YOU.

Morning Al, just playing catch up on videos, I’ve never been up base brown either but walked past it a few times lol I’ve always done green/great gable either from honistor or styhead tarn. The views are just immense and you defo got the weather for it When I was last up great gable there was a full choir recording for injured veterans…not something I expected to see up there 😂 I always said Raise in the Langdale is the best summit for 360° views as it’s so central but you’ve not got the height on it, so I might need to concede and agree it’s got to be great Gable Hahahaha the cow doesn’t want you to leave Hope the operation has gone well and you’re back out soon Catch you soon matey
Got some good news last Friday from the hospital, which means another week and I can get back out hiking again. Almost dreading it in a way as I have done nothing for 4 weeks, no hiking, no gym, no swimming and had an all inclusive holiday, so my fitness levels have gone, so I need a nice easy one lol. Loved this from start to finish. Just a top effort in those conditions. My favourite fell by a long way. My first ever one and I’ve done it ten times now. Love it up there. Especially when you’re on your own. A true top of the world mate. Never done Base Brown though. Seems a lot of effort when you’re heading for the big one! So top stuff for doing it. Just back from holiday last night (brilliant time) and back from hospital at dinner time, no hiking for 4 weeks is going to drive me nuts but gives me time to catch up, I am way behind on all things TH-cam lol! The sketchy bit alongside the waterfall at the start looked enough to put me off, Alan. I wasn't keen on all the loose rocks on Great Gable either. The views are fantastic though and it seemed longer than 6 miles. You need to get over your Bovinophobia though 😄 Congrats on blitzing past the 3000 subs.

Hi Alan. The first time I did Base Brown I did exactly the same route as you. However, the last time I went up via the Hanging Stone (th-cam.com/video/7v1NRFmSFDE/w-d-xo.html), which is the path you couldn't find. It is rather vague all the way up. Hope you enjoy your hols and the op goes well.

It was a tough day in that heat, not used to it and no shade anywhere on the trail. I took 3 litres of fluid with me and drank it all before I got back but still had the best of days, the views were brilliant and I had a real fun day. We loved this route, very memorable day. Two hour drive over, gggrrrr! Would love to get to the heart of the Lakes that quickly! Wish we had picked up Base Brown on our day, mind you it gives us a reason to do this route again! Hope you had a wonderful time in Majorca and the operation has gone well. Thanks very much for watching and this has to be one of my most favourite solo hikes in the lakes, always love it on Great Gable and it's funny how so many people walk straight passed Base Brown, me include lol. Back from from hospital yesterday afternoon but told again nothing strenuous for 4 weeks, as it the stiches burst they do not re-stitch, so it would be a lot longer to heal. The holiday was brilliant, did not want to come back but had to and brought back 242 clips to sort though to get a hotel and resort videos out of, so far I have been on 1.5 days and not finished one yet! I am a week behind with all things TH-cam so will have plenty of time to catch up over the coming weeks, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN i can’t believe we walked past Base Brown too. The day we did it Great Gable summit was plagued with biting flies, so ive got two reasons to do that route again! Great news about all being well from the hospital and its a wonderful feeling sorting through holiday clips! I took 363 clips in the Lake District this weekend. Thoroughly enjoying going through them!

A really toughie of an ascent going up Base Brown up that iconic ladder ... the views from Green Gable are fantastic but if that's not enough after Windy Gap you're off up Great Gable too 😀 WOW there's no stopping you today and with views like that , well that's a great reward for all the effort. Despite the relentless heat I absolutely loved this day and I have been blessed with 3 clear summits every time I have been on Great Gable and it blows me away every time. I was in hospital the morning after we came back from hospital but a long wait for 4-6 weeks for results and no strenuous hikes for 4 weeks, which why this was was so important for me. I’ve always done green/great gable either from honistor or styhead tarn.
The views are just immense and you defo got the weather for it
When I was last up great gable there was a full choir recording for injured veterans…not something I expected to see up there 😂
I always said Raise in the Langdale is the best summit for 360° views as it’s so central but you’ve not got the height on it, so I might need to concede and agree it’s got to be great Gable

Got some good news last Friday from the hospital, which means another week and I can get back out hiking again. Almost dreading it in a way as I have done nothing for 4 weeks, no hiking, no gym, no swimming and had an all inclusive holiday, so my fitness levels have gone, so I need a nice easy one lol. Loved this walk, tough in the relentless sun but the views were amazing. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

My favourite fell by a long way. My first ever one and I’ve done it ten times now. Love it up there. Especially when you’re on your own. A true top of the world mate. Never done Base Brown though. Seems a lot of effort when you’re heading for the big one! So top stuff for doing it.

The sketchy bit alongside the waterfall at the start looked enough to put me off, Alan. I wasn't keen on all the loose rocks on Great Gable either. The views are fantastic though and it seemed longer than 6 miles. You need to get over your Bovinophobia though 😄 Congrats on blitzing past the 3000 subs.

Nice walk not been to Lake District this year
June apart not been the best of weather Tina and I never understand people traveling to the Lakes to have a days slog in the rain, so in a way I do not blame you. To be fair I caught a cracking day here and brilliant to get onto one of my favourite summits to admire that amazing view. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

I agree Alan, definitely Great Gable is the best or one of the best views in the Lakes. Congrats on the 3k subs, super achievement. When did you learn latin!!?? Definitely need a good boot as i found out yesterday that salomon gtx were no good for the scrambling bits😂. Need a nice sturdy sole
Sorry to hear that as those boots are not inexpensive at all but you are so right a good pair of tough, comfortable boots has to have a really good deep sole too. Hi Alan. The first time I did Base Brown I did exactly the same route as you. However, the last time I went up via the Hanging Stone (th-cam.com/video/7v1NRFmSFDE/w-d-xo.html), which is the path you couldn't find. It is rather vague all the way up. Hope you enjoy your hols and the op goes well.
