I don’t necessarily disagree, but I will differ on just one point (and it’s a small point). Animal Kingdom closes at 6 pm for the comfort of the animals. Not saying it’s not a half day park, just saying there is a good reason for it closing earlier and that it will always close earlier.
@@camgast7479 ya I listened to it. They were only keeping the avatar and Dinoland sections open though. That was to keep up with demand and still have the animals have some sort of calm. Now that demand isn’t there it closes at 6 again.
the only other person ive heard say that ioa and disneyland are the best two parks in america. i agree 100% and i am excited to see how epic universe will stand up against the two.
Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have been opened 26 years(AK) and 35 years (DHS) and they both feel like there should be double the attractions they currently have. And DHS may have built Toy Story land and Galaxys Edge recently but the park still feels off, like just doesn't feel like there's enough even though it probably has the most it's ever had and yet even with these two new lands many people preferred the park Back in the day with a more cohesive studios theme than whatever they have now!!
Quality of quantity, AK and HS have some of the best rides at the Disney resort. (Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, Rise of the resistance, Tower of terror) Another thing I want mention is that people mostly go to AK for the animals, the rides too but not as much. Hollywood studios also has mostly shows and meet and greets to make up for them not having a lot of rides.
Don't get me wrong- epic universe is gonna be amazing. But it still seems underwhelming in terms of number of rides. I feel like the main hub area has nothing to do but a little sight seeing. You either have to be a roller coaster junkie ( stardust racer) or do a kids ride ( the carousel). I was hoping that they put another attraction or two maybe some flat rides in the main hub to soak up the traffic. The main portal lands will be so packed that they need to keep the people in the middle busy. Maybe a celestial theme e-ticket, some grand show, and a couple of flat rides. Overall It will have only 11 total rides and attractions. Yes, compared to when mgm studios and animal Kingdom opened, that's a lot. But why compare to back then when the theme park environment was different. Back then Disney had no real incentives to do anything crazy. There was no competition for them. Comcast is trying to play catch-up now and compete with magic Kingdom and become the preferred destination of theme park goers in Orlando. Magic Kingdom has 30 attractions. There's a lot to do there to soak up the traffic. If Comcast wants to overtake magic Kingdom, it needs a lot more rides and shows. In fact the park is only 115 acres. That is counting the future expansion plot of land and the Helios Grand hotel grounds. If you take away all of that, the park is only 80 something acres of actual theme park. Granted, Disneyland in Calif is about the same size and it is packed to the brim with rides, so i think they can make it work. Still, it's not a very big park compared to others in Orlando.
Most of these parks got fucked over by the financial disaster of Euro Disney. Disney’s MGM Studios got screwed over by being a studio park rushed out and only existing to compete with Universal.
im thinking of going in september or november but i imagine the crowds are still going to be hell , plus one day only sucksss. havent been to universal for a while tho so maybe i will just do it lol
My family and I are taking advantage of the lower crowds right now and are sneaking a quick trip in before Epic opens, , I'm not going anywhere near those parks for a while once EPIC opens
I know this isn't a popular opinion on here, but I have some concern that Epic Universe is not going to be able to live up to all these expectations (what could?) Being largest in terms of size isn't necessarily a good thing, and while I think it has a half dozen rides that look genuinely great to fantastic (fingers crossed) I *do* feel like at this point there's still going to be a lot of empty space, there are a number of lazily themed more generic rides, etc--things that this video (rightfully) criticizes the past American Disney parks for having but lets Disney off the hook with (and let's be honest, Islands of Adventure had some of these same problems too.)
Disney was in a crisis during the 90s. Eisner made a huge gamble and spent a lot of money at Euro Disney. But the parisian resort was a flop. Disney had to cut corners and the american parks suffered from it. I think that the experience at Paris has harmed the company to this day. Especially Bob Iger seems to have learned the wrong lessons from it. Paris has a lot of original ideas? Use Ips instead. Paris has improved versions of the original Disney attractions? Just make exact copies. Also Disney has learned that they can put less effort in their parks and people come anyway.
After seeing Harry Potter at the Studios and IOA, I had a friend who wanted to visit SW at Disney. Absolutely underwhelming and don’t even talk to me about Mickey and Minnie’s railway that is not a suitable replacement for TGMR but better than the Journey Into Imagination debacle over at EPCOT.
Disney needs to quite slapping IPs on everything and let the company that does Tokyo Disneysea have free reign. That park is what Disney needs here in the states.
I think it’s true. Disney bean counters always cut, cut, cut budgets. The only reason Disney keeps winning is because it has - by far - the better IPs and Disney is just BIGGER.
Arguably Epic Universe’s biggest selling point is going to be Super Nintendo World. I am surprised you didn’t mention more about it considering how big of a deal it really is. Especially since it has been a big hit at the other two parks it’s currently at, and that’s no surprise since Super Mario is the most successful video game franchise in the world. In fact that’s pretty much the main reason why I plan on even going to Super Nintendo World. I have been to the Hollywood version and I know the Florida is going to be even better since it’s much bigger and hence has more rides. It’s also in my home state too, so the Disney World Killer is really going to take away pretty much all of Disney’s attendance mark my words.
