Hi! My name is Johanna. Welcome to my channel and my dream home! In this video I will share with you the process of bringing back to life an abandoned place and house that belong to my family, renovating the stove and a room of my new home, decorating it and transforming it in a cottage fit for a fairy.
This channel is about house restoring and decorating, gardening, cooking and growing one's food, rural life or countryside life in a small village, crafting useful and beautiful things that make life in the countryside easier and more enjoyable. Join me on my everyday life adventures as countryside life besides being peaceful and beautiful, can be a real challenge sometimes!

Beautiful area! I wanted to live in a place like that, but war old, so I chose the next best thing. I live in the middle of a small town, with mostly lawns, but a few days after I moved here I asked city hall for permission to turn my yard into a wildlife habitat. 17 years later, it's a farm in the middle of town, with lots of trees, fruits and small criatures. I am 75, now renovating my house and separate cottage/art studio. Great ideas for my cottage!

I like having my own tools. Last year I finally got a drill press.. I have been wishing for a planner for the longest time but goodness $$$. My husband seems to like my tools as well 🤨.. I suppose I shouldn't be so stingy lol.
Then came you're pretty feminine touches . They were just so sweet and beautiful. Isn't it just amazing ideas and imagination is/are? You could take a thousand people and each will have a million ideas and everyone will be different. Amazing ideas never run out. But yours sit aside and out front.

I love your videos! I owned an interior design business and no one listened to what makes a home. They want trendy things. Not me. I love your style. It’s from your heart and probably the best memories growing up and traditions. Just priceless. I usually get 4 months of snow. This year we had one! So sad. It’s been melted since January. We have already had 80 degree weather.
I would be glad there is less snow

In primele secunde când am vizionat un alt video si văzând numele mi- am zis ca trebuie sa fii din Polonia sau o țară germanica si apoi am vazut tara de provenienta si tot nu- mi vine sa cred. Noi, româncele nu prea facem treburi din astea bărbătești, nici nu prea putem, nici nu prea ne place. Tu ai fost o mare excepție. De asta mirarea mea. The cottage life is one of the best, it keeps you busy and you don't have time to worry for nothing because since you are all alone you're the one in care of the house.
Johanna you have done such a beautiful job with your restoration! When I saw the magical, old lamp hiding in the overgrown garden I knew this was a special place. When you walked to get the earth material to rebuild the stove I knew you are a knowledgeable and resourceful woman! That wood stove is incredible! My stress levels dropped and my breathing became calm watching this Johanna. Thank you💕 We bought a derelict barn and converted it to be as fairy like as possible. We would love a beautiful mature garden like yours one day. Our land was a former grazing field.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Sarah! They brought much joy to my heart. I have neighbours - I won't film their houses (as I respect their privacy). The hills are just behind the house, but it's not an isolated house. If it would be very isolated, it would be dangerous, as I have friends who had an isolated cabin that was damaged/broken a few times while they were away, traveling. They eventually had to sell the place and buy a house in a remote village, with neighbours around. Hope you will enjoy the videos on this channel! Wish you and your family all the best!

I had seen only half the video earlier. . By then, kitchen duties awaited me, and I thought it was best to finish my chores. and make sure that none of my family members would interrupt me , in the time which I had made expressly for myself, for the pleasure of watching you do up your home with so much love.
Bit by painstaking bit, it proudly came up. ...., the windows treated to a kind of distressed effect kind of paint work, charming iron braces(for want of an appropriate word) forming corner frames for each window, wrought iron supports for shelves , curtain rods from which billowed delicate curtains., your pretty collection of antique copper and pewter pots and pans hung from hand made hooks ( you even. have an anvil. Did you apprentice under an iron smith??!) ...how much effort has gone into the many precious details that transformed an empty shell to a very welcoming home.
Out came the beautiful blue and white plates, a pretty cutting board, plants on the window sill, the blaze from the wood burning stove spreading warmth and cheer.
Johanna ,you have done a splendid job. I truly enjoyed watching your video and for sure I will share it with my friends.
