Sonic the Hedgehog[a] is a video game series and media franchise created by the Japanese developers Yuji Naka, Naoto Ohshima, and Hirokazu Yasuhara for Sega. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist. While Sonic games often have unique game mechanics and stories, they feature recurring elements such as the ring-based health system, level locales, and fast-paced gameplay. Later games added a large cast of characters; some, such as Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, and Shadow the Hedgehog, have starred in spin-offs. The franchise has crossed over with other video game franchises in games such as Mario & Sonic, Sega All-Stars, and Super Smash Bros. If Black Arms are a hivemind of Black Doom DNA, then even one surviving alien could become a new Black Doom. We thought he was finished because all the aliens got blown up with Black Comet... but what if this larvae is still alive? Shadow is getting nightmares in view of the ARK and he needs to go "check" something, right? What other reason could Black Doom's return be found on the ARK unless that larvae is all that remains. Just fuel for thought you might enjoy!
Nah what's happened it time eater has already taken black doom to the present. Shadow starts investigating and the game starts on the ark. Then when black doom starts messing with him he ends up in white space
@@bbguy2245 While possible, that does mean a LOT of what's been set up would be for nothing. And I don't think Ian writes that way. Not to mention the larvae is shown to (possibly) have escaped containment in the manga. Shadow doesn't seem worried about Time Eater at all in the opening of Space Colony Act I, but he IS chasing after a Doom's Eye that's trying to escape the ARK, saying "I won't let you get away". So it seems more likely Time Eater doesn't even show up until after Black Doom has revived and escaped, then Shadow gets thrown into white space. As a bonus, the only time we've seen Black Doom in non-eye form is a hologram projection in the trailer. Meaning the "time of his resurrection" he mentions in the trailer could be... literally him trying to regain his strength and return, which Shadow needs to prevent. If Time Eater just pulled him back from the past, none of that would be needed.
Sure, it's just a theory, but I think there's a lot of evidence this was Ian's plan ever since he introduced that larvae for the manga months ago.

This is ESPECIALLY backed up by the fact space colony ark act 1 happens in the PRESENT not the past based on what we are seeing so far as rouge we know still makes it to the party

The original generations game did suggest that Sonic usually figures out the surprise parties are happening before hand. He claims they got him this time, but I didn't really think he sounded all that convincing. Even if they really did surprise him this time, it confirms that Tails usually throws Sonic a surprise party. So even if he didn't know when or where it was happening he could still assume it was going to happen and ask her to talk Shadow into it.
That being said, I still think she's doing it because she wants Shadow to get out and have some fun. The dude did just tell her the Black Arms may have survived. Black Doom emotionally manipulated Shadow last time. It's got to be rough on him to wonder.
That giant Egg Pawn is the Egg Breaker from the Shadow the Hedgehog game. The one that says "You know what they say, the more the merrier"

Glad to see they canonized the commander’s Archie name.
I’m pretty neutral on that book, it’s not my cup of tea but I appreciate it as a part of Sonic’s legacy and it’s nice to see some element of it finally get some acknowledgment in modern canon.
I love the Archie Sonic comics and the Archie Knuckles comics. I still ship Knuckles with Julie-Su to this day. lol

Your comment on Maria hugging Shadow like Amy did made me realize that the last person to hug Shadow before Amy was probaby Maria. And that he probably thought of Maria immediantly when he realized he was bring hugged... Maybe even instinctively assumed it was her at first. And now im sad.
And would play into the fact that when Amy hugged him, he didn’t react or move, probably in shock or some emotional flashback to Maria.
If they got the name from Archie Sonic, it's probably Ian Flynn sneaking it in since he would have been the one who named the GUN Commander back in the Archie days. He probably just put in the name he had given the character previously and Sega had no objections or didn't notice or care.

I think more exposure to this series has helped some elements grow on me, even if it's still not my preferred style. I think this episode all around was much more enjoyable with the emotions in the opening and the Team Dark dynamic. I'm looking forward to part 3
I love that shot of the larva's eye over Shadow's reflection. Symbology.
I like the little detail of the Egg Pawns dawning the Samurai look from Aquarium Park in this animation. It’s a cool attention to detail as Sonic Generations took place right after Sonic Colors in the timeline.
Overall part 2 was another great animation. It’s nice to see Team Dark fighting together again and exploring more of Shadow’s past on the Ark. It’s also cool to see the GUN Commander again and to see them use his name from the Archie Comics. Looking forward to seeing what part 3 will have in store.
Correction. Sonic Team had said every time we've seen the Moon, its always been facing the undestroyed side. The animations here are just highlighting that yes, the moon still is destroyed partially. And I'd actually love if new Sonic games even if they don't show the shattered side, still have the little saturn like ring of debris around it. A good compromise if they do so.
Or maybe they could have the broken half the moon be replace with an artifical moon piece as a little reference to sonic x

With the reduced Mass of the moon, it could easily be said that its rotations are no longer aligned so that one face is only visible.
I'm REALLY hoping that Rouge plays a bigger role in this game. I've always said, Rouge is Shadow's best friend. Her extroverted flirtatious nature pairs so well with his brooding introversion, and you really do get the sense that both of them care real deeply for each other. Shadow will always help Rouge without question, and Rouge will always work to help Shadow become a better person. I'm really hoping they involve her more with Shadow moving forward.
This Episode was fire! Rouge's Voice Actress is definitely improved since Dream Team, Omega sounds amazing! and the action is unparalleled! Im speechless on how good and amazing this is! also I like how everytime rouge gets excited she gets a sparkle in her eye!
It seems like Megan Hollingshead should have been a good Rouge had 4Kids cast her as such.
Dark beginnings is really epic. They confirmed that Gun comander have the same name like in the Archie comics. And Team Dark is back. This is one of the best thing we ever got from Sonic series.
Not gonna lie Pup seeing Team Dark Back Together Wrecking Badniks and A Egg Smasher was Awesome Sauce from Start to End also love how Shadow just Sigh when Rouge states she help him out in exchange he comes to Sonic Birthday Party in shadow mind he really does have more important things to deal with in that moment in time
Didn’t expect to see another Flashback to Shadow and Maria with Abe that’s the Current GUN Commander that was like a Brother to Maria and despite Shadow After her Passing but it’s unclear if they both let go of the Past and if the Commander will be in Sonic X Shadow, he’ll I love how Rouge and Onega are Protrayed that it will seem that this Prologue will end with Shadow going to the Ark, plus Shadow is more than a Alien Weapon and Maria Knows This, 10 out of 10, Sega are Cooking with these Animations.

And I'm so glad you mentioned the Amy and Maria parallels!! Amy is such a fundamental part of Sonic stories and it just sucks whenever she is replaced with someone else for that scene with Shadow's change of heart (Sonic X and now Movie 2). But I'm just glad that in the main game Canon she still did what she did 💗

The only potential issue with future levels (Sunset Heights, Chaos Island and maybe other future levels like Lost Hex or Dodon Pa's planet) in SxS Gens is the inclusion of future events and characters. Lost Hex, Chaos Island and Dodon Pa's planet are safe of any ruined timeline consistency definitely but I'm worried about Sunset Heights. Shadow visiting Sunset Heights in the future (and he'll know it's the future cause obviously it is, what he'll experience will not have happened yet) while the Eggman Empire is taking over the city with a whole army and probably Infinite's there as well, a guy he very openly does not know of in Sonic Forces: Episode Shadow, the whole story of the DLC being built around Infinite hating Shadow while Shadow doesn't even know who he is, are inconsistencies that cannot work under any context whatsoever.
Shadow encountering Infinite ANNIHILATES that whole thing. Shadow would know of the Eggman Empire's upcoming attempt at world domination, maybe the Phantom Ruby's resurgence and of Infinite's upbringing and we're supposed to believe he'd do NOTHING with that information. Maybe that's why he went after Eggman's bases around Sunset Heights' vicinity and took out Jackal Squad but that's a stretch to say the least.

If Shadow Generation is any indication of what the next Sonic game may look like then I can’t wait to be blown away what they’ll do.
i subscribe to the idea that the villain of the game is technically Black Doom, just that the Shadow we see throughout Sonic Adventure 2 is actually the result of a altered timeline. when Maria hugged shadow he had brief PSTD attacks and what seems to be a personality shift towards being more certain and confident. but the intercom mentioned that multiple subjects escaped to the weapons room (assuming it's not any artificial chaos. and the biolzard was probably at the basement, sedated by the master emerald altar). but Shadow for some reason mentions GUN appearing much earlier. maybe originally Shadow in an original timeline was created slightly later but before Gerald originally handed the Gizoid to GUN.
it makes sense since he presumably based some kind of Soul-implanting process from the creation of Shadow, to curb the Gizoid's impulses. in Battle, it was mentioned that he handed GUN the Gizoid to keep them off his back about Project Shadow. i'd think the alternate timeline, Gerald injected himself, then Maria with the Larva's DNA in the hopes of generating generational antibodies to fight against Maria's condition, before creating Shadow.
this version of Shadow loses Gerald and Maria by GUN, or possibly during the Gizoid attack and blames them for their deaths. he lives for over 50 years until Shadow the Hedgehog starts, where Black Doom reveals that he has Maria and Gerald's souls, and can reincarnate them as pseudo-humans. but the deal goes sour when humanity assumes that Shadow was an alien all along (mirroring Omega's sealing of shadow in the bad future of 06). Shadow kills Black Doom and becomes the new head of the black arms race, escaping into space. where he finds the Time Eater which is revealed to have chrono-singularital properties that calls out for other Black Arms (implying that it's a psionic death-scream).
Alternate Shadow/Doom leaves Doom canisters in white space for our shadow to find, in the attempt to take over his body. when our Shadow initially has memories, that the other shadows' memories flowing in. he notices the events what occured happened much differently. the time echoes started after Sonic defeated Eggman at the end of Colors, where our version of the Time Eater is controlled by eggman, enabling Alternate Shadow to coax the Larva into transmitting visions to Shadow.
Shadow will be in white space and see his allies, as well as Gerald/Maria to pull him closer. advertising/ingame dialogue will make you think that Black Doom came back, but it's Alternate Shadow. they'll also state that the Black Arms race are a mindhive polyglot where the only way to make sure they're not a threat is to eliminate their collective (the black comet), as well as the head (Black Doom). presumably Time Eater died of natural causes, creating what'd eventually became The End, whereas The End was sealed off entirely when the ancients sealed him inside the Starfall Islands' cyberspace, causing the Black Comet to spawn Black Doom.
i'd just guess *somehow*, Alternate Shadow prodded Black Doom just enough to get him to tell Gerald to just implant DNA inside a hedgehog only, this time. and to tell him that there are 7 Chaos Emeralds. with the assumption that the Larva existed in both scenarios, but the Space Colony Ark remains intact too. maybe Original Shadow remembers the Larva, because Alternate Shadow may have *eaten* the Larva so his Black Doom doesn't reappear.
As a Shadouge fan, I still respect and admire the Shadamy ship. It makes sense given their characters, but so just love the Shadouge dynamic so much.

Which considering how often they seem to fight in both the games and the comic. It doesn't mean they can't be friends or respect eachother or anything, it just means "Hanging around for too long could get us into a fight"
Especially considering the line when shadow abandons the true hero route in shadow the hedgehog last second he says that he's not siding with the black arms, he just doesn't like sonic.

I’ve been saying for a long time that Amy is a parallel of Maria. I also said that they could have included her in the third movie if they wanted to by taking that route. Having her talk to Sonic when he is having a moral dilemma. And then talk to Shadow later, but also clearly being a parallel to Maria.
In their first interaction in SA2 he doesn’t look bothered by her, hugging him.
And, in fact, going forward, he is only ever seemed to be fond of her. And I don’t mean in a romantic manner. But he IS the one who bought Hot Honey tickets for her birthday. lol
I didn't exactly expect to hear Nya's voice coming out of Rouge, especially in the line, "I'm gathering intel for G.U.N.!". If any Ninjago character's voice and personality would fit Rouge I would assume it would be Skylor's.

My fan theory with The Commander having grey hair as a child is that he also had a terminal illness... a different illness to Maria and he actually was successful cured. Granted I have always kinda loved the idea that GUN brainwashed a child to be their mouthpiece and help the cover-up... only for it to bite the entirety of humanity in the ass because he was having a break down when humanity needed him most.

We need to have an entire series dedicated to Team Dark going on various missions, or just overall interacting. While Shadow may not fully admit it, Rouge and Omega are the only ones he could deem as close friends.

I actually like that Sonic and Shadow dislike each other! I'm with you that they felt unnecessarily antagonistic in the TailsTube, and that it's nice to see the whole dynamic around Rouge nudging Shadow to go to Sonic's birthday party. But I think Sonic and Shadow also inherently get on each other's nerves, while at the same time respecting each other in a way that no one else really can.
They're very similar in certain aspects, like how they'll always stay true to themselves without listening to what other people say, but at the same time they disagree on the specifics, like with Sonic generally having a more heroic demeanor. I think those differences make it so that they can never really see eye to eye unless one of them were to compromise on their ideas; and those similarities mean that they know the other would never do that, because they themselves wouldn't either. Their dislike for each other doesn't reflect their opinion of each other; and in fact it's kind of the opposite, they're as adamant as they are about their distaste for each other only because of the strong understanding and respect for each other's position.
From what I can gather, the extent of Karen Strassman's "extreme political views" came down to her liking a couple of Trump tweets. That's. . . Not that extreme, to be honest, even if I don't know the content of those tweets. You were right saying a person won't become better by having people lobbying to have their job taken away, but in this case, I'm not even sure "becoming a better person" is a necessary change when I and a lot of others just don't have that information to begin with and so can't pass judgement. I'm willing to bet nobody in this comment section has met her in person, so the outrage feels incredibly forced to begin with.

i haven't really kept up with sonic for a bit, i tuned out after 2006 and only really paid attention to the movies plus frontier, so this is the first time hearing rouge's new va, and its so bad, like she sounds too young and bubbly to play rouge, rouge is clearly meant to the be the sexy cat burglar type and this voice does not match rouge's design at all, i think they really do need to hire another va for rouge's next apparence

9:43 the problem wasn't "how are those stages gonna be in the game", it is "the time eater thing was about eggman undoing his mistakes from his past and sonic travelling through his past, so why would eggman undo something he hasn't lived through with forces and frontiers?". People keep trying to justify it in terms of the story when, in reality, it's because the assets were already done, and they just wanted to put them in there to buff up the gametime. There's no actual reason for why sunset heights and chaos Island is in the game aside from that, and people trying to justify it just makes them look like idiots.

@@jskywalker58 I found this out recently, Strassman has right-wing views on vaccination and has liked some of Donald Trump’s tweets on election fraud.
I'm still not into this VA as Rouge, she's just too high pitched and young sounding for me, too close to Amy. I want VA's closer to the original SA2 actors for both Rouge and Shadow. But Strassman definitely did a better job this time around compared to Dream Team. Her voice in Dream Team was unbearable.

Seeing team Dark makes me feel ashamed to be a Shadow fan. Seriously, why do people love this team when it makes no sense for Shadow as a character post-SA2?
Because it's a band of misfits who are not afraid to do good via the wrong means. They're anti-heroes. And the fact that Shadow can find kinship with them and open his heart to even more people thanks to them is character accurate for him. He's not a selfish, bad a$$. He's just a confused guy who started off with the wrong foot.
@@PepperMistAnimations eh, I feel the whole trope of the 'band of misfits' and 'edgy loner who actually has a lot of friends' are both overused. Shadow, IMHO, would be better suited to have no friends or team behind him and still good by any means necessary. A Shadow who does things on his lonesome, without any pushing or prodding from characters like Rose or Rouge, is far more than the one who has to be pushed into doing certain activities by such characters
@@SpyroTigerDovefan34 But he's not being pushed into anything. Exactly like in this scene, he's doing his own thing and has his own motive but whenever they all meet up they are a coordinated group who won't stop each other from achieving their objectives.

Rewatch the ending of Adventure 2, the Shadow you want is a Shadow with character assassination like in IDW during the Metal Virus (which was *horribly* executed).
