I have a 2012 135i M Sport convertible and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. It's small-ish but it's very maneuverable. The other nice thing is it's a car that not many people drive. People always ask me about the 1 series and what kind of engine is under the hood. Don't underestimate the 1.
I know I'm kind of odd but I really love old fashioned stereos instead of the newer cars with all these distracting screens. If I want navigation or music I can get it from my phone. I love having a really simple, no fuss radio that doesn't distract the clean lines in my dash.
I had one, brought it new in 2008 (New Zealand). It was made to order, a few extras and with an unusual colour combination, the Sedona red with the coral leather, it looked fabulous! It was like driving a go cart, raw unadulterated fun. Such a wonderful motor, only ever had one problem, the high pressure fuel pump had to be replaced. I had it for 5 years before we parted company, I had thought about a trade in on a 435 when the dealer made an offer I couldn't refuse. Turned out the salesman from the other branch (neighbouring city) wanted it, he still has it (2023). Sometimes I wish I still had it. The one accessory I would recommend is the wind deflector, we never used the back seat anyway. With it in it doubled the time we spent with the roof down, especially at night. The only other thing that is necessary is a hat/cap, not only does it protect your head and face from sunburn, but it stops the sun shining in behind the lens of your glasses.
The 128i might be the more reliable of the 2 engine choices. The power of the 135i is undeniable but the reliability and overall durability might be in question long-term. Either way, the convertible is a beautiful add and more so over the hardtop.
The 135 convertible is the best handling convertible ever made, hands down. There might be a faster car (but not better handling) in the $250K+ range, but the 135 is a lot faster with a JB4 and meth for an extra $1100, and will be more reliable too.
Christopher George its a fun little car, nice sound, great engine, sporty steering and drive Annoying engines sometimes but its a fun car This was mine th-cam.com/video/f3FpNY9BQtE/w-d-xo.html
Im sorry but my 2005 330 Ci looks the same to me. Interior looks the same and the curves don't look as good as the E46's. Might be me but looks like a refresh fresh of mine, and at fraction of the price for $17k when i picked it up.
Roman you get all the fun! haha. Were you able to get some real MPG figures? How about a few 0-60 run times? I know you said $48,000! You can get this Drop top for under 40K with quite s few options and still have that amazing engine. I priced one out with cold weather package and Sport Package and with the $900 Destination came under $40K So, There is a SANTA CLAUS lol. ANd I know what you mean about cheap materials that would drive me crazy if I bought one. Even on a 15K car TY Roman!
@kingstewierblx he's talking about BMW itself not any other mothership company...like u can't say the smallest Audi is a Beetle it just doesn't make sense...
No Dual clutch is an automated manual Audi’s creation of a real manual with a robot shifting faster than yourself....best know version is the much sought after PDK by Porsche ZF is a true automatic. It’s shifts are so exemplary that it led to a comparison Btwn the two I suspect by Chris Harris. Conclusion was that for certain cars with too much power the ZF may be the way to go I myself am (like Chris HARRIS) a devout follower of Manual gears . That said I’ve come across a deal too good to pass by and am “settling” for the superior DSG offered by BMW
This review is pointless. You can also have the integrated navigation system with the screen on the center of the dashboard, or the Harman Cardon stereo system which is excellent, but really who cares. You take an 135 not for the stereo or if the wood trim on the dash is out of nowhere..
BMW interior are pretty crappy from what I've seen and driven. Don't get the hype with these cars and the prices are ridiculous. As someone who lives in the bay area, I a see more 3 series BMWs than Honda Civics now days. No Way am I spending $48k on that car. Looks kind of girly too.

Joshua Medina - Any major maintenance issues with it?
I agree , I love my N54 135i
Anthony Lopez just oil leaks for me rn

Rubbish review, selecting reverse, radio??? Any technical knowledge and running cost?
On a regular auto you push forward to go in reverse and drive is down....
Yep. This reviewer is straight up airhead.
i dont like the soft top of the convertible but im getting one anyways to enjoy the cali weather
The radio in that actually sounds VERY good stock..... it's not about how it looks. There is a Nav option as well.
The high pressure fuel pump was a problem, but has recently been upgraded and is on the bulletin list for replacement.
I just wanted to know the chassis dynamics of the convertible vs the hardtop!!!
You ever figure that out?😂
Who uses the radio when they drive this car, especially the convertible? I never have. lol Greatest car I have ever owned and I'm pushing 70.
Uh, everybody. Who doesnt listen to the radio
I take the throaty roar of the engine over the radio, any day. lol
i love reviews that are balanced. not just praise. nicely done guy~
i much rather have that stereo "from the 90s" than any of thsose overly complex touch screen BS of today
48k i'd rather have the 1m for 47k with no options at all.
I've been looking at an Audi TT 2.0 turbo, And I've been looking at a 2010 135 .... dunno which one to pick really
135i
I want to get one but I live in the hood. maybe not a good idea?
You'll come back to the car one dar to find someone sleeping under your hood.

$48,000? jeez thats a lot of loot. you can get a nice barely used Audi S5 for that kinda money or less with red guts like this 1 series.
Roman forgets that this is a $34,000 car optioned up to $45,000 with engine, suspension, and other options.
I would actually like more if they made it out of 1 series hatchback, so it would be more like mini convertible RWD car.
I just bought one today 🤷♂️
I’m considering buying one is it any good?
Christopher George its a fun little car, nice sound, great engine, sporty steering and drive
Annoying engines sometimes but its a fun car
This was mine
th-cam.com/video/f3FpNY9BQtE/w-d-xo.html
How is the stereo?
But the mini isn't a bmw, it's a mini. Although BMW make mini.

The law of attraction gave me this!
I have one the same colour and I know what you mean, press the button and it becomes a totally different car

Factually incorrect. It’s not BMW’s smallest car. That would be the BMW “0” aka the Mini
Dual-clutch? do you mean zf transmission?
LOL.
No

this car is the closest thing to the famous predecessor 2002 tii
Reasons #4 the brakes

I would buy a nissan 370Z! but still a good review!
If I was to buy this car I would defiantly get the coupe cause of the more manlier look. Or just the new 1M.
That's like saying a Toyota Camry is a Lexus.
It's not bmw's smallest car... the smallest car is the z series
Should have made a hardtop convertible
48k?!?! 370z all the way. But then again, there are SO many 370z owners (posers).

My new whip PJ(KG)GGM life is Good Im Great!!!
test drive the 1M!!!!!!
Why dafuq is postman pat driving this car??
oh, a northface jacket, you must go on so many adventures...
lol, like to see this guy make a car.
Very scattered review
wow such old. reviews
hahaha at the wood part. haha! Funny. But still a good car.
you could get a 1M for less than this car
This video didnt age well. The twin turbo engines are terrible!
Better still get a 128 - most of the engine and even better handling but most of all, much more reliable.
Review??! What review?? ... You spouted out absolute bullshit and no informative information at all
u know s**t!
You should buy the saab convertible
That's like saying a Toyota Camry is a Lexus.
