Really enjoyed the trip through South Africa. Absolutely stunning views. The music was perfect for unloading the green machine. Can hardly wait to see what you use for an engine. Looking for forward to the next episode of the three stooges!

It is so nice to see parts of Africa as they are vs. the stereotypical grasslands and lions of Hollywood movies. Beautiful land and trees. Good road trips are the best with friends or family. Btw, picked up one of your cool t-shirts to help support you Div. Thanks for the joy and entertainment in Rat Rods.
This is starting to look like “the French connection!” Great video I’m guessing this might end up a monster v8 or a hyabusa drive chain. Loving the journey 👌
Thanks for the road trip! I used to bomb between Knysna and Cape Town in an Austin Apache as a student in the 1980s, and my late father owned Tangent Engineering in Knysna back then. Good memories! You should have bought the Austin 10 and stuck the engine and gearbox in from one of those Datsun 1200 bakkies outside Bobby's place 🙂
I sure enjoy your channel Div..a band of characters. Awesome dudes. Trying to remember how many subs you had when I joined....I know it wasn't a lot, as the first comment I posted was something about...we gotta help the brother to grow...you're getting close to 30k...let's keep it goin. Peace brothers, from southern Alberta..in canukistan.
1987 - I worked at Komani Hospital in Queenstown. The local scrapyard had a red, tired Toppolno. Not For Sale. I desperately wanted to buy it. In the end I bought a 67 Ford Anglia 1200 Super Registration number CH 13 Used as a daily for a few years, sold to a fireman who kept knocking once a month. Good to see you have Groenie collected.
Hey Dif, my first ever car, back in 1965, while I was still in high.school was the 1948 version of the "Topolino" 500 Fiat. A guy gave it to me with a broken bell housing, it was his daughter's daily driver, I was a "teenage mutant ninja barefoot mechanic", he said "you can have this but you must get it going again!" I did, the rest is history. That was 60 years ago, I still remember that "Little Mouse", a far better looking car than that later model you have there, but I'm sure the "Rat Rod boys" will improve it. Great find mate. Cheers from Australia!
@@ratrodsafrica yes mate, I cut that one up and "hot rodded" it even way back then by putting the Fiat body on a Morris 8 chassis and engine because the original engine was so piss poor. I often wonder how much "The little Mouse" would be worth now in original condition,🤔. But then that's the way many have gone over the years,😂 but it's been a fun ride.
Cool little car you found there. Nothing like a road trip with friends to make a day's adventure. I had a 1957 Chevy Bel-Aire 4 door painted about the same color as that car. Looked great at night but was butt ugly during the day. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
I see your buddy has an Isuzu.I got an Isuzu trooper .they are cool little rigs with GM running gear .easy to get parts. You arent lying about being in the jungle. Looks pretty thick in some of them scenes. Cant wait you work the ol greeny.thanks for taking us along
Boet you should definitely have a comedian Thursday because you three guy's would be a hit. Love the new green goblin just needs a super bike engine to power it. Thanks for the lekka road trip.
This is nice cillection of small cars. Can't wait to see what engine is gong to be in this one. Your chanel is getting more and more interesting. I wish i could find somthing like this and follow your steps. Keep up good work !!!
It is super cute. That is the under appreciated Fiat 500. The little rear engine one that replaced it dominates peoples mental image of the model number.
That little mouse needs a mouse motor, small block Chevy 350 lol if anyone can make that work out it’s you Div! Another great video, I enjoy seeing your country side
Two guys drove one of these from Switzerland to Pakistan across Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan in 1954, wrote a book about it called The Way of the World, tough little cars
Toppolinos made good drag cars back in the day in NZ, light and with a big V8 stuffed in pretty quick, youre gaining a fleet of puddle jumpers when does the sit up and beg Anglia arrive
Hey Diff, Love your work! I have always been about the shiney paint but watching your chanel has turned me around. I'm geting ready to start a ramps truck build with a 97 Dodge 3500, dually diesel 4x4. I was going to paint it but now I am thinking I will leave the nice patina and detail the engine and frame. It will be bagged and about 600 hp of 12 vale Cummins wuth a 5 speed. The truck is from California so it is mosly rust free except for the surface rust where the sun has erased the paint. Don't be supprised to see it with a air valve systen very much like the one you made for the Hudson!
Cool car for sure. But I can't help but love that Nissan bakkie in the yard. We didn't get those in the US at all and I'm a big time vintage Nissan guy.
Those little trucks were very popular here, made by Nissan South Africa from 1971 - 2008. Lots and lots of them around, many still daily drivers. They had a great reputation for their reliability.
Fun watch, don´t know how often I have fallen for that "just going to have a look" thing. Besides I worked on topolinos as an aprentice... many decades ago. Tiney little 500cc four cylinder engine with about 3 horsepower but a really sporty seating position.
Hey Div, Yet another reason why I do not have facebook on my phone. Enough stuff finds its way to me without it. But hey, we need to have those toys to keep us busy, off the streets at night and out of trouble, sorta. After reading the other comments, I somewhat agree with a couple of them. Just as a toy to play with, a horizontal crankshaft small one cylinder engine would be fun. Then when that has ceased to be fun or is destroyed, a larger two or more cylinder engine from a motorcycle would make the little car quite road worthy. Maybe even scarry ! But if I remember correctly there is no transmission in the car so that might be another project in itself. Thank goodness for Marketplace ! I have faith in you Div. I have no doubt that is something you can handle. Thank goodness for Marketplace ! Giggle, Giggle, giggle. You live in a beautiful area, thank you for sharing it with us. Rock On
Suggestion Don't chop it to pieces it is crammed enough in there, but find a high power Motorbike engine for it. One with a good sound and feel and decent horse power. old low reving ...Blub blub blub!!! Or high reving race bike ...Ren ren ren!!! both would rock that little thing. Canvas roof down and wind in the hair.
So our community in NE TX is observing the total eclipse of the sun and I'm watching RatRods for Africa. What shoe size is that Fiat? Takes 2 to make a pair. Very neat little car. Hope to see it again in another video. Good thing it has a soft top so the driver has "headroom!" 😎👍

Small world! The Datsun bakkie engine will work well in that Austin, but you would have to upgrade the Puddle jumper's brakes!
The green color is perfect on that car.
I like it too!
i had an Austin 10 like that back in New Zealand my first car paid 30 pounds for it. looks like you guys had a fun road trip
