    A guy at the card shop last night was just playtesting this deck, proxied up the commander. Attunement was a card that was an MVP in that deck. Bounces itself and gets enchantments/artifacts in the graveyard.

    Just got done building a deck with this guy without realizing my opponent’s can trigger this. Totally missed that lol

    Glad you've done a deck tech on this one. There's so much interesting legendary creatures in this set but I think this one is one of the most versatile. I'm almost thinking of playing him like "let's put anything cool that works with it to show how cool this commander is"

    Seal of Cleansing for recurring artifact and enchantment removal. I especially love comboing Seal of Cleansing with Liquimetal Torque to get rid of anything.

    I think an artifact themed deck would be the right build. There's a couple ways to play them at instant speed. Unwinding clock untaps your stuff. Hullbreaker Horror would be huge in this deck if you're playing on everyone else's turn.

    One crazy mvp to make sure tameshi's card draw triggers every turn is storm cauldron. My take on this take is essentially making an azorius Zo-zu land punishing tax deck with stuff like overburden, mana breach, and confounding conundrum. (and yes, my playgroup hates it)

    • @thatguycam1989
      @thatguycam1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No way on storm cauldron. They're simply not enough ways to put lands into play in these colors.

    Just want to mention, two cards you mentioned separately do go infinite. My tameshi is built around Patron of the moon and lotus bloom, which when paired with tameshi produce infinite mana

    The combo isn't super complicated, honestly. Mystic sanctuary and turn spells go infinite in this deck as in so many others, but the fact that when sanctuary is bounced tameshi recurs value from the graveyard is gravy.
    Im sure infinite mana works towards a win here as well, maybe some self mill/thoracle shenanigans.
    Looks like a super fun deck and interesting build around commander.

    LOL I didn't see this video! Tameshi is so cool. I like using cards like Mark of Eviction, Kor Spiritdancer and Rootwater Shaman for some auric hijinks or Power Conduit with a Saga; being able to use Artifacts and/or Enchantments makes Tameshi really flexible :P

      It's another stax Arbiter with a splash of red for more win cons that Arbiter lacked. Other than that it's pretty linear and will draw a lot of hate from everyone just like Arbiter did imo.

    I am working on a version of this deck, and i just checked the Gatherer on Tameshi. The wording on this card says to me that you can return cards from your graveyard to your hand and draw cards.....the Gatherer says otherwise. It only applies to cards on the battlefield. I was building the deck thinking i could return cards from the graveyard and draw cards.

    I've been thinking about how to go about building this one. My issue is that I already have a Sydri vehicles and an Oswald Artifact Pod decks, so I was looking to move away from these two themes (and maybe artifacts in general). So far, what I've been able to come up with are either a Saga's deck or an Enchantment Creature reanimator (and maybe both combined).

      Solitary Confinement, Attunement, Lunar Force, Angelic Renewal, and other enchantments that get rid of themselves are like gold in this deck, you can definitely build an enchantress version of the deck

  • @konata2893

    There are so many combos with this thing. Atlas + retreat + lotus petal + one of many things that do an infinite something. Life, dudes, mill (if you have altar of dementia/grind stone or what have you). Or patron of the moon + amulet of vigor + a myriad of other things. Infinite draw is easy with blue sun's. Then you can just slap a lab man or lab jace. If you have the right setup I think you can reasonably win on like turn 5 or 6

  • @gael_le_cruel

    Very cool commander indeed, one of the ones that stimulated my deckbuilding ideas the most of those of the new set.
    However ... It might be just that we have different styles when building decks but I feel like sometimes you lean a litte bit too hard on the commander's theme, and it's one of these caes.
    Although I'm super happy to see you find neat and rarely seen cards that fit very well in there, your list feels like it's meant to be played as if the commander will always be up and that you'll be able to activate its ability an unlimited amount of times each turn. Which you won't, as it limits itself by making you bounce lands (and I think it's a fantastic way to balance this ability).
    Redgardless of that, I really like your ideas, I'm just not satisfied with the hand size matters effects, especially the large creatures; the triskadecaphile is fine.
    The paths I'll try to explore would be first a landfall subtheme and then see what enchants / artifacts I would use with this, and then I would try to go with something stax (sorry smokestack is my N°1 pet card) which would go amazingly well with this commander.

    • @gogaschnitzel3222

      @gael_le_cruel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gogaschnitzel3222 well me too but I also dislike having a deck that does nothing because my commander died a couple of times and I can't cast it anymore

    • @gael_le_cruel
      @gael_le_cruel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@clanechelon I definitely agree, and that's why I also tend to build not so popular commanders and avoid to play the scary cards that make you the enemy.
      But maybe I'm a litte bit more pessimistic than you and Demo, but although I build not the be too scary, I tend to expect someone else to be scary and result in a boardwipe.
      As I said, it probably mostly is a difference on how we percieve our losses, or the way we apprehend deckbuilding. I personnally went from all in on my commander's theme to going for the essential and then having a secondary theme that works well with the rest of what I do but doesnt require my commander.
      Also to be honest I tend to go for sketchy combinations, such as my idea of going landfall for Tameshi, which is a kind of creative space that I really enjoy ^^
      Seriously though, just kill the big dino psycho indeed

  • @lushG678
    @lushG678 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing i haven't seen in everyone's decklists bar a few is the inclusion of storm cauldron, it's literally the best card for tameshi, you get to play extra lands, it triggers them, and is a stax piece against your opponents plus when their lands go to their hand it triggers it on each of their turns too, so for each cycle you draw a card for free from each opponent on their turn when they tap for mana, you're trying to ramp lands out anyways and hit landfalls so it being bounced benefits you and you're playing artifacts and enchantments so can use those for mana advantage, I just can't see how you can tell me that it ain't the best card in the deck

    • @thatguycam1989
      @thatguycam1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not enough ways in these colors to put lands back into play. Overburden and Mana Breach are likely better choices.

      Personally if you're going to run moonfolk tribal (at least with the moonfolk that return lands to hand) I'd prefer Patron of the Moon as a commander, though unfortunately that means Tameshi can't make it in because of the white

    instead of solitary confinement i put energy field in, doesn't give shroud but cost one less and doesn't remove drawstep. since i transitioned from a Patreon of the moon deck overburden and mana breach are in that also trigger our commander, and i made it landfall-ish. though i liked the idea of putting a lot of veihcles in it too looking at the recent spoilers. Also attunement is a really good enchantment that easily draws you cards and puts cards you want in our graveyard

    • @calebhorowitz8057
      @calebhorowitz8057 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO solitary is better because you actually don't need to sacrifice it. In a deck that's constantly accruing card draw through bouncing (like with overburden and mana breach) you're drawing like 2-4 cards per turn cycle most turns. The gravy on top is that if you discard an artifact or enchantment to solitary, it barely matters because you can just recur it with Tameshi.

  • @calebhorowitz8057
    @calebhorowitz8057 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some synergies you didn't cover that I really value:
    1) Standstill. This one is a build-around. When it cracks, you and all except one of your opponents will draw 3, but you can either use Narset to make it so only you draw a card, or you can just use it politically to make it so nobody wants to cast into it, kind of like the counterspell enchantments.
    2) 1-spell-per-turn cards: Ethersworn Canonist (an artifact), Eidolon of Rhetoric (enchantment), Arcane Laboratory (enchantment), and Rule of Law (Enchantment). This is slightly jank, but if you have a way to get your enchantments and artifacts into the bin, and you probably do, you're not actually CASTING them when you recur them. Especially because you're always on a mana deficit with this commander, the one spell per turn feels especially nice to balance out the game and get you less behind, but you can also abuse it to pseudo cast more from the graveyard. This leads to some even jankier options I love, enchantment counterspells that only care about CAST cards. The two that come to mind are Dovescape and Ice Cave. Both counter things without countering your graveyard recursion.
    3) Urza's Saga! It's an enchantment, so you can recur it for 1 mana and a bounce!
    4) If you really want to go all in on lands, Crucible of Worlds is spicy. It allows you to recur the new Channel Lands (which Tameshi makes worth playing even without crucible imo) but it's especially amazing if you channel an Eiganjo, then play it from the bin with Crucible, then bounce it with tameshi and repeat.
    5) Mana Ramp. White and blue both struggle immensely with ramp because white's ramp cards all care about you having fewer lands than your opponents to work. But this deck solves that problem because your commander puts you behind on lands. Therefore, Archaeomancer's Map and Oath of Lieges will always trigger!
    6) Repeated bounce effects. The two big ones are Mana Breach and Overburden. Both force your opponents to bounce things when they cast spells, and both allow you to draw cards off that bounce. To make things even better, you can avoid the tax yourself if you're spending from the graveyard.
    *Lastly, I totally disagree about solitary confinement. You're drawing 1-4 cards per turn cycle off of Tameshi, meaning you can absolutely afford to keep solitary out rather than instantly saccking it. Furthermore, if you have any graveyard synergies whatsover (or even just want to get an artifact or enchantment into the bin to play later with Tameshi) you can just sacrifice those to solitary's effect!
