I had a girlfriend from Munich who had an awesome sense of humor, it was dry and wry and she delivered it so deadpan it went over most people's heads... which was her point and how she drew humor from their literal interpretations... she was willful yet whimsical.

My grandfather was working on the development of the Borgward BIVs in the final months of the war, with the addition of 6 88mm rocket tubes. We stumbled upon his picture during an inspection by some higher ranking German personnel. You can find this picture by Googling "Borgward BIV Crew" and he is the crew man nearest the camera on the right side of the photo. He lived a life time and a half prior to leaving Germany and creating a new legacy. Remarkable men were forged in that era, on both sides.

I read about their use during the Normandy invasion in Joseph Balkoski’s book Utah Beach. Unfortunately when the Americans first encountered one, they thought of it as a bit of a joke. Until it went off killing around 50 soldiers. However, most of them were incapacitated by the preparatory aerial and naval bombardments.

So sad how that French designer didn't want that weapon in the hands of Germans, tried to destroy it, only for it to be captured and refined to be used as a terror weapon. Imagine inadvertently creating a weapon that killed hundreds of unassuming people wielded by the people that took over your country.

Other vehicle is in Museum of Army Engineers and it's curious one - generally it looks similar to Goliaths, yet there are some clear differences. More so, there is no information in German archives about it.

Many of these Goliath vehicles were discovered on Utah beach by the Americans. Utah beach was so accurately bombed from the air that fighting there only lasted 30 minutes with only 40 casualties before the beach was secure. The Americans afterward found these in little cubby holes along the beach and didn’t know what they were. One American decided to throw a grenade inside one of them which resulted in an enormous explosion that killed 12 Americans increasing the casualty rate to 52.

The Goliath mini tank name is maybe derived from the Biblical and Quranic stories David and Goliath where Goliath who was heavily armoured died by a simple man called David who we call In Islam Dawoud the name explains the functionality it is a small remote tank you might mock it but fear not it can make a heavy damage.
And yes from Company of heroes experience this one can be helpful in battlefields such as destroying bridges exploding the front lines anything to cripple enemy advancing which beneficial to the Germans.
