  • From his visceral portrayal of Dracula in Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, to his compelling Lee Harvey Oswald in Oliver Stone's JFK, Gary Oldman is able to metamorphose into a broad range of roles. His career has spanned three decades with huge critical and commercial success. His directorial debut, Nil by Mouth, earned him two BAFTA Film Awards.

Pure, pure class. Even ends the interview being a hundred percent badass.

Fascinating man, unpretentious in manner, generic in appearance. And then suddenly, the light comes out from beneath that bushel basket and we are dazzled, from incognito to unforgettable by an act of will. The magician pulls a rabbit from the hat.

Und!? Das zeigt, dass nicht abgehoben ist. Einer der 1000 Gründe, warum ich ihn seit 1993 verehre.❤

Tony Scott(Ridley Scott's brother) was the director of True Romance and died by Suicide in 2012. How Heartbreaking. He made some really unique and great movies.

Gary Oldman's studied & nuanced portrayal of Joe Orton in "Prick Up Your Ears" clearly demonstrated the burgeoning brilliance of the then relatively young artist. I was grateful for its mention though the clip selected was of no illustrative value, unless, of course, its purpose was to show Gary in tighty whiteys. As impressive as was the gift on display, it was no indication of the actor's art. Gary Oldman became Joe Orton, inhabiting not only his skin, but also his mannerisms, mindset, presence & personality. One of the truly remarkable transformations for a young actor captured on film. All of Gary Oldman's portrayals are complete, accurate, engrossing & wholly believable, but his future brilliance was clearly on display in his youth as evidenced here as well as in "Sid & Nancy" & also in "Rosencrantz & Gildenstern Are Dead". I also wish an interviewer would discuss his accomplishments as a musician, clearly on display in his portrayal of Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved" & even in his riveting performance as the maniacal DEA agent Stan Stansfield.

Thankfully I listened to this in the car while driving. Didn’t have to notice the camera-work.

The mean lady at the RADA audition would have laughed if someone had told her that this young man would one day be called actors' actor and win an Oscar for portraying Churchill. lol

I think it was the only movie in his entire career where he allowed another actor to steal the show. Lena Orin was incredible

Jittery, fidgety camerawork by operators trying to be artsy but ending up looking like amateurs. Always a pity when such mere technicians intervene, ruining what's simply an interview with a great actor combined with sharp editing of archives for an excerpted history.

Student camera work and direction, trying to squeeze in as many techniques as possible for a show reel has almost distracted me from this wonderful interview.
