What a conductor, what a performance, and what a band. Apart from that, the jury's decision regarding this piece may well be the joke of the last decade. Of course, it is still questionable on which performance was the best on the own choice piece Saturday, but 91 pts ....? Come on, dear adjudicators, are you serious? I hope that the musicians will not dwell on this real "hold up" and will come back stronger than ever, because they certainly did not deserve that. Congratulations for these 2 magical moments in Montreux.
This contest was very very close... It's between one point on each band... So probably you can have 5,6,7,8 great performances... and finally 8 points between the first and eighth... Also the own choice starts with two European Premiere and finish with 3 great performances... Probably the draw didn't help Eikanger. But you know the result is not the most important... Most important is music !
@@PierreAntoineSavoyat As the first commentator rightly said, we do not argue about getting 99, 98 or 97 points. But on how it is possible to have obtained such a low result on a performance as good as this one. Have you heard the other performances? We were in the audience, and honestly there were other versions that really did not live up to this one. 4barrest placed them first ... British Bandsman placed them first ... The public, who gave them a standing ovation ... Ok, no matter, all these people were wrong, and the 3 adjudicators were right. But as you say, most important is music ....
Just forget about the contest and let's enjoy a fantastic performance of a very good piece by musicians which understand waht they are playing, and most of all: why!
Eikanger delighted those lucky enough to be present..yes a personal opinion for sure but this fabulous band really has no equal..the two performances were beyond words..Desford Colliery 86 European was of another level as we're Eikanger at Montreux. Magnificent!!
It might have been a mistake to enter with such a delicate piece, because you can hear every tiny impurity. And if a jury just primitively counts the number of slips (instead of appreciating the brilliant band play), I can get why they're placed behind the other top bands, who had it easier to conceal their mistakes in their more modern and complex pieces.
I think the decision of choosing Concerto Grosso as their own choice would've been due to Eikanger's performance at the Norwegian Nationals. Concerto Grosso was the set test piece for the Norwegians, and Eikanger got 1st for the set test piece, in comparison only getting 3rd for their own choice, Sparke's Perihelion. So my theory is that they went with the piece they thought they did the best with as their own choice for the Euros, which was Concerto Grosso. Having said that, I think Perihelion would've been a much better choice as their own choice for the Euro Championships.
i dont know, i liked the performances of valaisia, and the BBO at the SBBW/CSBB last November more it might just be because i didnt heard that live what did you rank at the EBBC?
Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag never disappoint. This was another extraordinary performances 👏👏👏🤩

I totally agree. This is one of the best performances of CG ever. Atleast 94/95 points from me
