Please remember that the eye relief / scope shadow while shooting is also dependent on the position of the scope on the gun, as well as the gun itself. Therefore, the same scopes actually perform different on different guns. There is actually a difference when using a picatinny raiser, for example, but it requires a lot of testing to find the optimal gun/scope/mount type (different dovetail mounts also have different heights and eye reliefs)
The Bravo is one of my favorite sights this wipe. Far better than the HAMR, and perfect when you don’t wanna spend the money for a Razor or Vudu on your gun build, or if you want less zoom than 6x.
bravo is my choice cause i hate putting reflex on top, im using bravo with canted 4x acog is pretty good too, but it would be better if that shitty rmr was as good as dp or ff
Just a correction, eye relief and eye box are different things even if they are related in that there would be scope shadow if they’re not right. Eye relief is the distance of the eye to the ocular. In tarkov, this would cause the scope shadow of the gun at rest, when not firing. It means that the optic is not properly positioned vis-à-vis the eye which causes the shadow. Eye box is the lateral and vertical movement of the eye from the ocular. This is something like the bobbing of the eye to the eye piece. This would then be relevant in full auto as the scope wouldn’t be in the perfect eye box while in recoil, hence causing scope shadow.
the picture in picture issues come with all scopes that have a backup sight by default, examples are AUG A1 optic, Elcan irons. If you are using a scope that can mount a backup optic, you won't get the lag, like Bravo or HAMR
I can say that the tac30 is unfortunately utterly unusable with NVGs; it used to only be usable with the armasight NVGS before the NVG rework, but now it is worse on all NVGs in addition to being horrible with the armasight. Truly sad as a night enjoyer, and previously a tac30 enjoyer
For the NcStar, its a bug thats been there for about 4yrs that I just recently learned about. Basically what is going on when you use the red dot on top of it, is the game still thinks you are either using the 3x or 9x scope. This has the affect as well on your turning speed which is severely reduced while using the red dot, as if you were scoped in and trying to look around. Hopefully it gets fixed eventually. 4 yrs is quite a long wait as is.

I’ve been saying for ages. It is insane how Vudu and Razor are only expensive because everything else, more or less, is implemented like shit. Also, the horrid recoil that we have right now screws over most optics because you lose the sight picture when that initial kick occurs. Curious to see what happens with the recoil changes.

I really don't like how all LPVO in Escape from Tarkov work like a Elcan Spectre, where there is 1 step up, like a toggle between the lowest 1x and highest 4x-6x-8x mode. In reality, these modern LPVO have true variable zoom, meaning that the zoom level can be adjusted very accurately and incrementally in a smooth fashion by either twisting the scope body in some way or by some other interface. On the 1x-8x Schmitt & Bender, you can see these markings on the top of the scope that would indicate all levels of zoom, which correspond to the 1x all the way up to 8x, but in game it only responds as the Spectre Elcan would with only allowing a fixed 1x or 8x setting. I should be able to scroll my mouse wheel and smoothly zoom in from 1x all the way up to 8x.
@@mikedebakker5820 depends on fire mode and fov, if he is using the triangle classic rainbow six siege acog with high fov, he is likely to get better performance than a simple 1 x or monstrum while also being able to snipe if need be, for full auto id use lazer hipfire or canted sights. for scopes like the razor it's shadow and eye relief are heavily dependant on the scope mount and what gun it is on as well, on the SCAR using a razor is just not good because of how far the scope sits forward unlike on something like a Mutant

If I find a scope, it would be nice for the game to tell me what gun I can put it on. AND DONT TELL ME TO CLICK COMPATIBLE WITH because everytime I do that there's just a dash.
Why is nobody talking about the description error of the scope magnification, almost every scope in the game has different magnification than the description says.
I still feel like ... the game should be balanced in a way that you DONT want to use full auto with a big af sniper scope on your gun when ADS´ing. It turned the decision from "Do I want a 1x scope for CQC or a long range scope for open areas" into "just always take something that has both" with no real downsite as money is way too easy to get right now. Makes canted sights feel almost useless now (besides the ergo bug)
Do people actually try and full auto with the larger magnification scopes? You talk a lot about how bad the full auto is with the 3x - 4x scopes but honestly any engagement where I need that magnification I personally wouldn't be full auto'ing. Am I doing it wrong? I generally have three distinctly different gun types and scopes that I choose to go with them, bolt-action snipers, semi auto rifles/DMRs, and lastly anything full auto like an SMG/AR. Bolt action snipers its all about being able to quickly and reliably line up shots so something with variable magnification and a good sight picture is all that is needed. Semi auto anything I want to have options for close and medium/long range depending on the map so any of the variable zoom scopes with a 1x option or a medium range scope with a canted red dot are good. For 99% of the maps and engagements I find myself in with these I nearly always like the Monstrum 2x (I'm trying really hard to use other scopes but this just fits so well for any semi auto guns) Full auto guns come in two types really, SMGs that can't really do long range so red dot/holo sights all the way, and assault rifles that can full auto up close or semi auto at range. And I have similar requirements to the semi auto/DMRs in that I want flexibility but it needs to be able to full auto at close range without losing sight picture. This is where I tend to use the HAMR/Bravo4s as my go to
I really wish the game wouldn't naturally zoom everything. It should just be through the optic nothing in your peripheral should change and even within the scope theres always an artificial zoom that shouldn't happen.
You can do this - are you aware of the trick that lets you not zoom the screen? Bit fiddly and depends on your keybinds but i do it with free look and gradual lean. The idea is to get the optic "stuck" on the unzoomed mode
@Gigabeef yeah yeah I'm aware of it, I'm more meaning for it to be by default for everybody. It would tone down some of the really long range shots unless someone had a higher powered zoom. But yeah that trick, but for everybody.
It is baffling to me how badly BSG butchers scope reticles. HAMR, ADO, ACOGs, Specter, Bravo, March Tactical, Kiba Prism (formerly Primary Arms Prism, licensing issue), are just completely wrong. The SB 1-8 is good so they can definitely do things correctly.
I just don't understand why the reticles aren't accurate to real life. The Bravo and HAMR have tiny reticles but in game they take up the whole scope. And the 3.5x ACOG? Absolutely bastardized, I feel bad for it.
There is an issue with the ELCAN that isn't present on other scopes. I thought it would be fixed by now but apparently it hasn't been, or at least I can still see it in this video. It seemingly defaults to some other FOV that is way larger than normal. As a result its 1x mode is actually something like 0.8x, zooming you *out* instead of in. That makes it basically useless because you could instead just use something with fixed magnification and a laser and save money that way.
I don’t mean to hate but this isn’t really an accurate representation of best optics. Again it may explain what scopes may be better on a AR, but say you use an semi or a sniper rifle a lot of the optics you may use on the AR can be excessive and or not sufficient.
The fact that you and others focus on, partially, the full auto performance / visibility makes me want to stay away from this channel. Sure, most of the playerbase uses full auto too often just to get a lucky hit and rarely tap and that's why many of those idiots miss their shots. If you spray with full auto with anything else than hipfire or a 1x scope you're doing something wrong... Also I know that I'm part of the tiny plaerbase that Doesn't use meta builds or follow what youtubers / streamers say. I started playing the game when you didn't have any content creators that posted guides and whatnot so you'd have to come up with your own plans and ideas.
Good Vid always, although one thing i would have liked to have seen is how these scopes stack up at night, as some while great during day raids, can be utterly terrible at night with NVG's due reticle glare.
Pretty much all if not all the magnified optics that don’t have thick areas of illumination like the tac 30 are usable at night now. They changed how much things glare at some point.
I had a quick look into it but as far as I can tell all the scopes darken in night settings. The nvg scope is probably your best bet for clear night shooting tbh
The Elcan's 1x zoom is actually 1.5x, I think. It's actually kind of handy that way, having irons, 1.5x, and 4x. There are also two variants, at two different (but similar) price points that tend to fluctuate.
One aspect you didn't test is how the reticle works with NVGs. There are some optics which are impossible to use with NVGs either because the reticle is too bright or unlit / too dark. One problem with the Elcan is those "backup iron sights".
What is with that optic with the reticle coming off the top? Also, ELCAN DR is my fav optic in games cuz the reticle is amazing. though in this game, that eye relief is a doozy

What an excellent video. This was INSANELY helpful and useful as a jew player
WHEN ARE U EVER FULL AUTOING WITH A 4X
Possibly the most subjective element in Tarkov.
Tell me you love charts without telling me you love charts >.>
Yep I love charts tbf
Nononono the sigs were already too expensive….
Am i the only one who dosent full auto with scopes?
I have to down vote all these streamer recommendations
Ny scope gonna triple in price t.t i hate you dad
Hammer is gross
If you use a red dot with a razer scope you're just wrong. I've already killed you with my laser from hip fire before you got the stupid red dot up.
Well I'd also like to see which have the darkening bug.
There are also two variants, at two different (but similar) price points that tend to fluctuate.
only because of fov decreasing, if you ads with 1x and turn your head you will se same
Do a video on night vision with scopes. Cheers
prokill barter mentioned
I feel like it's not fair to rate the NcSTAR as bad in full auto since it has a built in red dot on top
