It’s real life, she is saying papa don’t preach, and she is begging for sound advice at the same time. She has embraced the fact she is in big trouble. At the end of the song the father reaches out to help. The song speaks to all the right things in this situation, the boyfriend is stepping up, marriage is in the planning, and with a Grandfather to be ready to lend a hand while the young couple struggles to cope with their new responsibilities to the child.
