I bought a new arowana 2 weeks back it’s only 7inch and I start feeding only pellets for few days. It’s difficult to get live food. Now the problem is, even if I give him live food he is not taking it. He is eating only pellets now. Can he get enough minerals and protein from eating pellets only ??

I have 2 lights, one normal light and one tanning light. I turn on normal light at night and switch off tanning light. You cannot turn off light totally, your fish might be frightened if it is too dark when someone turns on light, it will be frightened.

I do not agree for the so called tanning lights/ bulb… however, bright lights may enhance pigmentation of fish scales… it enhance the color …brighten it…

Is it okay to tanned young arowana? My arowana is around 20 cm in lenght and i have tried to use tanning light for the color.But he seems letharghic after i turn it on for about 1 hour, should i wait for my arowana to get bigger or should i just trained him with the tanning light?
jimmy sugiarto , usually fish is not comfortable if the light is too bright and if you tan too long. Switch off at night and let it rest. if your fish’s body +tail =20 cm, you can wait for a while to start from 25cm. If body +tail =30 cm, you can start to train , slowly increase the tanning duration.

Shreyash Pednekar , you should continue to use without washing. You should only use your tank water to roughly clean them. Don’t use tap water. The bio media will grow good bacteria , don’t wash the bacteria away

You have to monitor your fish after the first time you install the tanning light. from morning until night time before you sleep, switch it off, let your fish rest for 8 hours. Some fish might not be able to be tanned for such a long time at the beginning. you can gradually increase the tanning duration.

I find it better if you use cricket for the main food. Worm can be harmful to arowana digestive system , especially to young arowana.

amzn.to/2Ug3iCl, you can use this kind of blackwater extract to achieve it. maintain between 6 -7. Don't make it too low.
4:35 --> ph 5.5 - 7 how come water can be slightly acidic?
Note: do not feed ur Arowana with shrimp or prawn (high-fat diet) because of its fat content. This will cause the fish to store much fat and mostly it will store it around or behind its eye socket which will cause the fish to have its eye popped out (eye droop syndrome).

One problem for me that is in Night tank light should be off or on
If you are switching on now and your fish has no uneasy sign, you can turn it on but if you feel that your fish has uneasy sign like no appetite or stagnant without movement, it is better to turn off at night and let it rest for some time. I turn off my light at night.

yes, I put some sea water salt every time when I change water. Actually, salt is not compulsory, it is just for stress reduction or healing if your fish has some cuts on the body.
Use clown loaches to make yr arowana eat pallet.. only the best smell pallet they like. Not all type of pallet they eat

Q1) Is the size of the aquarium important to grow a beautiful arowana? Is 3 feet aquarium enough?
Q2) How long does it take for a arowana to grow into a beautiful adult fish?
Q3) Whether an arowana can grow to become a beautiful colourful adult or not, does it depends on genes?
3 feet isn't enough. It should be atleast 6ft in length to at least reach it's maximum size. For the third question, it really does depend on the gene in order for it to become beautiful, but having a mediocre genes, you can still groom the arowana and it can still turn out beautiful

@@nalinjayathissa9376 , based on fish farm breeders' advice, do not change more than 30%. You might clear off good bacteria in your fish tank. It takes time to grow bacteria in the media inside your sump tank. Another point is that, if you change 80% meaning that you use tap water to change directly and put anti-chlorine or some other solution to stabilise right? what if the tap water quality has some surge. It really depends on your Arowana's immune system. :) By the way, how is your fish's color and condition?
