The chicken glaze reveal was outstanding! Your instructions were clear and precise as always. I just have to make these, fingers crossed. Please don’t stop making video’s as I really appreciate them.
I always learn so much from your videos. Glaze mixing and application is a difficult skill and you make it look so easy. Thank you for making these videos.
Fab chicken jugs and very clever idea with the outdoor. Bush decorative protectors , love the birdies on the teapots too I think the fake ash and oatmeal one that didn’t run is rather nice as it is !some of the temoku gold effects are spectacular 👍🏻
I love your work, wonderful pieces and beautiful glaze combos. You really know your glazes and firing. Thank you and enjoy it all. And I’ve learned a lot!!
I am so happy you posted! Such beautiful work. I used your tutorial to make a few of the chicken creamers, lol, you make it look VERY easy. But it’s really fun and I’m going to keep at it, thank you a bunch from Chicago
Well done Sally. I just unpacked the gas kiln again, this one had a shorter soak and there were no runs. It was a great firing, I think the chickens would have been better in this firing.

This is the second time I have watched this, and I would love to replicate your glazes, unfortunately, we do not have a gas kiln and our clay is rated to cone 7- 9. But I have watched other videos. of yours and I love the laid-back style that you impart the information. Love it from Australia
Would you also show us the stilts your fire the mugs on? I did that on my last kiln load but think there might be better stilts out there. I gave you a mention on my video. 😉
Where I live, it's difficult to find a studio for students that offer that nice large gas kiln! Can you estimate the cost of 1 firing, or maybe per month if you know how many firings that would include?? Just curious.
I have no idea, i am not that business savvy. Gas kilns are expensive to buy. Mine is probably a $30K kiln plus all the shipping and install costs. The kiln shelves cost more than a 10CuFt kiln. You might try contacting colleges in your area. I bought a 32CuFt fibre gas kiln for $1000 in 2007, it was considered a hazard in the college. It worked fine for me.
I used to worry about that so I glaze over two days allowing the first base coat to thoroughly dry. The second day I have to dip twice because that is when I get the oatmeal blends. My glazes have not been significantly changed and I use them up pretty fast. Thanks.
It is a dense car washing sponge but upholstery cushion sponge also works. Use a soldering iron to melt the sponge. Do it outside since the fumes are toxic.
Thank you so much for these videos. Westcote Pottery ROCKS!
I love watching you work. I learn so much, each time
Thanks Juli
The teapots are perfect! And chickens are amazing! Colors, glaze, forms - I love them.

Such a brilliant selection of glazes!
Most are from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes, that cuts down on the unknown mistakes.

Thanks stay cool this summer.
The chickens are great. Could you show how you sanded some that run.
I have included it in past videos but I have so many I cannot remember where.
Would you also show us the stilts your fire the mugs on? I did that on my last kiln load but think there might be better stilts out there. I gave you a mention on my video. 😉
I get them from Bailey Pottery in NY. There are different stilts, some do not go to Cone 6.
Thank you for sharing!❤
Vaughn, would you make a video of how you grid off the overflow on the 2nd rooster?
Can you explain more clearly, I am not sure what you mean.
HERMOSO TRABAJO SALUDOS DESDE PERU
I'm going to try my version of your fish and the chicken creamer. It won't look anything like yours, but it will be fun!
Having fun is the main goal. Good luck.
I have vase has Ashe glaze in gold colo.. any idea glaze name? Just wondering. Love chickens gold brown color not tomato. Beautiful work. ❤️
If you send a photo I will take a look. Thanks for watching.

You have so many really nice glazes….doyou share your glaze recipes?

Muy bonitas muchas grácias .
Your kiln- furniture looks very different from mine. What do you use?
I got them from Bailey Pottery in NY.
Can you make a tail feather over the back for a handle? Or would not hold up.
I am sure anything goes with these pieces.
very nice chicls and bowls and evertthing else
Thanks, the glazes ran more than I wanted.
Does it not contaminate your glazes when you dip bucket to bucket?
I used to worry about that so I glaze over two days allowing the first base coat to thoroughly dry. The second day I have to dip twice because that is when I get the oatmeal blends. My glazes have not been significantly changed and I use them up pretty fast. Thanks.
Love the lot!
Thanks Freddie, the firing was slightly disappointing. I just did another firing and the glazes were way better, posting it on the weekend.
love love love
Thanks.
Hi Vaughan, Did you make or cut the spong designs ??
It is a dense car washing sponge but upholstery cushion sponge also works. Use a soldering iron to melt the sponge. Do it outside since the fumes are toxic.
@@Vsmithpots Thats a great idea, my wife has a styrofoam hot knife. I think that might work also. Think you for the idea. eddiespottery.
@@eddiespottery8439 That sounds perfect.
What is the green on the bottom of some pots? Underglaze?
It is my Matt turquoise glaze found on Pintorest.
Love ❤ LOVE!!!!!!!
Thanks Connie
What is the turquoise color on most of your chickens?
It is either my blue green Copper red glaze or turquoise matt glaze.
