I've thought about taking a ceramics class for about two years now. Your channel motivated me so much that I signed up for a 10 week class! Thank you so so much for your inspiration!!!! I am in the middle of my class and I am absolutely loving it 🙌🏽😍

MrsBeckyDaisy it’s not as good as being in an in-person class, but check out Clay Buddies and other ceramics Facebook groups. It’s helpful to see the good and bad, the experiments others make, so do look out for communities like that 😀

Finally! Someone that talks! I love your spirit of experimentation! You seem to me like a free spirited, sort of a hippie guy that has a lot of fun doing what you do! Enthusiasm is contagious! And what i got from this video, is, it is OK to experiment, even if sometimes you fail, because eventually you may ":get lucky".
And my favorite piece was the cup with the red flecks peeping out from under the dark, or overlaid on the dark, whatever the case may be, that was a really nice effect.
    Thanks for the cool video!

I’m totally here!! Haha you know that though! Shout out to the die hard fans from day one ( or so). I hope you get some really cool combos. Honestly I found most glazed won’t drip willingly, outside of those combos you already have. So the addition of some Mayco flux after 1st glaze just on rim can really change things up. But I know extra step and extra cost. I add Ali item extra flux right where I want the long drips to go. Anyway later dude!

Favorite unloading peace have been some of the testers.

Love your channel, recent subscriber & aspiring potter, very fresh. QUESTION: what do you DO with your test tiles after they are fired? I'm still here! I watch until the very end every time and I check all the time to see when you have your next video up. I have learned so much from you and it helps me run my business Hobble Creek Pottery better. Your post where you received the stamp from Justin was life changing. So far, Justin has made me two stamps that are awesome! He is simply amazing. I had stamps made from a previous place and it was frustrating, to say the least. Justin fixed all the issues and now I'm stamping my mugs like crazy. Thank you for sharing all the things about running your pottery business. I know in this video you said that to show all the test tiles and what they were would be boring, but not to me. I had my pad and pen ready to take notes. :) Let me know if you ever plan to share your list of your glaze tests. I'm trying to find those perfect combos (since I love the drips too) so that I can streamline my glazing and save time and kiln shelves.

Test tile idea: maybe you thought about it, maybe it was suggested?
Take 6 tiles with 3 coloured glazes and try the following.
    1: a, b, c. 2: b, c, a 3: c, a, b. 4: c, b, a. 5: c, a, b. 6: a, c, b
Then you can see how each colour works either on the bottom, middle , top.
Then you’ll move onto the next 3 colours ...
Then you could create a new 3 buy taking all the previous ‘A A A’ ‘B B B’ etc. Working in batches of 3 every time.
It’s going to be a long process. But then you’ll have every single combination. 🤓 good luck

Well, the date says 2019, so like you said nobody hardly makes it to the very end. One, of the reason I am txting you now is because I have seen your 2021 new studio, and now have gone back to watch every video you have made. I am the one the posted youon my fb page to my front page fb. Yes, and also, since we just came through a year where someone thought it was quit plausible to run the entire country tweeting. Yea....NO.......we can all get along just fine without tweeting like a bird. You're right you already have enough of DMs and Etsy comments more than you can read probable. But, now that I've got so long winded sorry. Cuttin it short, LOL, that last few mins of those dedicated subscribers that you kept videoing for, I guess I am one of them. So...thankyou, your where right, when you don't get to big for your britches, is that right?, LOL You remember where you came from and truely appreciate both your craft and your people, it goes a very long way to who and what your character is. So...Thankyou for the very well put together videos, and as of course, your very excellent personality as well as, shall we not forget your pottery!! Pray the times dont change so much as to that your dream as well as I guess now your full time career is pottery, doesn't just slowly go away like so many other things. Would give you a suggestion, don't know if you would understand quit just yet in your stage. But, I did, look back at foreign pottery. from back to simple villages that everyone participated in a large wood kiln fire pottery, to.....as I love, the Japanese and Britain and German designs, that have kind of disappeared in all the hubub. I'm just saying if you ever heard something is something new again. It all comes back around. Just a suggstion, thats where I am going, not getting all stuck up on a particuliar style or kind anything. Keep your horizons very wide open and hopefully, you'll still be wide open working some 35 yrs from now, what you say. OK Latter Dude Sincererly Brad Myers

Hey Jon, I’m still here, and I agree with Aunt Debbie. NO TWEETING! I’d rather see you spend more time throwing pots and doing more detail on the glaze combinations. I liked the bowls. Were those the black and blue combinations? It went by so fast I didn’t get a good look.
What if you made your test tiles taller? Really do like the double foot on the tiles and the shelf created for the glaze to flow to without ruining your kiln shelves. But you’re combining 3 glazes and by the time they start doing the drips its at the bottom. My opinion.
I would like you to spend a little more time on detailing the combinations. I agree with you that some of the colors were just ok. I’m sure that with all the possible combinations there will be some wow! Moments. As usual though even seeing the so so ones shows everyone that glazes offer challenges and requires practice. Can’t wait for more test tiles. I look forward to all your videos. Prefer the channel to facebook and instagram. For me it’s just too much to keep up with. May be a generational thing as I am like Aunt Debbie “Old enough to be your mother” LOL But I love your enthusiasm and you inspire me to keep trying new things.

Jon- I bought a kiln when I was 13 and still have it. I’m now 53. I haven’t used it in 15 years maybe. It has a cone sitter. Old school. I only fired cones 03 and 06. Nothing hotter. And 15 years ago that made my electric bill go up $50. Do you have a special permit or business use allotment on your electricity so you get better rates or is my kiln so old it’s no longer energy efficient? 😬

Forget Twitter. The info you give is already on FB, Instagram it gets time consuming and repetitive for you. 😁

I went to continent clay website and could not locate the bagged dry glaze. Is it their brand? All I saw were liquid glaze offers

I LOVE your videos. I wish I did pottery. I love being artistic but no money for a kiln or really space. But you do inspire me to work with different mediums. Love the colours you choose. I always stay to the end of your videos. :) until the next one!
