You're not preaching to anyone Steve, you're helping drinkers & anyone associated with a drinker to understand more. Your efforts can only be applauded & more so, because it really is upto the individual to cut down & hopefully stop, just as it was for us & anyone that's said 'no' to drink & is reaping the huge rewards.
I have an original song on my TH-cam channel called "Just One Drink" that talks about this very subject of never being able to have enough drinks. I get the craziest looks when playing it live while performing at bars because they know that issue too but dont want to be honest with themselves. Similar to someone binge watching TV shows, it taps into our human nature in the deepest and darkest ways. I will always shake my head that alcohol is a legal item in western countries, meanwhile it kills and sickens thousands upon thousands of people each year.

Personally I don't agree with drinking 0% drinks with my addiction, bad idea. Someone once told me ' Non Alcoholic beers are for non Alcoholics ' and it stuck with me. But each to their own.
Bumped into an old drinking pal stood in a pub doorway drinking his pint. He looked like he'd aged 20yrs since the 5yrs ago I last saw him. On a brief chat with him & me saying 'it's killing you pal' his last words were 'I'll just have one more, a last drink' He's lost everything to drink & at 42, I can't see him seeing his 45th birthday.
@@keepitreal1547 My best mates dad lost everything to drink. When I was a lad 20 years ago he had everything, his own home, girlfriends plural (!) , a brand new red bmw, he was always a heavy drinker, bottle of wine or more a night, one Sunday he got into his car after a heavy session, police pulled him over and watched him fall out of his car. He once joked with me that he blew the second highest reading in our county 😔 He’s living in a run down flat his mate owns now, most days seen smoking outside the pub looking so thin. He’s such a nice guy too it’s heartbreaking to see such a fall from grace. 😔
After nearly ten years dry, i stated watching your videos, they made me realise how much I missed drink. Just finished my first pint and havent felt so good in years.
Me and my drinking pal say 'one for the road' its never ending how many times we have said it, and continue with the drink, I have managed to stop a few times he is less so, I call it the demon drink, no matter how rough its made me feel I get back on it for the buzz, I will keep trying to get back on the wagon, many thanks for your channel and honesty mate, not many have the guts you've got to say it like it is, all the best.
Another great insight into the brain of an addict. It’s clear from your videos that you always struggled to moderate your consumption even from a young age . I am glad to say I can moderate my drinking. I do set a limit and stick to it. How? My brain seems to focus on the next day. I get to a point and know if I carry in then the next day will be suffering , hang over, sickness. For me right now that’s enough motivation to say no to one last drink. My excessive drinking comes from boredom. If i had 4 days off work in a row i would say I will only drink maybe 2 nights of the 4. But then it comes to a day I wasn’t gonna drink at all and I will be bored and that leads to the craving to have a drink as I’m not working day after. I would still stick to my daily limit but extra nights drinking add up in terms of damage to your health. I can see how this could potentially lead to me drinking more more in the future which is why I had a break away from alcohol, and why I now focus on moderating consumption, taking as much time off as I can. I think I may attempt to go sober long term
Thanks Steven, I have never drank in moderation, sometimes it felt like l was rebelling. I always wanted just one more and get home and have another one. It is a drug and it is addictive maybe people who drink in moderation don’t get addicted because they drink in moderation. My father was a moderate drinker, everything in moderation he’d say, he could go all year and have one cigarette at Christmas and I think I’ve rarely seen him drunk.

I never drank a drop Sunday to Thursday but I would sure make up for it on Fridays and Saturdays and get completely plastered.i guess you call that 'binge drinking'.That was an addiction in itself.I guess there are many shades and styles of problem drinking.I've been completely alcohol free for 6 months now and I feel great. Thanks for the videos Steve, they are keeping me from caving in on the weekend.
@@stevencurry215 Already sub'd. I honestly think it's sugar/carb addiction too especially with beers (not so much spirits). My reason being, as the alcohol is damaging both the liver and pancreas, the body then starts to struggle to process the carbs properly. Like pouring water into the car instead of oil. It doesn't end well.
When I’m low whatever is in the house I will drink so I try to keep stocks low if any at all. I buy what I will drink that night. When you said in a previous video about having slabs of Stella that would be dreadful for me too, too much temptation for that “one last drink” mentality.
