Kev, this is interesting to see, as this Disco had broken down and was being transported on one of our recovery trucks when it suddenly caught fire, luckily our driver managed to off load it before the car was engulfed in flames.
Hiya Kev, I’m a roadside recovery driver myself and come across situations like this all the time. A huge piece of advice mate is to always put your chains around the bottom arms of a wreck! I can guarantee it will pull it up the bed perfectly straight every time! Really enjoying your videos mate, look forward to the next one 👍

No kev you're doing it all wrong, what you want to do is slam the truck in reverse with the ramp down take a big run up get to about 30/40 mph scoop it up and smash it in to the back of the golf, put the ramp up and drive off job done !

@@KevTee your using your head and the hydraulics not your back which is the best way.try to keep a few blocks of wood on board to help angle cable pulls and to prop cars over i would have stuck a block under the back of that landy lowered the bed and pushed it over but you got it with the cotton reel using your noodle not your back superb effort.can we see round the yard some time we keep getting glances and it all looks like gold to me!
Yeah I couldn't side pull unit it was right up on the bed as there is no where to mount the cotton reel further down the ramp so just had to do what I could until that point. I'm not completely green, I have 10 years recovery experience, just a little rusty 😂
That winch is amazing. Do take care, all sorts of nasties get left on burnt out wrecks you don't want on your skin or inhaled. Wonder if your company knew was so completely gutted and in such a hazardous condition when they took that job. If had could have sent you out as a special pickup with appropriate PPE and tarp to cover it. As you say cannot carry everything you might only need once in a blue moon.
Sliding sideways because the bridal on the front has different lengths each side. What might have worked, if you just pulled on the right hand chassis rail. Be safe as you said lots of nasty stuff in a burnt wreck like that.
Re wipes, big wipes are good too use to use them alot you can get a tube like you have or even a bigger ones One side rough to get off the grim then other side soft

A problem solving multi drop driving job, yes I have a job that involves a bit of lateral thinking. Its not all driving every and any job is different!! Slow and steady wins the race.
I would have pulled forward and put a ratchetstrap round the the base of that nearby tree just to nudge it over a bit. Also could have used the bumper crash bar as a lever by the back wheel. Another day at the office.
Unfortunately we don't have a hiab vehicle as it would get very little use in salvage, so when we get the odd insurance job were contracted to complete we just have to do our best with what we've got 👍
Not sure some of the contents of that wreck didn't deposit on the road during the journey back to the yard, I'm sure you did your best of course not doubting that but bits were falling off all over it. As I'm sure others are wondering why you got sent to pick up that wreck? Anyway great video and appreciate your content as always :)
you need some sort of car skate board under each wheel before attempting to tow on your truck.. Was the car orange lol..? I think i would strap the car from one side to the other x 2 as well as one corner different to each other..in case of any movement .. Brave way to load it..iv'e done a bit of car recovery myself i enjoyed it..solo job but sometime 2 people could work better..for handling purposes. I had to load a rover 75 1962 car no electric winch a sloping driveway (downwards) and the road sloping in opposite direction..So naturally to say it was mega mega heavy winching it on by hand lol..Good fun though..
Great job there Kev. As far as the video goes, great and informative as usual just too many adverts for me. some were every 3 mins or so. I suppose thats the disadvantage of just having basic you tube but needs must. Keep the videos coming, great entertainment.
use the winch. Attach it to the right rear wheel and straighten it. my response came after 19 minutes of watching, and at 23 minutes you do what I indicated. I should have looked further before responding. 🤣🤣🤣
Just take it down the paint shop it be good as new in no time at all when I got gentleman asked you if you knew who owned the vehicle I would have told him to check the licence plate
will the office chase the Owner/Insurer/Transport Co for payment for the Recovery? ....coz I'm guessing in that state its value's so low it don't cover Trent's 'costs'

I know there’s literally loads being stolen at the moment, it’s normally defenders they go for but the old discos aren’t safe! We nearly had our pinched outside the BRI in Bristol, came out in the rain with my wife, kids and mother in law after visiting her dying husband to find the alarm fob didn’t work and a group of Eastern European’s sniffing around, one was in a taxi and asked if we wanted a lift!! I managed to get into it and put my diagnostics tool in and reprogram the key and she fired up, quickly after the taxi with the other drive off at speed, Bastards! I would think this has been stolen and burnt out unfortunately but it could be a fire!
Yes you need a waste carriers licence which we obviously do for all the cars we collect. We don't have a accident hi-ab recovery truck as we're in the salvage business and there's very little requirement for such vehicle.

when you got the spile and roller out and used your winch to drag it sideways i went yes! finally he,s got it.well done kev your getting there.

Turn your rear number plate round and reverse back, should come off. That's how we used to do it

the reason the back end was sliding over is your chains are not equal length and its pulling more on the ns so trying to spin car round

If you take a cinder block and, two chains on the back right wheel rim. That would stop it from sliding
