Kev, this is what I love about you, your one of those that admits to mistakes and even explains them in your vlog. It is not all easy as some videos suggest and this is a perfect example of that. Accidents happen. The main thing is the Golf or the truck didn't sustain major damage. Things can always be worse, you do a great job as always for Trent's & for us viewers you make cracking content. You are one of the most honest & down to earth youtube truck vloggers in my eyes, hats off to you mate!! Keep up the good work :) P.S. Was not expecting that with the Mazda, Luckily no sparks when you rolled it off the truck haha.
I used to leave the winch half way down the bed. Welded a loop on and clipped the hook on. That way it saved about 20 mins on a 2nd job non driver....and stopped me getting soaking wet waiting for the cable to unwind🤣
I drove a converted LDV beaver tail for a small breakers yard, I welded a ring to the rear crossmember just ahead of the rear of the chassis to hook the winch to before going out to save having to run the line out at a collection job.
Hi Kev as I may have said back in the 60’s we had to siphon all petroleum out of export cars to stop the chance of fire , one ship did catch fire in the Atlantic , your smart not to take that last car, one spark and it’s barbecue time.
Oh dear, that nice easy day you were hoping for in london really went south! Clearence issues, onto cable issues to that monstrosity of a wreck! Glad you didnt have to take it in the end and that it didnt set the truck on fire on the dismount!
Great video yet again Kev, I thought you handled that Mazda situation calmly and with the upmost professionalism and managed to roll it back into its original parking spot. I did however find your spark comment as you rolled the Mazda off your ramp very amusing. But seriously thank God no one threw a cigarette butt on your ramp on the way back that would of ended badly for those two cars and the Renault.
Interesting when we scraped our Merc, we had just brimmed the tank. Thankfully my wife did not think of recovering the fuel. Its been a long time since I tasted petrol ;) Syphone city would have been my way.
If, in emergencies, you have a similar problem but cannot leave the car, soap (when a soft, thick paste from soaking in water) smeared over the hole will react with petrol and go hard and temporarily seal the hole, enough to get you out of trouble - people's lives have been saved in the outback of Australia using this - when they've punctured a tank on a rough road, or a Ford's tank has broken open from poor manufacture or similar. I don't think it works with diesel fuel, only petrol.
Most modern cars have a plastic collar that unscrews so you can take the fuel pump and pick up out of the tank... if only ppl looked under the back seat , many tanks are accessible from there (but not the mk1 focus - have to drop the tank to remove that pump assembly)
Dean Bell The worst thing is on some older Focus models, the tank straps are have corroded to the point that disturbing them means they won’t go back properly and need changing or the fixing snspscas you try to undo it. You have to wonder why they couldn’t follow VAG or Vauxhall in accessing the pump from within the car, or the decision to use thin mild steel straps instead of moulding the fixings into the tank body as almost all other manufacturers do. Ford seem to be full of bad ideas like that, and yet in the past they had some good ideas, like the escort door hinge where the pin was also the fixing or the single 10mm bolt fixing for focus mk1 mirrors
We were around your neck of the woods last week Kev, had a weeks holiday in Poole, just around the corner in the Premier Inn, I said to my Mrs we might see you, she said why don't we see if we can catch you leaving the yard, I said yeah if you want to be up at 5am to see him, I said to her whilst I love watching your videos, I ain't getting up at 5am on my holiday , noooo way!!

Piercing the tank to remove the fuel - that's a new one. Whatever happened to good ol honest pilfering via siphons?
Is piercing tank a common practice in the UK?
Don't think so! Not by theives anyway. I think it was just the customer being stingy wanting their fuel back. Actually fuel theft doesn't really seem to happen anymore. Now it's catalytic converters getting nicked from mainly Hondas.
Newer cars have anti syphon measures in place to help stop syphoning of fuel
Piercing the tank is not commonplace in UK lol
they closed the mcdonalds at fleet. im pissed.
