So, assuming that Pat Garrett and his two deputies lied about it, why did Pete Maxwell and more than 100 people from Ft. Sumner also lie about seeing Billy the Kid dead and buried, never changing their stories the rest of their lives?

As a Las Cruces, New Mexico native. Billy the Kid has always been an idol to us. Not because he was a killer, but because he opposed the corruption in New Mexico. Nothings changed. In fact it’s still the Wild West here, and no one talks about it. I grew up with killers who are walking free to this day. Didn’t know murder can only get you 5 years here. Anyways, do I think Brushy Bill Roberts is Billy the Kid? Idk, I’d like that to be true. But did Pat Garret Kill Billy the Kid? The fact that you still can’t say definitively one way or the other is all the proof you need to say no, he didn’t.

A DNA is impossible due to the fact the real location of Billy's grave is unknown. However, there is more evidence that Brushy Bill is actually Billy the Kid, than there is his is not. From facial recognition, to same wound locations, wrist and hand size. Not counting sworn testimony. Even the grandson of A.P. "Paco" Anaya, a man most supporters of the historical status quo claim helped "bury Billy the Kid" (and conducted one of the supposed coroner's inquests). And his grandson claims he and his family believe that not only did Garrett not kill Billy the Kid, but he was in fact, Brushy Bill Roberts. According to Paco the face was shot off thus not being able clearly identify if it was Billy the Kid. Oddly enough Billy's horse and tact was gone the next morning.

Haha. Even when presenting Brushy evidence, it destroys their story. Not a word from the Salizars about this, but this guy is to be believed. Why would the widow of Garret tell a nine year old kid something that horrific, even if it were true? And even if she were that disturbed to talk like that to kids, why would she tarnish her own family legacy? It's like how the Brushy people are fond of saying Garret's daughter said in an interview that her father did not kill Billy, yet that interview has never surfaced. And Affidavits are only legally binding when used in court in place of a personal testimony. I do love the idea that Ignio Killed Garret. That would have been a satisfying end.

I hope you guys on this channel aren't journalist because I noticed that most of the presentations you give are tilted towards Garrett and against Billy the kid, evidence that brushy bill might have been the kid. Heck who knows unless there's a DNA test there's no way we can positively assume anything. Weather brushy bill was or was not Billy the kid we must not as journalists take sides. we must present the evidence and not our opinions. On my recent recent visit to Fort Sumner BTK museum I noticed that the museum was basically tilted towards Pat Garrett, he was a corrupt policeman just like that policeman that killed that guy with his knee! Remember absolute power over our fellow Americans. 'always corrupts'. Pat was this
type of person. He took the law into his own hands and I think
you know he was just a corrup cop how can anybody believe anything he possibly did whether it was good, right, wrong, up or down. He was in self-serving self-promoting SOB I'm sorry to have to say that but that's how I feel. As far as looking for truth I think it's just a wild goose chase there's no absolution to this story about BTK. I feel bad that the kid was just a mix up kid who got himself mixed up with the wrong crowd. Killing people but he did not deserve to be murdered, I haven't seen any posters that read wanted dead or alive. That's my $0.10 worth I guarantee you can buy yourself a cup of coffee in Lubbock Texas with my word and a $20 bill, thanks anyways by the way you have a very entertaining channel.

He had a interview on TH-cam around 2015 but it has since been removed. I don't think he believed Brushy was Billy the Kid. He said Billy went to "Black Rock Mexico" which I believe translates to Piedras Negras and that he say's that Billy went straight to Yginio's ranch after the escape in Lincoln to get his leg irons removed. He also said that Billy wrote a letter thanking Pat Garrett for the horse and put it in the saddle which corroborates what Sheriff Graves was saying. He said that Pat Garrett told Yginio to tell Billy to leave the territory because he couldn't help him anymore. He also says that the family has letters that Billy wrote from Mexico.

I'm really shocked that anyone believes that because Pat Garrett had shot the wrong Man twice before. I don't believe that Pat Garrett deliberately let Billy escape I just think he pulled the trigger on the wrong man as he had done twice before his deputy say it his daughter says it you know it's done in my opinion. Who the hell is going to tell their flesh and blood daughter oh I shot the wrong man yet again. Who lies on their deathbed the deputies both on their deathbed said it had been bothering them all their life because they signed statements that it was Billy the kid and they knew quite well that it was not. Back then policemen or law officers didn't have qualified immunity if he they found out he shot a man especially a man that wasn't wanted he could his head could be in the noose. The other two times he got lucky he shot a man that was wanted Dead or alive anyway but what if this time he shot someone that was completely innocent well he would have to cover that up or risk hanging. I mean pet Garrett has a record of shooting the wrong man that's why most people nowadays believe that Billy the kid escaped weather brush your bill is Billy the kid or not it doesn't really matter. Their stories about many gunfighters but the two that I believe unequivocally escaped is Butch Cassidy and Billy the kid no doubt about it. Yeah I am a little surprised that anybody believes that Pat Garrett finally got it right and it Billy the kids six sense was suddenly shut off. And then he done the stupidest thing that Billy the kid has ever done he walked around aimlessly barefooted with a butcher knife while the strangers roaming around that's not Billy the kid I'm surprised that anyone believes it is.

Applying Occam's razor or the principle of parsimony, i.e., with competing theories or explanations, the simplest one with the least reliance on other factors is the more likely to be correct, I believe that BTK was shot and killed by Pat Garrett that night in 1881 in Fort Sumner.
As for the idea that some town drunk was shot in the face to double as a dead BTK seems somewhat far fetched. As stated in previous presentations, Fort Sumner only had a population of 200 townsfolk. You kill one out of two hundred and it's noticeable. Then you need everyone in that town to be OK with that and keep it a secret, and that sounds implausible to me.

I'm not a fan of Pat Garrett, I think he was every bit as "dirty" as ayone else in the LCW, but to think that he would murder an innocent bystander and then attempt to pass him off as the kid to the many people there who knew the Kid and viewed the body prior to burial...well that one stretches even the most vivid of imaginations to the breaking point. Affidavits are nothing more than a story someone is willing to swear to. I could swear an affidavit today that I had lunch with Bigfoot and Elvis...doesn't make it true. So, offering affidavits as proof is meaningless. Unless there was actual proof offered along with the affidavit, it's nothing more than someones story. It then becomes a matter of credibility, whether you choose to believe the individual telling the story.

When being interviewed by William Morrison, Brushy Bill Roberts told him that is was his friend Billy Barlow that was killed by Garrett. I also listened to William Tunstill when he interviewed Ola Everhard a relative of Jesse James and how the two, BTK and Jesse were friends and how they were tied together. She also stated she knew BTK and said he was born in the last hour of the last day of December, 1859 in Buffalo Gap, Tx. She also stated that Jesse and Billy became friends when once Jesse had been shot in the shoulder and sought help from an old friend who he rode with in Quantrill's Raiders during the civil war, that person was James Roberts, BTK's father and at the time she said BTK was 7 years old and Jesse was 12-15 years older. She also went on to say that it was a guy named Bigelow that was killed by Bob Ford and his brother not Jesse. Bigelow was disliked by Jesse because he belonged to the Slade gang and every time they pulled a robbery he used Jesse's name. Ola states she has a letter from Bob Ford's niece that says the Ford's would never have shot Jesse because they were first cousins. Afterward Jesse went under the alias of James Frank Dalton, Jesse chose that name by using his sir name as his first his brother's name Frank and Dalton which was his mother's maiden name. Ola claims to have proof in family letters she has. All in all a very interesting interview
