Hello Lauren, it's nice to meet you. This 76-year-old wishes to thank you for your lessons. I am a self-taught player (not great) (yet), but you are showing me what I miss, you are helping me to fill in the things I need. You have gained a new follower. This lesson about holding the pick was just what I needed. Please keep them coming (could you do some 50s and 60s music)? Thank you.
Hi Lauren - my solution to stop my guitar pick from slipping was to buy some anti-slip tape and stick it on the pick. I also use a two hole punch to punch a hole in the pick, then use a round file to make the hole just big enough to slip onto the capstan. So I store six picks of various thicknesses right on my guitar headstock :)
Thank-you Lauren. Great video. Im in that hard to hold onto pic category 😊 Recently I found a hybrid pic with a rubbery grip. (DAVA) It works well for me. Thanks again!
I find playing with the pointy end of the pick sometimes too sharp on the snare/tones. So occasionally I also play with the round side to get a bit softer tone.
Hold the pick with your thumb flat across the wide part and your first finger gripping loosely, keeping it firm enough to stay in place but relaxed for smooth playing. Thanks for sharing, Lauren! - Lipika - Team Evan Carmichael
