@@Nerdmaid I think you have a good balance: You give the show a fair chance. You have hopes for it. And you clearly enjoy some aspects of it. But instead of attacking it just foe the sake of attacking, it you you raise lots of valid questions and concerns. I think your observations and concerns are very on target. Like you I wish the show had done a better job with the writing and character development - and I wish it had followed the lore a bit more. Thanks again for your commentaries!
There are some hints that Adar *might* be modeled after Maedhros, because he was a prince, a warlord, and canonically chained to a mountain peak. But he was famously one-handed, a ginger, and Galadriel's cousin. One would assume she would have recognized him. XD Thank you for the breakdown, I love hearing your opinions!
I'm glad you get to read the Silmarillion for yourself. Its so good. It makes sense. It can be a little bit repetitive like aome parts of the bible, when a chapter will start with a summary of the story so far. But Sauron is hardly in it. Sauron isn't inately interesting, hes just a symbol. I think maybe the show makers don't really understand the scope that some fantasy can have that can only be done with tight timelines and the visible passage of time. Anyway, it was fun to hear you express my opinion lol.
