Hi Hugo, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Sounds like a perfect scenario to use the camera and enjoy life - during an unexpected stay in a unknown town in a foreign country. I hope to do it more often myself! Best wishes and stay safe! Pawel P.S. I really like the photo with cyclist (in B&W). Not sure is it the light or the composition, or contrast, but it just speaks to me. Well done!
Hi Pawel, the same happens to me with the cyclist image, it just call my attention, stand out from the other photos Id take. Probably is all together, light, shadows and movment combine. ...It was a perfect scenario, and the hotel was paid by the insurance! ;-D
Worth checking out the just launched Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 Mk ii, small and wonderful according to the early reviews, I’m waiting for it to arrive in the UK
@@marcusoutdoors4999 Hi I'm also considering that one :) Please do let us know when you have it. It seems to be excellent. I hope the bokeh isn't too swirly :)
@@myleicam8546 It is actually quite exciting (for Camera types) it is 198grams and 37mm in length, unless you get the brass bodied one which is 255g, so quite small and light even in brass, also it comes with either single or multi coatings. Retail seems to be $850 in the US, £800 in the UK. The difference compared with the Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 mk1 optically is it is supposed to be sharp close up at wide apertures (relative to the old one) and it has a minimum focus distance of 0.7m. Only Fred Miranda seems to have reviewed it yet. Once again though, thank you for your video, very nice and relaxed with some great shots.
The focus shift is a problem, but I can live with it, light weight and image quality for me are prevalent. Good news are that is not an extensive lens in second hand market ;-)
Again some superb imagery here. Thank you for sharing. I like to recover the shadows of the M9-P’s DNG and let the images almost look like they were made with the M8. The color reproduction is very similar.
Hugo, would you buy Leica M9-P with “old” sensor? Or is it too much risk? Meaning that with sensor some Leica had corrosion problems. Its works good now...
Hola Juan, enhorabuena por tu nueva M9-p, creo que te va a gustar mucho, y si al principio te parece que va muy lenta (me pasó a mi) no desesperes, una tarjeta de memoria adecuada puede hacerla mejorar.
Hola Hugo I honestly like all the photos you showed in this video. And you did good while waiting for get your car fixed. You picked up you camera and take good photos ✌️✌️😎😎

@@myleicam8546 👍👍 by the way I got my new 50 mm F/1.5 SC Voigtlander nokton MkII its a brand new sonnar. It is amazing lens. I use it on my Leica monochrom typ 246
Thanks a lot for another superb video. I’m using the Sonnar with an M10R. I experience front focusing up till f2.8. Do you have the same problem, and if yes, what do you do to mitigate? If I use the range finder to focus, I always have to move my head around 5 cm forward after I focus from f1.4-f2.8
Hi Elie, I experience a similar problem, the focus shift, here is a video about it th-cam.com/video/At08IS_fLxQ/w-d-xo.html For me is not a big problem, I deal with it moving a beat the head or the focus ring. The shift is around 2 cm at 1.4. 5 cm seems too much.
Hello Hugo, beautiful images with your Leica M9 in the Provence, especially the one with the stairs to announce this new video. Did you really let your Leica M8 at home during this holiday ? Take care, greetings, Roger ;-)
Hi Roger, Yes, my M8 was resting at home during that trip, and it was nice to find her in the closet waiting for me ;-) Im happy you like the images, some are better than others... but this is how this work!
Hi, Hugo. So I’ve been struggling with my m8 color photography inside, because the camera needs light, and I am not as good as you or some of the guys here. I have Summicron and Summilux but it didn’t help. Long story short I tried a Chinese lens 50mm .95 and fell in love with M8 all over again. It has a purple cast on one side on the full frame m9 but on the m8 it’s magical because of the crop. I can send you a dng if you want to check it out. Full disclosure, I don’t sell lenses. I am just some guy from Alaska who likes taking pics.
Hi A C, Im glad you find a lens who makes you love again your m8. Of course you can send me a dng, tell me how you want to do it. I like the Nokton 1.5 and the Voigtlander 1.4 not only because the luminosity, also because they are light, very light, and this for me is a big plus.
@@myleicam8546 Hi, Hugo! Sorry for the slow response! Here's the link to the dropbox folder with DNG files. I did a quick comparison with the Summilux 1.4 lens. www.dropbox.com/sh/0xe2vbla5d4rx12/AACW7r9UBWwy5adpH-KhN4pEa?dl=0 Let me know what you think! :-)
@@ac5040 Thank you for the images and the comparison, the photos are beautiful and the Ttartisan 50mm performs very well, very smooth. The lens and camera combination seems excellent to me, the low contrast and colours are very charming! Thanks again A.C.
I’ve made a mistake of getting both m8 and m9 and now stuck, unable to choose. I really want to keep just one. The struggle is real. Thank you for the great video. I enjoy looking at photography from your perspective.
It is simple. Keep both. I often take the M8 and M9-P at the same time, so I don’t need to change lenses. Mostly the 21mm on the M8 and a 50,90 or 135mm on the M9-P.
Thanks A C for your comment. I Agree with Funktrainer (Roger). This two cameras can live very well together. Enjoy them and if you need to repair one, you have the other.
Very nice.
Your videos remind me to slow down and be elegant.
Cheers, from Wyoming, USA!
Thanks Terry, im glad they have such an effect on you. Cheers and all the best!
Âlways nice photos Hugo - I like your videos very much
Thanks Roberto, Im glad you like them!
You have done it again Hugo. An other great presentation with SUPER images.
Thanks Jeff, I wasn't very happy with the images but it seems they are good enough ;-)
Superb, I visited there when I was a child, so very nice memories and inspiring use of black and white
Is a beautiful area, nice village, and probably not much change since you were there.

Hi, is this lens suitabel for Leica SL body? will it have the same problem as on M9? thanks
Probably you need an adapter, not sure. The focus shift problem should not occur in the Sl because is not a rangefinder.
@@myleicam8546 thanks. I have an adaptor for M lens.
When you B&W with your M9, do you just use the in camera JPEG? Or you convert with the raw.
I use DNG + B&W jpeg. And im usually very happy with the jpeg. Only convert from DNG when big recover from shadows or highlight is needed.

The M9 takes great black and white photos. I don’t see the need for a Leica monochrome.
Agreed, a monochrome is not between my camera desires. Is fantastic, but O have enough with what I have.
