Having seen him twice live, i have to say it goes beyond critics. Yes, sometimes he's mumbling, yes, sometimes you struggle to recognize his own songs by the way he's changing the rythm and the tone, yes, sometimes it seems that his voice is gonna break or he sounds false. But hell, there's something in the air with this dude and his musicians, that makes you feel, deep inside your heart and mind, that you're just facing a whole piece of America's history and music in one guy, filled with poetry, death, war, love, sins and blessing, and it makes you feel sad and happy in a somehow pure and perfect balance.
I've also seen him twice on stage, and I absolutely agree with everything you said ! I remember the last (and 2d) time I saw him live, in 2012, he was already mumbling his songs, and this for quite a while, and sometimes I was like " Wow Mr no, pleaase don't trash this one!", but finally, I resolved myself and let it all go, and found myself absolutely stunned by what was happening there below (I was much farer this time than 1st time), wich was Bob Dylan "saying" his songs.. when the show was over, I also felt a subjugated crowd feeling aproximately the same ..
Wish I could agree. I took my son to see him about 20+ years ago and he couldn’t sing worth a damn then. He should be ashamed for taking peoples ticket money.
Bobby, love your voice and style from youth until now❤️ Thank you for adding so much enjoyment in our lives...and your songs that were there at exactly the right times in our lives...we love you😊❤️
I saw Mr. Dylan for the first time on March 18, 2024 and again five days later. Had he sung this, I would have died on the spot. My favorite song by my favorite artist. Thank you, Bob Dylan, for our 60 years of music. ♥️♥️♥️

I don't see any reason to hate on one of America's greatest musical treasures. I love the way he plays every song different every time. Otherwise you’d get bellends there who like 1 or 2 songs and think they own him. The fact he does random songs most people have never heard of keeps them away from his gigs
Dylan's and Henrick's LP vinyl records are there for those who choose to go back to the origins. Fifty plus years later, the song endures with all its shape shifting or perhaps because of it and thus become relevant to a new generation. If Jimi were still alive, doubt seriously he would be playing an exact copy of what he originally recorded and relelased. RIP Jimi, you left us too soon.
Have seen Bob Dylan live 40 or so times, dating back to 1975 on the Rolling Thunder Revue (Nov 09; Durham NH), and he sounds great here ~ nothing like what I've been reading from so-called experts on music.
I 've seen Bob 40 Years ago... in Rotterdam, Unforgettable with Santana... When later he 'lost his voice I did not like to see him live... But I would go there Now (if he was in Holland, last time?) ... Bit it can't be No accident He starts with 'All Along the Watchtower! Masterpiece in Praag & Berlin ... In these Days where Planet Blue($) can Explode any Minute.... Still...
I made the mistake not going to Antwerp to see him this time. I thought the setlist was not for me but how was I to know he would play All along the Watchtower. Bob knew and knows Megiddo is warming up. This song has such tremendous power and prophecy under its hood.
He has this in common with Paul Simon. They don't just do carbon copies of the recorded versions of tracks. These are their songs, and they'll sing them how they like, and if you don't like it, put on a CD. Dylan is astonishing. You wonder if he was around today whether he would be able to succeed. All I know is that, like @papaniels35 says, he ain't gonna win any prizes for his voice, and all the other things you can say about him, but here he is, still doing something that transcends all of that.

Well i was strumming along to that (it's a straightforward set of chords, isn't it,) and seems to me it was in the same key as the original on John Wesley Harding, i only mention this because a lot of musicians change the key of a song to suit their ageing vocal chords but a guess with a voice like Bob's that just isn't an issue.🙂Saw him perform back in the early 80's with Santana and British band Lindesfarne. He must have been enjoying himself cos he did an encore, with Santana and Lindesfarne as i remember, bit of a hazy memory for some reason...🤩
Hmmmm. You're obviously not acquainted with much of his work. His imagery, wordpower and use of metaphor and other literary skills have influenced countless other great and influential writers such as Bruce Springsteen etc. Treat yourself and listen to his myriad other work. Imho I believe that much of it is indeed brilliant - certainly worthy of such an award.
