You generally do great reviews, but this one was terrible! Unboxing was nice. Did not test the 35+, which, as I load 9mm, 38/357, and 44mag/spl would have been very helpful. Also using a large ball powder, of course its going to flow in. Try some H110 or another fine high static powder with a view from over the funnel so we can see if it flows in well its metal, we can't see through it from the side. Please do and update with some harder powders, better angles, and larger diameter cases,. Take a look back at your Lyman powder funnel review. Thanks for the great content, I know I was kinda rough, but I would rather be honest.
Perhaps even a comparison between the two would be awesome. Looking at the design which seems incredibly similar I can't help but wonder if the inserts might be interchangeable which would be pretty incredible but probably isn't likely.
Recanting/abridging. That's unfortunate. Seems something that looks to be so promising would be encouraged by the company. An infomercial borders on useless.
I have a similar powder funnel made of plastic, but it also has a drop tube that makes it nice for bottle necked rifle cases. This powder funnel is made much better and will certainly do the job. But it most likely isn't very cheap. And cheap funnels work too. I will check on the price. If it isn't too bad, I would buy one.
i have the Lyman funnel kit and it works GREAT when you are at or very near case capacity. in those instances I will tilt the cartridge slightly and poor the powder so it 'swirls' a little in the funnel before dropping into the case. Helps the powder settle into the case better. I Couldn't do that with the old school plastic funnels.
Neat stuff! I would have liked to see 35+. Is it OK with 10mm, 45? Does powder leak with larger sizes? What about the combo adaptors. Is it as good with 270 as 284? Is it as good with 257 as 264? What about long kernel extruded powders? EVERYTHING feeds ball! 😜
Gavin, I'm a rabid fan of yours and I like the FAAPFK frugal challenge over the Area 419 unit. BUTT!!! I'll stay with Satern powder funnels. O-rings need lubed and with reloading that introduces the possibility of contamination over time. Higher cost comes with Satern but they have individual perfect fit per caliber funnels with no O-ring burn out. Not all of my children's inheritance will be in immediate liquid assets. Great vid, keep 'em coming.
One thing I don’t like (I don’t own but looking at the several options available) is it being black. And because the funnel is black I think it would be difficult to see if all the powder had passed through into the case. I wish, after dumping the powder, you had tapped the funnel on a white sheet of paper to see if any residual powder remained somewhere inside.
Lyman for me when I’m loading precision. Most of the time I use RCBS Uniflow with a case activated linkage kit either on a manual turret press or a progressive press.
I wonder if it would work for 9mm. I have flipped over many 9mm cases while charging. The inserts seem a bit too long for 9mm or possibly even for 45 ACP.
Yeah I ordered a drop tube when I ordered the powder funnel kit from Area 419 (multiple lengths available). Works well. I think everyone should offer multiple lengths of drop tubes.
I’ve been waiting months for these to be in stock somewhere. I figured they’ve been stuck on a cargo ship off the port of LA waiting to be unloaded like everything else from China.
I loved the funnel insert(s) that a viewer made for you in an earlier video. They seated deeply over the case and were very secure. I was hoping Frankford Arsenal was going to take a hint and spend another $0.25 worth of material and make a funnel set with attachments like those. Unfortunately it appears they're just offering a 'me too' Lyman funnel knock-off.
This channel used to be great. Now... it's just a string of info-mercials. I've used this funnel kit and it's actually pretty horrible. The worst thing about it? The bottom end of the funnel is too wide and doesn't fit between adjacent cartridges in a full loading tray.
This set looks nice, like the Lyman, but I really love the Satern barrels custom funnels. Yea, they are not a universal set like this, the Lyman or the AREA 419 set that is ridiculously expensive, but they are a really tight fit on the necks and dont wobble at all like these do. I only handload 2 precision calibers so to me its not a huge deal, I use my dillon 750 and the powder charger on it for most reloads. Satern barrels, check em out.
I am old and use equally old equipment, but I see no advantage to caliber specific powder funnels, I have a couple RCBS plastic and a Pacific aluminum one which are one size fits all that have always worked for me. I just think this is a waste of money that we all need to by hard to get and ever more expensive components.
Are these made in the USA? If not, throw that crap in the trash, I’m willing to pay area 419 prices just because I know they support American employees. Most things I’ve seen from this company come from China
@@DanielBoone337 good one - not my fault no US cell phone manufacturers are produced domestically, my options are limited. But as such, if I have to choose, I choose to support those who help and support American jobs and not global corporate giants where I can.
As both an avid shooter and a retired military weapon developer, I can tell you: Precision shooters should STAY AWAY from "aluminum powder" - do NOT try it to develop loads for ANY precision rifle. People in the warhead and solid rocket business know it as "aluminized energetic materials", and the white-hot molten aluminum blobs that congeal from the reaction will rip the snot out of anything solid it comes against! It will destroy your expensive barrel in just a few shots. ...What? Oh, the aluminum is the funnel itself and not the powder? Oh, OK, never mind...

Most people charge handguns from powder throw

Can you test the .35+ on something like .44 or .45? That would be useful information.
Neat stuff!
I would have liked to see 35+.

I have a set of MTM plastic ones. I use a dryer sheet on them to get rid of the static cling. They come with a drop tube also.
Have this funnel set as well and it’s fantastic.
Side by side cases in the loading block. Will the funnel still fit without hitting the adjacent case?
I use the Lyman funnel kit and it works awesome .
I like the Lyman kit. Works with the 30 degree shoulder in 6.5 PRC. case. Not all funnels will.

Great, another reloading toy I won’t be able to live without!

G’day Gavin, really enjoy your channel and content. From 🇦🇺
Any .338 Lapua Magnum videos?
Best funnel review ever!
Area 419 funnel kit
I have Area419 and like it. If you tap the pan on this funnel will it chip the anti static coating?
I've got the same question a lot of guys do, I reload 45-70 and I want to see if it fits that case.
is it hard to put few threads onto and stop using orings !
Lyman for me when I’m loading precision. Most of the time I use RCBS Uniflow with a case activated linkage kit either on a manual turret press or a progressive press.
Kind of looks like the Lyman kit which I own and I use all the time
I wonder if it would work for 9mm. I have flipped over many 9mm cases while charging.
The inserts seem a bit too long for 9mm or possibly even for 45 ACP.
I like what I see, however I need a drop tube that's probably 6" long.
I agree I've got to were I use a drop tube for about all the calibers I load
YES! Drop tube adaptor would be great!
Yeah I ordered a drop tube when I ordered the powder funnel kit from Area 419 (multiple lengths available). Works well. I think everyone should offer multiple lengths of drop tubes.
That's what she said.
Yeah, but how does it do with a magnum charge if stick powder ?
I wonder how this goes from 6.5 creed to 6.5 Prc with the case diameter difference that's the problem I am having with my old funnel
I’ve been waiting months for these to be in stock somewhere. I figured they’ve been stuck on a cargo ship off the port of LA waiting to be unloaded like everything else from China.
Does this work with 9mm?
For confirmation, the funnel is made of metal, right?
How does it work with the bigger cases like .357 / .44 mag ? Thanks!
Why not use a powder that struggles to flow like h4831?
or H110
Good videos Gavin
Where can you get one nobody has them even Frankford Arsenal for months.

Does it work with pistol calibers?
is it REALLY worth it, instead of the Standard plastic funnels from RCBS. I'm in doubt
I wish someone would come out with a set the hugs the shoulder not just the neck! That would be awesome
Where are these manufactured?
This channel used to be great. Now... it's just a string of info-mercials.
I've used this funnel kit and it's actually pretty horrible.
The worst thing about it? The bottom end of the funnel is too wide and doesn't fit between adjacent cartridges in a full loading tray.
So its a Lyman funnel kit that has a better funnel and tighter fitting inserts. Got it.
Area 419 for the win 🏆.
I need 17 cal and 20 cal. Don't see it listed in their kit.
Theirs doesn't do anything this doesn't.
I use the Lyman one
Lee Powder Funnel 22 to 45 Caliber $4.00, Frankford Arsenal Aluminum Powder Funnel Kit $50.00....Let me think about it?
Lee is definitely not anti static and don’t take long the .224 case necks push through it
I use Saturn Funnels.
Should put a little case lube on the O rings
& "possible" contaminate the propellent.
Looks great ,would be better if it had a 4”-6” drop tube .Without a drop tube attachment it is of little use to the benchrest community
Nice. Slick, Smooth and Sweetly Easy! May have to acquire a set!!

Oh, what engineering ! lets copy Lyman.

@@andrewmckee1156 Good for you Andrew. I also prefer the area 419. Made in America and you can buy the funnel and the inserts separately, no kit.
@@andrewmckee1156Buy Samsung phones. Made in South Korea.
ok from the point you mentioned O ring , thats no go for me i hate their dumn Orings they use specially on their Case trimmers !worst design ever
