@@thetimebombardier something I never mentioned in the review, but to put a run of 200 watches into production takes a major investment of cash so they have to not only make their money back but also make enough to fund the next project or run. It’s a tricky thing that’s for sure. I still think sourcing the assembly cheaper would have been better but I understand the choice to keep things in USA and respect that too
It's always nice to draw from your own history and I like the concept but and the inner track, but that's about it. I think the rest does look very cookie cutter. I think they could have perhaps done something on the more medical route to give it a distinct theme because this seems confused. Just my opinion. Nice work as always.
Thanks for checking it out Omar. Adam is going to release an automatic soon he said so that should be interesting. Cost for USA assembled time pieces is quite high I have learned, something that was quite surprising to me actually.
Hey Chris. Awesome in depth look at the watch. And the idea to discuss some comments is really cool too. A few different things to say. First of all, the design of this watch is not really very bauhaus imo. Sure you have the classic pre WW2 dress watch case shape and especially lugs and visually most of the watch is just dial. But if you compare this to the Max Bill for example, you see pretty quickly that the hands and the 'breathing ring' are not exactly designed with minimalism in mind. I think this only looks vaguely bauhaus because there are so many fashion watches out there that take inspiration from the minimalist geometry of the bauhaus movement and come up with this case shape and the big simple dials. Second, I think your point about the price is spot on. Didn't know that this is US assembled. That adds quite a bit of heft to the price tag as you also discovered. But the real question is would it have been better to not have the US assembled tag on this at a significantly lower price or with better specs at the current price. At the end of the day, this is the maker's decision and the potential buyers vote with their wallet to show if they agree or not. Third, as I said before I am not a fan of the look or idea behind this watch (the breathing thing, not the revival of a family company, that is very cool). But that's just subjective. Objectively speaking, there is one thing that stands out as not very good on this model. And that is the hour indices. I am not sure if the double batons at 12 are slightly skewed or if the finishing on them is not exactly even, but when the light reflects off of them, they don't look symmetrical. Also the flatness of the other indices is probably not optimal given their size. On a watch like this that is a big problem I think. Fourth, I still cannot shake the fact that this watch makes me think of the Zodiac Sea Wolf. Makes no sense I know, but the company logo is very similar and that white-lime 'breathing ring' sure reminds me of the beautiful white-lime Sea Wolf.
Hi Chris, thanks for the interesting review. Could I just add some context to my comment you quoted. When I first see a watch, I am looking for my own emotional reaction to it. If the reaction is positive (ooooohh) then I will look at the practical aspects, specs, finish, lume. If they hold up, then it goes on the "yes please" list. If my initial reaction to the watch is negative (ahh, no), then I try and work out what made me feel that way about it. No amount of high end spec, value is going to sway me. I just don't like it. So my comment was essentially my answer to myself, about why I didn't like the watch. I have a click/whirr reaction to backstories in a commercial context. Marketing guff, and like the best bs, it has the ring of truth to it. Every watch company does it but that doesn't make it any less bs, even if the watch appeals to me. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks ddddonk! And I appreciated the comment which is why I used it and I understand completely where you are coming from! My goal in doing that in this video and following unboxing/highlight vids is to include viewer reactions in the actual review, cause quite frankly, I have viewers that know a heck of a lot more about watches than I do. Thanks for the honest feedback it is always welcome here :)
Old model had a perpose, plus the design was "ligher" This one is a hipster thing in my eyes and the whole design is off IMO. High priced too. But hey, me being me is me, right? 😜 Thanks for the shout out Chris, don't mind at all, i stand by my words, always.(...you know right mate!) PS Check out Jason's (Just Watches) review on a similar watch (Mudita Moment), i was... me again, over that too! 😉 PS2 Why is it fine for americans to be paid more for their assembly, but for others not....? Do we take this for granted? Just wonder...
Thanks stavros, and re US assembly I have no idea why, the Farr and switt watch I reviewed was even more money but it did have a meca quartz movement in it over a more simple one like this but the watch was more expensive than this one, I think 100 dollars more, US assembled though which definitely drove the price up. Not sure why it’s that much more
Fairly interesting back story, but not for me at all. Too expensive & a bit too fashion watch & generic . As for the ghost position.....quartz movements are cheap enough, put the right one in. 😁 Sorry to be a negative nelly but for the price they're asking......🤔
I thought so to and still do think it’s priced high but for US assembled Swiss movements it isn’t as high as I originally thought….which was quite surprising to be honest
Great review but I don’t find anything compelling about this piece. Looks like a waiting room clock to me. I respect the history but it’s design is a bit plain. Nothing to make me look twice at it but that’s just my opinion. I wish them all the best.
Not sure how I missed this video. Glad I found it now.
Thanks pal!
Nice review dude but for the same price you can get a Helm which i think offers a lot more 👍😎 but wish the brand every success 😎😎
Thanks m8 I told the owner the price point was going to be a big hurdle for him for sure
@@MirrlyonTime yup it's tough for new brands with all the competition and supply issues; it's kept me from doing it so respect to those that do 👊😋👍

A simple watch, not for me personally. Also, quick release should be standard at this point. But great job on the review bud.

Yes definitely agree price is a little too high. Awesome review Chris and it's always nice to take time to breathe every time 😆
Thanks 62!

Way to pricey considering the movement.
