    There is a rumor that NDSU, SDSU, and Montana, and Montana State made a pitch for all 4 to move up to the MWC.

    • @brianknapp6215
      @brianknapp6215 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      The problem is all four of those schools are really isolated, and no Group Of Five Teams want to travel such distances just to play a game or two every Season. It would be like Hawai'i joining Conference USA.
      Besides- imagine the Travel Budget for those schools if they joined the MWC...

    The unfortunate part of why a lot of these programs haven’t moved up is unfortunately money. NDSU, SDSU and others haven’t made that jump purely because of the financial burden of scholarships and travel. In a perfect world, that wouldn’t matter but here we are.

      Ultimately Nova’s stadium will prevent them from ever moving. The Big East, just before the football part imploded, asked them to jump to FBS. The catch was that they would have to find a bigger venue for home games. There is zero room, on or near campus to expand the existing stadium or build a new one. If it weren’t for the stadium problem, Villanova could easily be “Wake Forest North” in the ACC.

      More of the bottom FBS/FCS conferences need to take the MAC's direction (pre UMASS) and just stay regional. Instead of shooting for a TV deal that won't really make up for the travel costs it would be better if the Southland just took all the Louisiana, Arkansas, and East Texas schools. Keep the P4 and I guess the Pac 12, American, and maybe Mountain West can aim to fight for best of the rest, and then everyone else just stay regional and encourage rivalries. Every so often a random school will have an insane year and be Western Michigan 2016, but that shouldn't be the goal below the top 5-6 conferences.

  • @killuhcam27

      @lakerskid2013 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Under the right circumstances for conference alignment that could turn into a Power 6 with the Big East being brought back. Teams like Louisville and Syracuse could go back to this new Big East like they were before and I think it would be very interesting with how that would play out. Villanova, UConn, Syracuse, and Louisville would all have a reunion in that scenario and it wouldn’t just be limited to basketball either. The other 4 on your list to be included to make the 8 team minimum requirement I believe would be Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Delaware, and Temple. If they decided to go with 10 teams for this Big East reiteration then of course Albany and Stony Brook could make the cut.

      The only problem is that Chatt will not commit. They would be a perfect Sun Belt (Group Of 5 SEC lol) Conference. There would be built in rivals with GA State, App State, GA Southern, etc.... And of course MTSU in C-USA and the occasional beatdown by their big brothers the Vols in Knoxville. But they would have to commit with resources and stadium and facilities upgrades. But it seems that they are not willing to commit to make that jump. If they did, they could be really good. They are smack dab in the middle of fertile recruiting grounds. Chattanooga is a cool little city to recruit to. If they committed and did it right, UTC could be a Group of 5 powerhouse. And I am a die hard Vols fan. But I root for the smaller Tennessee schools. Memphis should be a Power 4 school definitely.

      Youngstown State applied to the MAC the same year Marshall and NIU did in 1995. Marshall and NIU was accepted as new members after the 1996 season. The MAC rejected Youngstown State for two reasons 1) Their athletic budget, at the time, YSUs athletic budget was only 9.7 million across YSU entire athletics, MAC schools budgets were all like 23-28 million at the time and 2) Youngstown was not Title IX complaint, as a matter of fact YSU had never been complaint and wasn't actually compliant until 2002.

    • @tommykeeran6776
      @tommykeeran6776 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Youngstown State will never be in the MAC. It would be overkill to have 3 schools within an hour of each other in a dying area of the state. Kent State is literally the next county over, and Akron is a county over from that.

      @unclederrsports I just can't see them getting the support from Akron or Kent. Even if it's 75% to vote them, that's only one more no vote to keep them out. I think Kent would have an ally in BG, also could see UMASS saying no to anything that isn't closer to them. 2nd could work if it's an expansion to 16 with 2 East someone like Stony Brook, Albany, Rhode Island, etc. Just not sure if it would ever happen.

Decent program in a massive market (New York), and a supportive alumni base. Issue: Size. Since space can be at a premium in New York, getting them to upgrade their stadium to FBS standards might be difficult. Absolutely RULE FCS or be an also-ran in FBS? The answer is clear. The Big Sky needs to stay the way it is. It's perfect.

    You know those adults who just HAVE to win when they play kids, so there they are on Thanksgiving, out in the back yard, stiff-arming their nephews into the dirt? That's NDSU at the FCS level. Go play someone your own size.

    Mentioning Montana State and not Montana is wild. Montana is not only one of the most storied FCS programs of all time, but are the big brothers to Montana State WITH A NEAR 2 TO 1 ALL-TIME RECORD.
    Did you genuinely just Google FCS teams and make this list?

    Why would ndsu go to a conference where they would get their asses kicked on a weekly basis, and with the exception to Sacramento most of those cities have very small airports if any at all so convincing the power 4 conferences members to go to those schools might be a problem unless the towns are willing to expand their existing infrastructure or add new airports and lodging
