Tourney 4 for Slay Nation Tournament fishing is in the books.
Overall, the day was great, conditions were nice, but the bite was slow. I didn't have a whole lot of experience on this body of water, so I was really leaning on a big bite or two. Missed a few opportunities at catching them due to being to quick on the hookset or not allowing enough time for them to eat. However, learning from these mistakes is what makes better anglers!
Baits Used:
I caught a majority of the fish on a swim jig and as the bite got slower, I picked up a few on the Texas rig.
BAITS USED: Two main Rigs for the day
- 3/4 oz Googan swim Jig Paired with a 4'' 6th Sense Paddle Tail - Ghost Minnow Color, dark minnow, and another that was a bit darker than the Ghost minnow (Don't have package so not entirely sure on the name).
- Texas Rig (1/4oz Weigh with a Size 4 Offset Shank Hook) with 50lb braid
- I did end rigging a similar rig with 17lb fluoro but no luck.
- I was throwing many different plastics but the successful ones were the baby brush hog, Watermelon seed and a junebug / watermelon seed yum dinger.
