A Warm Summer Day l Kayak Bass Fishing
What's up folks!
We've got another tourney video on another lake, that I have no clue how to fish haha. This lake is amongst many popular lakes, however, is a bit off the beaten path. It's essentially a bowl with ledges near the bank and a bowl style center with scattered brush piles (So they say, I never found any).
t was a warm one! Main water temps ranged from 83-88 throughout the day. Late afternoon before we received weather water temps around 90 up shallow! My transducer does sit funny (sorda in direct sunlight) so it could be a bit off here and there but it’s a good indicator the waters still warm lol.
I did find small structure that seemed to be holding fish as well as a sunken boat, but had 0 luck getting bit on them. I mainly focused on docks as well as Deeper grass areas. Towards the end of the day I missed a few under a section of lily pads, but I believe they were gar as one had surfaced right after biting a brush hog in half..
Around the banks you can find grass and lily pads, some in 3-4ft some in 6ft plus. The weekend prior I did not film, however, caught numerous bass in the 6ft range on a senko. The fish I found seem to be holding near grass rather than anything else.. Unfortunately, this same pattern did not hold out this past Saturday.
All in all, it was a tough day, but it was good. It's always good to get out on the water and to enjoy nature. It's the simple things, right?
Thank you all so much for watching and I hope to see you again on the next one!

Great video. You have a new subscriber! What knot do you tie for that worm?
@@wheatstatedude8343 thank you for subscribing! The knot I tie.. I learned online from Jimmy Houston. I think it’s actually called the Jimmy Houston knot but some folks call them a three tag knot. They’re super strong and your line will pop before it ever does. Great for fishing structure! Similar to a palomar knot but stronger in my opinion.
@@TheFishChase Awesome! Thank you!

Fished that lake as a kid. Caught 27 bass about two hundred yards from the park. Stories a bunch. My mom used to love to fish with me.
@@KennyPhillips-pt3dwThe memories are what make fishing so great. That sounds like a day to remember. This lake has become one of my favorites in the area for sure! Thanks for watching!
@@TheFishChase that was 60 years ago. I'm 70 now use to get up before dawn . Ride my bike to the lake by myself and fish like a mo fo.. live in p cola . Love to fist the gulf

@@williamkost733 thank you!
Nice video congratulations! whats your setup? I like all that room!
@@YakbassOKC thanks for watching! And this is the Nucanoe Unlimited. Very stable little boat!
I was noticing the same thing, I like all the leg room up front..!
@@johngwilson730 it has tons of room!
Do you like that set up more than the Bass Raider?
@@richardkeller6940 I love the ol bass raiders.. very stable, made out of HDPE which is easy to repair.. they’re just good boats. The Nucanoe, however, is probably one of the more versatile and stable kayaks on the market. They come with tracks so no drilling for upgrades/mods. You can throw two seats for two folks(tandem kayak) and they’ve got plated areas for wiring, thru hole access, etc. the drainage in this things crazy. Over 400lbs on my kayak at a time and I’ll fall out before it ever flips. They even have a pedal drive attachment which flips up if you hit anything. All parts available through their website as well. I got the kayak bc it was easier for me to use and to also tournament fish with. So if you ask me now which if the two I’d purchase. The Nucanoe unlimited. Hard to beat.. if you fish with another individuals, the pelican bass raider. Both can hold up to 600lbs! The pelican just manages that weight a bit better.
What kind of kayak do you use and what are all the things you’ve added on to it?
@@braxfvn I’m running the Nucanoe unlimited right now! I’ve done quite a bit to it so I’ll make a walk through here soon. I’m running a 55lb thrust trolling motor in the front. Garmin 7SV, yak attack black pack, battery box behind it. And a dolly system made from a transom mount. Stable little boat! Drainage system and stability sold me on this kayak!
Nice fish!
Thank ya sir!
Hey Chase How much did your anchor weigh when you had your Raider Thanks

Thanks

Good video man. Those were some nice size fish man. I know it was tough but you stayed in there . Good job man. I also like how you was fishing barefooted 👣 man. I have to kayak 🛶 barefooted 👣 too because I have big very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 sz15 6E wide ( which is very very extremely wide feet 🦶 ) with very very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. It's not easy having a foot this extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide. My foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots when I was young because of how evenly straight across my toes are. I wish my toes were at a 45° Degrees angle like your toes are so that I could wear close toes footwear but i have to wear open toes footwear because of how fat & chubby & Evenly straight across my toes are. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.
@@mackjenkins7721 Thanks for watching and for the kind words! As for fishing barefoot, I’ve been barefoot since I can remember haha. That’s just how we were as kids! I wear crocs sometimes, flip flops usually come right off as soon as I step in The kayak tho 😂! Got to stay comfortable!
@TheFishChase Brothers I am the same way too. I was born with very very extremely wide feet 🦶 with my toes Spread out wide. I was raised up being barefooted 👣 or wearing flip-flops 🩴 all my life. I hated wearing shoes & socks because they crush & hurt my 4 / 5 toes because of how my toes were Evenly straight across & my feet 🦶 being very very wide . I can only wear flip flops 🩴 now & I can barely & I mean barely put them on because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴straps. I like crocs but I can't wear them because of the toes box being close up. I have 6 boys & they all have crocs & they love wearing them in the winter time because they all have very wide feet 🦶 too. My wife said that it's Is my fault for making all 6 boys with very wide feet 🦶. All 6 of my boys love wearing flip flops 🩴 the most because it's very comfortable for them. We are a huge huge huge flip-flops 🩴& barefooted 👣 fan family. We are Either barefooted or wearing flip-flops 🩴. I am barefooted 👣 more because I have to drive my car 🚗 barefooted 👣 because my foot Touches both gas & brakes pedal at the same time because of how extremely wide my feet 🦶 are. I have to look down at the pedal to see where to put my foot at so that I don't have a rear end collection. I think I have to go through because of how extremely wide my feet 🦶 are for being 6 1/2 inches wide. I with you on being comfortable on the kayak 🛶 barefooted 👣 man. Right on brother. We was born barefooted 👣 let stay barefooted 👣. You have a good weekend brother & it awesome how you like being barefooted 👣 .

Thanks man! Definitely a rough day, but they can’t always be good! Thanks again for watching!
The anxiety I get when you don’t holding the fish while taking a picture is through the roof 😂 nice win! 👍🏻
Thank you sir! They usually do pretty good at heading straight into the net. If they’re kicking a lot I’ll hold them down! I need to tether my phone so I can worry less about dropping it and more about the fish🤣
Alright alright alright, wins a win bubba man keep it up
Thank ya!
Great fish man! Awesome day! We have the same pattern! Great minds they say!

Nice video man, just found this channel and subscribed! I live in central Florida and have gotten back into fishing and hunting as of last year. Have to shore fish as I dont have a boat. Might get one like the one you have, due to no place to store a boat right now. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Good luck brother!
Man I just saw this comment, sorry for the late reply! Thanks for subscribing! There are a lot of great places to bank fish around here but it is nice to get away from it every now and again. Great deals on these style boats on market place! Also, got a special video dropping this weekend, stay tuned!
My Man! Great video! Editing skills are getting so much better! Great job out there!
Thanks man, means a lot! You almost had me though, congrats on 3rd! I’ll be on the lookout for a video 😂
Congratulations, great start to the new year what are the advantages you have in a job boat than using a kayak? Take care and God bless you.
Thank you! As for the advantages.. there are a few. These little pontoon style boats are super stable, easy to repair (HDPE can be easily plastic welded if ruptured, the endless amount of mods you can add. Fishes two 250 lb men just fine! Great to hunt and fish from… rated for a 2.5hp motor. I think these are perfect for those that just want to get out and fish and or a starter boat to learn from. With that being said, I’ve recently purchased a kayak. Some may call it a canoe, but it’s the Nucanoe unlimited.. although it’s a beast of a kayak, loaded down it’s still easier to move around and lighter than the pelican. Truly the only reason I moved to a kayak was for the efficiency, easier for just myself to move around, and more opportunity for tournament fishing here in Florida. If you fish solo, I’d say you cant really go wrong with either one.. just know the pelican is 145 lbs dry plus whatever you add to it. Kayaks for the most part can range from 60-100( with the seat). Again if you’re solo like myself, unless you get a trailer, it can be just as time consuming to unload / load a pelican vs a kayak. It’s all personal preference tho! Tight lines!
@@TheFishChase thank you for your information sir you have a blessed week and take care, someday I’ll see you out in the water 💦!!!
@@granvillej3316 You welcome and Thanks for watching! You have a blessed day as well sir! Maybe we’ll run into each other one day haha!

Good job out there Chase! I fished that spot 2 days before the tournament without a bite! Haha
Haha I heard it was tough leading up to it! Maybe this weekend won’t be so bad! Thanks for watching man!
Hey Chase What Jon boat are you going to get ? I like my bass raider but considering getting a bass tracker bass boat myself.
Not sure just yet! Looking into something around the 14-16ft mark
Let’s go! Ya I like the bass raider but could use something a little bigger myself
I used to have the 1542 tracker Jon boat and found still a little tippy. I want at least 48 inches wide for some better stability.
@@richardkeller6940 yeah the wider the better for sure. I’d like an 18ft tracker or g3 if we could find the room haha
Right
Walk through? 🤷🏾
Hey Richard, unfortunately I had a deal offered and ended up selling the pelican. I will be modifying another Jon boat for you guys soon! I do apologise!
Oh that’s cool look forward to your Jon boat
Hell Yeah
Hey buddy, love your tournament videos on your pelican bass raider. I also have one too. What did you use for your anchor in the front of the boat?
Thanks you! & It’s a scotty mount anchor system! You can find them at dicks sporting goods, Amazon, and I believe you can even find them at bass pro.
Keep at it brotha! You gon get a win soon!
Thanks brotha!
Awesome! I love it
I’m glad you liked it!
5 fish limit?
Yessir 5 fish limit, longest 5 win!
What kind of tournaments do u fish in the Raider? Will they let u in kayak tourneys?
Haven’t tried to enter a kayak tournament with it yet but I plan on getting a kayak for just that. As for the tourneys I fish, they’re with slay nation! They have a small vessel series which is like a John boat series. Folks fish in kayaks, some in bass raiders, some in John boats!
@@TheFishChase is that an online tourney, or you gotta be there in person?
@@tonyb-50 you have to register first but yes it’s all in person! You can check slay nation out through their Facebook page!
I live in Lakeland. If you want big bass out of saddle creek, you need to go across the street to the two ponds that they own that hardly anybody fishes. The ponds are across 92 from Phillips bait and tackle.
I heard about them from another local, will definitely have to try those out! Thanks!
is that fishable on foot? i wanna bring my kayak out but doesn't look like thats possible there
@TITVNBEATS It's possible. You just pull off to the side of the road and launch in. The first pond to the right already had an opening to launch. I always had jon boat that I put in. Now, the second pond to the left is a little harder to get into because it's overgrown but can be done with paddles.
No skunk that's good loved the content maybe try a swimbaits
You’re right about that! I usually have a swim jig tied on but that’s something I need to throw more of for sure! Thanks for watching!
Do you have a gas motor, or you only use that 1 trolling motor? What size trolling motor and battery?
Only one trolling motor! I run a 55lb thrust minn kota and Group 24 DC marine battery (100ah). I’ll bring two batteries on longer trips.
@@TheFishChase cool- I got the same setup
@@tonyb-50 hard to beat! I’m not going with a motor on this one, however, I see guys do it all the time and they work fine, 2.5-4 hp motors. I’ll be dropping an overview on this one as a few folks have requested one! Video will drop soon!

No that's a messy
Nice one!!
Thanks man, got a few decent ones to bite the jig this past weekend!
Interesting how you have trolling motor on the back. I have mine on front thinking it would be easier to control. Also wondering if you are still planning on doing a walkthrough? Thanks man
I run the trolling motor on the back so it’s not in the way! If it’s windy, having in the front could definitely make it easier! As for the walk through, I’ll be uploading one this month! I’ve got one more upload before the walk through!
I’ll go more in depth on the setup in the walk through, let me know if you have anymore questions!

Nice fish!!
Thanks man! Coulda used a few more of those 😂
Dude that was a giant!
She was 😅😅
Nice
Thanks!
Great fish!!
I appreciate it!
If I ever get a bite, I’m super bad at fishi NF
Fishing can be hard! Best advice I’ve ever been given is if I’m moving it slow and not getting bites, move it slower! Try just a standard Texas rig with a 1/4 oz or 3/16 oz bullet weight, with a size 4 offset shank hook(worm hook). Most of the time you can catch all sizes with that setup. Especially those bass that pick it up and run. The offset hook has a better chance at hooking them even if you miss the hook set. (Exactly what I caught the fish in the video on!) I hope this helps!
Thanks!@@TheFishChase
