Shayna McDaniel Not mine! Mine is a Stendhal palette from the old World Of Beauty prescription box, circa 1980. I don’t use it anymore, but it has sentimental value because it was my very first “fancy” palette.

My first Naked palette was the Naked Heat (the color story got me). I avoided the original Naked palette bc everyone and there mother was lauding it 😆
I had to laugh when you were talking about 2005 ... my first shadows are from 1962!!!! Max factor, Helena Rubinstein, Elizabeth Arden. I still have some. Once a makeup lover always a makeup lover. Love your videos.

I have an old rouge from my grandmother from the 1920s along with some of her gloves/perfume bottles/accessories & some old Avon & Sarah Coventry(jewelry) stuff from my mom from the early 60s.

I remember a brand called Aziza back in the 80's and 90's. I'm sure as hell my first fully owned eyeshadow palette came from them. Bless my late aunties for my first makeup, they smuggled a lot of stuff from US to our country everytime they went for vacation

Hands down you have the best “oldest pallet”. So glad you did this. The first pallet I ever bought was the needs pallet. I hadn’t worn eye shadow for about 30 years so when I decided I wanted to get back into makeup it was my first choice because it was a face pallet. I had just started watching TH-cam videos on makeup and you were just launching your pallets. You were so excited and I knew I had to have it.
OMG that old too faced palette with the music and ballerina- that was the first high end makeup palette I ever got! Talk about a walk down memory lane lol wow! I would have been a junior in high school.
Loved this video and totally agree about the Naked palette. I've watched it revolutionize the makeup industry from the start. They should do a 20th Anniversary limited edition :D

I forgot that drugstore palettes used to be unheard of. The makeup industry has transformed over the last ten years!

It really has! I love my high-end palettes (i dod this tag 🤗) but I also make a lot of affordable beauty videos and it’s amazing what’s available now! 😃🙌🏻💖
There used to be drugstore palettes...they were just trash except for maybe wet nd wild. Wet nd wild has always had a bomb eyeshadow formula
I still don’t trust drugstore eyeshadow palettes even though I know we’ve come a long way since then. I trust colourpop, and bhcosmetics but not the giants like Maybelline or covergirl
The drugstore brands are great. Huge changes from how they used to be. Trust me. I was in Sephora yesterday and was looking at palletes. Ended up not buying any. Heading to Walmart today to pick up some of the ones like she just showed. No fallout or anything. Trust me, they've changed up their game in every way.

Mine, too! Needs and Wants stay. Front and center of my vanity no matter what else circulates through. Right now it is hanging with the Charlotte Darling and the KVD Lolita that I got on super sale!
Mine too! I received it for Christmas and it’s my go to pallet ever since. I have even recreated her looks from her videos with it.

Emily, YOU marked the start of me getting into makeup in a serious way. I'd never set foot in an Ulta until I started watching your channel about 6 or 7 years ago. I'd watch you read the phone book, that's how much I relate to you and enjoy you and your little family. Got both Revolution palettes, ordered your Colourpop bundle, and the little card that came with it hangs on my vanity. I'm all in on anything you're doing!

The Lorac unzipped palette is one of my favorites in my collection. I feel like not enough people talk about that one. The mattes are all so buttery and easy to work with and they compliment the shimmers so well.
I have to say you knocked this tag out of the park, Emily! I’ve seen most of them, but I think you’ve given the most thought to the Q’s. That Too Faced! You have the oldest palette mentioned by far. Save it for Belle and Bitty! Love the added Qs. Best dupe palette is great. Most have mentioned elf bites as smallest, so different interpretations. Great job!!!

Out of all of the “palette tag” videos I’ve watched so far, yours is definitely my favorite! Also... When you showed the shades in Lorax unzipped palette, it reminded me so much of those roses shades in the Pat McGrath Divine Rose I palette. I’ve never tried either of them but they looked similar to me 💁🏻♀️

Lorac Pro 1 was my first high end palette. I remember asking my parents for it when I was 15. Nine years later, it's my go to palette for travel and every day eye looks. Good products last through all hypes.

N- butterfly I got the Profusion Mirage at a TJ Maxx-like store called Burkes outlet for $5.99!! 😍 So you may find them at those types of stores but yeah I have seen them at some Walmarts. The website is for sure gonna be the most direct route! 💖
I had one of those Smashbox "book" all in one palettes several years ago( over 10 now I think). It was slightly different but had *everything* in it. Several eyeshadows, creme eyeliners, blushes, bronzers, highlighters & finishing powder. It was my perfect travel palette since all I needed to bring was foundation, mascara, eyelash curler & brushes. My first high end eyeshadow was Smashbox, I started with the round trios in a neutral color which was all I really needed back then. Hit pan on those but they were discontinued so I bought a larger multipan Smashbox palette of all browns. It wasn't very good. That started my search & trial/error with Sephora brand eyeshadow palettes & getting recommendations off of YT. I don't presently own anything older than 5 years old because I've always purged my old makeup & until recently only purchased what needed replacing. I used to use things up, alas no longer 😥 unless it's mascara, foundation or concealer which I only restock when I run low/out & don't really experiment with or change.
SUCH A GREAT VIDEO.......so much to say....you look STUNNING, Lorca Unzipped 😍 I feel that palette also started the boom for rose gold eye shadows....Viseart palettes, The Balm....so much to love in this video. This video is by far the best I've seen in this category. But that's what you get from the best there is !!!! Thank you Emily, you are amazing and your knowledge of makeup history is so informative. My Lorac pallet is a whole lot of pan! I REALLY used that one! Even found a trio at Nordstrom Rack that included 2 of my favs and used every bit of that one too! It's a winner!
I finally decluttered my OG LORAC Pro. I would love for you to try more indie brands. Menagerie, Give Me Glow, Kaleidos, Terra Moons, etc.

This was so much fun to see. I become a little emotional when thinking of points of my life where certain makeup products shined (prom, first wedding, graduations, birthdays, etc.). I distinctly remember buying my middle sister one of the $20 Too Faced travel palettes (8 shadows with a small slide-out compartment with blush and lip color). Thank you for this journey, Emily!

You know why i like your videos so much? Cause you're so wonderfully down to earth and grounded, even when you present something that got sent to you, it never ever feels like you're trying to peddle something to us, like with so many other beautubers.
Further you actually talk from long years of experience with both high and low end products, frequently referring back to a whole range of different products whenever you talk about a product, which makes all your videos so informative and useful. With many other youtubers there seems to be a fixed range of 5 brands they talk about A LOT (their brand deals) and 2-3 brands they hate (refused brand deals?) and it just ends up feeling both fake and boring. With you I never ever got that vibe.
And secondly, all your videos ooze the fact that makeup is just a lot of fun to you. I've been watching so long, I never got the sense of you just going through the motions cause it's 'your job' when you don't really feel like it.
You make it so easy to stick around, cause you just come across as so down to earth, uninterested in any drama, real, positive and relatable. And all your videos are just fun, informative, broad minded and - most importantly - actually useful.
Your Needs and Wants are definitely in my favs......would love to see ya do more palettes!!!!

The Needs and Wants palettes are great memories for me too! The last two days I've tried to actually take the time to do my makeup, and I've used these two palettes two days in a row. They first came at a time for me when I was just starting to get confident doing eyeshadow, and now I turn to them as a comfort for a time when I don't have anywhere to be, so I'm truly just enjoying the makeup for myself.

You definitely have selected the most unique/diverse palettes of all the videos I’ve seen. Your length of time you've created videos on TH-cam certainly makes that possible. I agree that the original UD Naked palette started it all. it was the very first higher end palette I purchased (Coastal Scents was probably the most inexpensive.) My most used of all time would be the Lorac Pro I as well. It was the first palette I ever hit pan on. Again, I loved your take on this tag and I'm so glad you added the extra categories!!
