  • With two growing children, Charlene and Granville are desperate to sell their two-bedroom Victorian terrace in Forest Gate, East London, and upgrade to a larger home…But after eight months, no offers, and a £50,000 price cut, they’re running out of steam. While the property has loads of potential, its crammed interiors, tired décor, drab main bedroom, and scuffed walls are proving a major turnoff. And, with no ‘for sale’ sign out front, and their agent on the other side of town, the listing is completely off the radar.
Enter property experts John Rennie and Sofie Allsopp. They vow to revive the home and the undercover sales approach. And while John finds a second local agent and convinces the couple to post a sign out front, Sofie revamps the bedrooms and the living room with a contemporary design plan and a fresh coat of paint. Will their approach pay off with a sale?

✨💖✨Wonderful young family. They really had their priorities in order. Their reason for moving was so the little ones each had a room, and they wanted room for family to come for an extended visit. They wanted to get the house sold and were ready to do what needed to get done, but the real telling point was when Mom and Dad walked into the children’s room, holding hands. You could see the delight on their faces knowing the children were going to love it. I have no doubt Mom will be taking some of those decorating ideas to their new home. I wish them all the best. I never really thought about the importance of a local estate agent. I’ve learned so much watching Sophie bounce from country to country, taking on unsellable.
**Anybody notice that beautiful front door. with the curved window panes? Gorgeous.

Weather Witch, I agree that the "absolute transformation" in this episode was an amazing one and is now one of my favorites. The ONLY thing that made me cringe a little was the stenciling in the children's room. Not because it was there, but because I felt she went a bit overboard with it.

This is a good transformation for people who want to stay, but not for people trying to sell... Way too personalized with the stenciling, the peach is horrid, and the first thing a lot of people will think of is all the priming and painting they have to do

Watching the agents killed me!!!! They walked in the house and had no idea what to expect and the one man said.. OBVIOUSLY this is the 2nd bedroom.. its bright and the windows to the rear. Bahaha cracks me up they say what they are seeing as if the buyers are blind. 😄

Another get rid of your stuff episode. Honestly, they should make that a prerequisite to getting on the show. Just have a questionnaire - first question "Have your packed up all over your CRAP? Next question "Have you thoroughly cleaned your house?" That would reduce the applicants by 2/3.

I suppose this is the one and only requirement to be picked as a contestant. Sophie can't fix a bad neighbourhood or really bad maintenance (to a point where you have to replace support beams and whatnot) with the limited budget she has. But she CAN change paint colour and throw pillows. Plus, it makes for a fun show, which inspires people to become homemakers themselves 😊

I'm amazed that in all of these episodes, the agents aren't involved. I've lived in Georgia and Florida and have always had agents that are very on-hands, involved, doing all the leg work, as far as marketing, showing, selling. They would never expect me to show it on my own.

I think they made a mistake with stenciling the kids walls. Although it's cute, the first thing someone who doesn't have kids is going to think "I don't just have to paint this, but due to the vivid colors I'll have to prime this as well to make it an office/guest room."...Same thing if they have a little boy who likes super heros and doesn't want flowers and butterflies all over the walls. The concept was pretty, but a mistake for selling.

I bought an apartment with a low dark brown wooden ceiling everywhere. Psychadelic wallpaper on the ceiling of one of the bathrooms and other weird stuff. The apartment was completely empty and not cleaned. We bought it, I janked the ceiling out, we had a light one put in. New bathrooms and kitchen. Now in that neighborhood it's worth a lot more. I always want a floor plan with accurate measurements.
I don't need pretty colours on the wall that I will change anyway. And furniture looking lovely when it's not mine.
When you both work it's really hard to get rid of stuff. Some people were raised not to throw stuff away if it's not broken. They seem lovely people that care about their family.

Mirrors add dimensions to a space & make it look bigger & they should have placed one over the fireplace.
Adding some flowers in window planters out front would have added some color & curb appeal to the very drab exterior.
To make the kids room look bigger they should have put in a bunk bed set. The way it sits now looks & is Very cramped.
As usual the show only half does their make overs & needs a better designer for inside & out

    • @JamieM470
      @JamieM470 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I was thinking paint the front door! There is a home on the street with a red door, that makes it really stand out. If they painted this one blue, or gray, or something, it would stand out also. But I like your idea of simply putting some flowers out front. Just doing that would make it stand out as well. They left it with zero curb appeal.

    • @mgb5170

I think bunk beds save floor space once you live there, however spatial perception is the opposite - it blocks/halves the room visually. It's one of those wonders.... I think always removing a bunk bed is a better if you are selling the space for this reason.

I'm 14 minutes in and can't help but feel underwhelmed by the real estate agent. Wow. I realize everyone doesn't have the personality cut out for a job like that, but yikes. He seemed very depressing.
Edit: yeah, he's in the wrong line of work. On a positive note, the buyer in the fabulous green coat looks very put together and lovely. I'd buy just about anything from her. She was more dominant than the agent.
While the house does look MUCH better and there are some very nice changes (wallpaper, paint, furniture), I was surprised with the kids' room. I would have gotten bunk beds or put the beds next to each other (several feet apart) on the large wall with the wardrobe on that small wall next to the window. The desk could have stayed where it was. It would have looked much roomier that way.
It's always fun to see the changes though. I would love that job.

by European standards it's not tiny. And there are two beds inside, you wouldn't be able to fit two in there if it was that small.

People do not want to talk about race. They seemed to choose an agent unfamiliar with the area because of his race. BAD IDEA! No mater what your race is it is important to keep buyers from having a mental image of whose nest they are moving into. They want to move and create their own nest. If you want to sell quickly, move out. Make the home spotlessly clean and neutral. Never taste specific. Bold decorating statements turn off more buyers than they attract. A toilet in the bedroom! Buyers will never forget that. Move out!
