The Unselllables - From Season 1 Episode 6 "Susan and Rob": The couple is baffled and frustrated… but not Sofie. She says the dated décor, bold color scheme, and cluttered interiors are to blame. What this house needs, she says, is to be dragged about twenty years into the present.
In order to transform the home from dated to sophisticated, Sofie comes up with a plan to declutter the space, neutralize the walls, and restyle the kitchen. Desperate to move on with their lives, Bob and Susan get on board from the start… And while Anthony and the team work their magic on the interiors, the couple learns the basics of real estate from Sofie. The results are dramatic… But will they be enough to seal the deal?
The Unsellables - After tracking down the most unsightly and ‘unsellable’ listings on the market, The Unsellables team attempts to transform real estate lemons into lemonade. Can the fearless crew get these desperate homeowners to get smart, let go of the past, and prepare for a sale?

This is a good episode that shows why the series is still relevant after 15 years. Sophie explains why the changes are needed, and the refresh is straightforward and inexpensive, unlike the HGTV show that does loads of construction, brings in hotel lobby-style furnishings and over-stages.

So glad you got rid of the red bathroom. Too bold and dark for the space. Enjoy seeing the houses you fix for sale. Good job.

They did a really nice job. No green walls for once lol. The only thing I wish they would have done is re-home that poor bird in the tiny cage swinging from the kitchen ceiling.

I don't believe for a minute she is painting with white paint while wearing a black dress. 🤣

The awkward wall between the two sitting rooms baffles me..Why not tear it down to create a more elegant and spacious living room/dining room? Especially with the initial difference in style it was mind boggling.

That's a big cost and $5K will not cover it if it's structural, there's electrical and/or. Plumbing. Also requires an engineer to determine which way the current joist is running, Wood beam and one or more.

Nice redo. Had no idea there was so much clutter, not immediately apparent.

I think the whole house is nice and even though painting can be tedious, I wouldn't have been deterred by that blue color. I even like the color, just not on the walls.

Because Boomers fucked over their generation. And their oldest at the time was only 22. Clearly you are living in a different reality.

Bricks are strong to begin with, but once they’re painted, you’ve lessened the quality of your structure and added an extra layer of unnecessary upkeep and maintenance.
Painting over brick is essentially a death sentence for brick because you’re stripping it of its natural ability to breathe and release any moisture that becomes trapped. Because of this, any moisture trapped inside the wall will begin to erode the brick, wearing it down over time. Brick, in its original state, is a porous element designed to absorb moisture while also being exceptionally good at releasing or drying out any moisture. This “breathability” is accomplished through the cracks and small openings within the brick. Once brick is painted, it loses its ability to release moisture and dry out because all those tiny cracks and openings have been painted over and sealed up. In colder climates, the level of deterioration is much higher due to the trapped moisture under the painted brick.

    • @beegood1215

It isn't a no no, but on the longest wall is usually better. Some designers like the bed to face the door.

@@beegood1215 For me it's a definite NO! I like to take full advantage of the light coming in and be able to look out the window. I'm not into Feng Shui, but I think one of their "rules" is to never have the bed against a wall with windows.

I am *not* a fan of painting brick but in this case I would have painted the fireplace upon moving in. It's a terrible mismatch of colors and looked like the modern thin slices of brick that it is. The outside of the rental complex I live in kept the brick slices to one color and it looks wonderful.
