I think an important point for new players is: you need Cold Res in act 1, Lightning Res in act 2, and fire res for early act 3.

I'd like to share a bit of feedback about this video as someone who doesn't have a single minute in the game yet. I'm waiting for Necropolis to be my first league and trying to learn what I can before jumping in.
I've also watched all PoE Uni vids from 3.23 prior to this.
With that background, most of this video flew over my head. I could follow it until around the halfway point. After that, there were SO MANY new terms that are used in a sentence without being explained previously that I just felt overwhelmed.
Could you perhaps update the description with some prerequisites to watch or read before this video can make complete sense? Or at least say "you need to have played up to this point".
Thanks as always for the time and effort you put into these.
Examples of stuff I had no idea what they meant: "+2 bow gems", "+2 minions", "if the annulment hits", "identify them from delve", "reforged caster". I'll have to look up all this in the wiki to wrap my head around it.
@@zgatt I'll be a bit over-explainy and touch the first couple points in this for the sake of not knowing where you're at knowledge wise, but I hope it helps!
Firstly you'll need to be aware that skill gems have their own levels and experience (in addition to quality). As you level them up the more powerful they become and also the more mana they need to use. The scaling of each level can be dependent on each individual gem in question. +level to gems allows you to bypass the maximum level of 20 to reach higher modifiers and more scaling possibilities.
Annulment orbs allow you to remove a random modifier (refer to his currency video). 'Hitting' is just slang for it doing the thing you're hoping for, but RNG means this may not always 'hit'.
For the others I'd recommend looking into what Delve and Harvest mechanics pertain. It'll be more relevant in the mid-late game than early, though it can be useful to use fossils (Delve) and reforge (Harvest) to get specific affixes (prefixes/suffixes) that you may want to increase your power.
@@OwlishGeorge thank you so much for clarifying that. I found Palsteron's 6 month old guide that explains some of this in an even more noob friendly way, and I'm finding that watching that before looking into Ziz's guides is helping me quite a bit.
I'll look into Harvest and Delve later as well.

could you please help me on this problem, you have the prim weapons and then the second set you can switch 2. But on POEbuild its inactive any advice? IX key changes the set the 2nd set.

Sometime I watch YT on Act10 speedrun. Maybe Ziz can do a runs on how to farm/craft certain gear. My problem is not getting currency for crafting. I can clear T16 map but only have 1 divine orb and annulment orb.
I'd say that's a atlas/strategy issue? Alch and go isn't the most profitable thing, which is why juicing essences on white maps the first days was so broken and why it got nerfed, I'd say that you need a clearer idea of what content you wanna do that actually suits your character

harvest has a reforge caster option, and on rings it can only hit cast speed

I have a question about atlas. Would you go 20 passives notable early in SSF or do you think scarab loss would be to big?
So you have to do the math on this cause I have not, is it worth spending all the nodes bum rushing to the 20 extra points keystone to get the 20 instant points? Your in ssf so your missing out on say betrayal and either essence/expedition? Can your build survive without those minor upgrades? Cause your rushing for a keystone is on top, your spending points getting there which can take u say 15 to 20 maps. Is your build going to function ok in those 15 or 20 maps?
@@aayushs8128 im not so sure about map sustain with wandering gone. Gonna need betrayal and essences for sure for my build. Going for the keystone early and opting out of it on second tree probably gonna be the play.
@@Hejti_ I think map sustain while be fine tbh, if anything you have a full scarab atlas tree saved up and keep switching between scarabs you need. The reason I say this is because you can farm a ton of carto scarabs and just sustain maps super easy. Plus your playing ssf my friend, you have no worries about rushing early to make high currency so you can get ahead and all that trade crap. You can simply farm everything properly and enjoy the game. Trust me your going to have a blast.
@@aayushs8128 i never used Wandering and was kinda ok but this league im planning to play a lot more at the start and try to get faster to endgame then usual so im considering Tuna atlas tree with a lot of Kirac and connected map nodes
@@Hejti_ I never used wandering path for early atlas prog and was able to do all non unique maps within 2 days of league start without buying a single map from trade. Yes I would buy maps from kirac till it costed 5 to 7 chaos.

I have almost 3000 hours in this game, and I have never even heard of a tailoring orb. Always something new to learn from these!
All this video tells me is I really need a how to craft 101 baby steps version.
try Subtractem's crafting vid if you want a complete step-by-step breakdown of crafting in general, or try Lolcohol if you want instructions on how to craft specific items. Lolcohol's crafts tend to be higher-end, late-game crafts, but the beginning steps he shows are still basically universally helpful.
Welp, time to earn my CE credits from professor Zizaran
I’ve played about 60 hours of PoE so I’m still super new. Anyone here have recommendations for good creators for intro/soft core guides that aren’t Ziz? I’ve watched exclusively Ziz since I started, but I stopped playing for like a year and with the new season coming out, I’d like to know some other good content creators for additional information sources. I’d prefer video content, but text with visuals from websites is also fine.
I know I can go to forums and the wiki, but I like supporting good content creators and video content has always been more appealing to me than text guides. I like to see the builds and play style before I devote time to a build, for example.

tbh i recommended Maxroll website for guides for new players and it seems working good for new players with all the visuals and graphs they have.
If you're not playing Solo Self Found [SSF] (which in POE doesn't compensate you in any way - it is essentially a self-afflicted 99% power nerf), then the biggest tip I could give a new player is to use the trade part of the POE website. Learn how to search for what you want and how to order the results. Also use the live search if you are low on currency to only see items that are cheap that fit your needs as they are put up (for more expensive items these will get sniped easily so you have to be fast, but for items that are a dozen chaos orbs or something and you only have like 10 chaos orbs it can help).
Honestly, POE is a trade simulator first and foremost. Its how you will make currency and its how you will get items. Without trade you are stuck trying to make stuff for yourself with low amounts of currency that unless you get really lucky will almost never work out. Even crafting is 99% reliant on trade to function.
After figuring out how to trade for what you want to get started with the bits and pieces of currency you picked up as you levelled, now spend 100s of hours figuring out what sells, how to get it by farming, and then use that currency to trade for the stuff you want. If you really make it rich, then you might be able to touch crafting.
Not for you? Try Last Epoch; the SSF experience is far far stronger. Yeah, you'll still be better off by trading - you just can't beat having access to hundreds of thousands of player's drops that they don't want. However, you can pick the SSF mode (known as Circle of Fortune in Last Epoch) and it will actually help you out and allow you to target items yourself. The crafting experience is there from the get go and very approachable. The loot filter is also far stronger, since you don't have to pick everything up to identify it.
Hoping POE 2 learns from LE to make the new player experience a lot greater. POE has a far greater end game than LE, for now. But you'll have to buy your way to victory.
@@RJWhitmore I played my first couple of builds with zero trade. Not because I wanted to do SSF, but because I just didn’t know how trade worked lol. Thanks for the advice. I might try LE at some point soon, but I want to hop back on PoE for the Necropolis and see what’s up before I spend any more money on new games.
I do need to learn how crafting works though. I realize I just said I need to understand how quantum physics works, but I feel like I’m missing out on a decent chunk of the game without understanding like 50%-90% of crafting.
Also, understanding how and why stats are good or bad, and what exactly the stats and modifiers do will make my math brain happy and also very sad lol.

@@ThePainqT after the heists farm I got a few fulcrum drops among other items and then did a MF chieftain with corpse explosion, from what I see in this new league that build hasn't been nerfed.
As a new player I still have no idea how any of this works :(
New things keep getting introduced and not explained
Try following a build guide. Try to understand how things work for this one build, how to get the gear you need, why you need certain uniques and how to scale your damage and survivability. It is an important first step. If you for instance understand how fire dot multi works, you will have a better understanding when trying a poison build next time.
Watch streamers how they handle problems during a league start. There are a couple of videos uploaded a few of days ago where they do practice runs in SSF. Ziz has some of these too. Usually they are 5+ hours long. Frankly it teaches you more than this video. Most streamers do not understand why and where new players struggle. They will show you how to craft a certain item, burning through their divines in the process while you may have a whopping 3 divines you farmed last week. Pohx is an exception to that rule, that’s why he is followed by many new players. He even has a wiki about the one and only skill he plays during a league.
my friend feels the same he started in Affliction league and this league they changed the end game and now hes back to 0 knowledge about endgame. but the basics campaign and early mapping still the same.
i would say if you are solo try following a guide first with notes on it explaining everything in it and why they did it. like Maxrolls website always have good stuff. it will tell you what to avoid in that build what to look for what mistakes usually people do...etc
and Ziz and other content creators have great videos the community is so good for Poe and everyone wants to learn more even when you have 5k hours you still learn new stuff and interactions

Is it me, or has Ziz not put out one build guide for the new league? No complaints. Love the content, just surprised.
200-300 life per act is about right. 300 is very safe and with 200 you will probably die a few times.
It would be a really nice QoL for GGG to add clearer prefix/suffix indicators. LE has a decent UI for this.
just hold Alt on PC or L3 on console and it shows them, its right there, and its better that its a hotkey modifier cos its less visual clutter if you dont care about that

I watchedd this video 3 times, i have no idea what is being discussed.
I really do wanna give PoE an honest go, but stuff like that crafting trick he did with the bow is just incomprehensible to me. I appreciate the effort to explain it, but the idea that I have to know that stuff to efficiently play the game just scares me off instantly.
Hoping PoE 2 is made to be somewhat approachable, or by some miracle D4 becomes good. Otherwise Last Epoch it is.
You can just play trade until you learn how to craft. Also you dont need perfect gear to farm t16 maps in poe.

Man i really wish we could have 2 passive skill trees like the new atlas ones, so i could enjoy the game without having to abandon the seasons when i reach the atlas, i understand the balance, but its a bad game design to swap from a leveling build to the final build you desire, we should def have 2 passive skills tree so we could have a leveling build (that we could respec later on using orbs) so when we reach atlas we could swap to the build we want, since even if we found better gear for another type of build, we could even build towards a difrent type of build, i wouldnt mind for it to be a mtx, or if it had like an hour cooldown per swap, as a casual player i hate the part in where i already feel burned out finishing the god damn anoying 10 arcs that become a long chore if the build you are going towards isnt good for leveling, its horrible the feeling of not being worth it completing the build because u have to do several steps back with skill points and gems just to start maping, i wish they could someday fix that.
Not in a million years will we get 2 passive trees. The more sensible fix to your “problem” would be to just give more refund points during campaign, but watching interviews with the devs they are adamant about not allowing too many re specs during campaign. 2 passive trees would be busted. You could cheese any mechanic by having some degenerate build on swap tailored for it. A lot of people would have some zhps billion dps boss killer on swap.
@@cwjalexx thats why it would need to be a cooldown for the swap, because fuck respecing, i abandoned last epoch for the same thing and there respec are almost free. The respec is the issue, from leveling to build, despite not having the build not even seted up yet with the core items, it would have sence to respec from leveling to kinda make it work to low tier maps, but again, leveling builds at this point of the game, in where FUCK DOING the 10 acts every single time, i dont like em anymore, they are a chore i would rather not do it, all i want is to play the atlas, but i never get to enjoy it because the acts burn the fun out, its anoying i want to be invested in this game so bad but i really hate doing the acts because im forced to do a leveling build, for then to respec to convert it into a half backed build that dosnt work. I rather have a weaker version of the build i want and push all the acts but no, u need a proper build for the acts because balance for most skills are a mess, some skill require just 1 support gem and gg u can rush trhu all the acts, others cant do shit even if u link em to 10 suport gems. Thats why i was saying the dual skill tree, so i can use one for leveling that later on would be respeced to a solo target o specific iteration of the build i want, and the other the maping and final build. Swapable in a totem or someshit like that in the hideout like once per hour.

the fact u didnt include the best use for vaal orbs early, is suprizing, in trade league whenever u get a vaal orb use it on Haste, if u get Vaal Haste easy money/powercreep

@@AzurechHaste aura, vaal haste sells for a crapton and is use by any build, it´s an accelerator to endgame, aka just use your vaal orbs on the skill gem called haste and sell/use it

Thumbs down! This only applies to cakewalk mode. Nothing at all about ruthless mode. And no ruthless mode is not for anybody who is looking for a hard-mode type challenge. It's just for anybody who isn't looking for a typical RPG easy mode. In the case of PoE, Ruthless is closer to an actual normal mode. I don't play cakewalk mode. Ruthless or uninstall. There is nothing wrong with enjoying cakewalk mode. But there are only two valid reasons - you enjoy easy mode games or you enjoy some gem/mechanic more than actually playing a more legit/balanced mode. Any reason for enjoying cakewalk other than those two = false rationalization that can be used by any easy mode user about normal mode for any game. Considering ruthless mode is objectively considerably much better balanced/designed than cakewalk mode. And cakewalk mode is objectively balanced exactly how easy modes for rpg games are (which is considered extremely poorly balanced for a normal difficulty mode).
There is no easy mode in PoE it's only hard and harder. Learning interactions is complex enough already
