    ps. if you are new to my channel or watching one of my videos for the first time, let me introduce myself....
    Hey Guys
    My name is Alex Ridgeway, I am a Farrier in Newmarket, England. I created this channel to share some of my experiences working with horses. I aim to create entertaining videos as part of my farrier vlog, but I will let you be the judge of that!
    I am also producing educational videos about horse's Anatomy, How to’s, and I hope to produce videos all about different pathologies and how to better care for your horse. We have also opened a fully functioning Farriers Forge just outside of Newmarket, England. The plan is to encourage certain horses to the Forge, this will allow us to custom make and create specific shoeing plan to best suit these horses and to maximise their true potential.
    Please check out some of my other videos. I hope you enjoy the videos and they can bring you some value.
    I would really appreciate you're feedback and if you can offer support by subscribing even better ( it’s completely free!!!) Thank you!!👍
    Don't forget to LIKE and SHARE these videos with your friends!
    Thank you for watching!

    my riding school recently gave half the horses shoes, and one of the more active and motivated mare got shoes, and i can already see the difference, she's not as excited and doesn't want to go very fast anymore. I asked "why does she have shoes?" and my teacher said "Its because she works really hard and needs the extra support". DO shoes help support a horse?

    Really interesting video mate. Love the use of the yellow dots to show conformation and movement, these will work well when trying to explain things to clients as well 👍

      Harry Spinks Thanks Harry. Yes the markers work great and really help train the eye too. I think they would help apprentices a lot and a trick we will be certainly using in the future.

      So true:) I also enjoy James shoeing videos too. I was just watching one of your older videos where you were putting in a glue patch on a front left horse from Holland. I never heard of that kind of glue before. I basically only use Eqilox. but im always ready for something new and shiny

    Is that back foot negative plane distal phalanx

    • @AlexRidgewayFarrier
      @AlexRidgewayFarrier  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott Glew hi scott, yes mark was explaining a de rotation of the pedal which would explain the much higher coronary trajectory along with the arch to the sole directly in front of the frog apex. As the pedal bone should be at an angle already it’s hard to say whether is negative angle or just reduced angle. X-rays would be needed to make that assumption I would think.

    so much information to take in and this is just part one. shoeing is not as simple as it seems. the dot on the front of the hoof seemed a little off center. did he explain why it's not centered? BTW seriously! smoking in the barn! I don't care who you are; if somebody was smoking in my barn, I'd slap the snot out of them, drag them out, and not let them back in until there was an understanding of barn etiquette and safety.

      @popcorns house the problem? did you not watch the video? you never smoke in a barn. you know....fire and hay don't mix well.

    At 11:55, "interpretate" is that a British verb?

    • @AlexRidgewayFarrier
      @AlexRidgewayFarrier  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interpretate is a real word, but it is now regarded as an archaic form, and the preferred verb with this meaning is interpret. As with similar controversial words like conversate and orientate, it is criticized as being needlessly long. Since good rhetorical style favors few wasted words, it follows (for many people) that good vocabulary choices should not waste letters.

    How can he even think of smoking a cigarette inside the horses home? With all that dry grass, it can start a fire!

    An example of poor shoeing. This farrier did not shoe to the bony column. It has nothing to do with shoes or no shoes.
