2024 Channel Review and Goals

- Time for my obligatory yearly self indulgence - looking over the channel goals and growth, and setting goals for the new year. As always, thanks to everyone who's subscribed, and to everyone who's stuck around in 2023!
Somehow my new years videos keep coming in a month later than they should. Funny, that!
Here's to another year of well-thought out game development insights!
I know I can't tell you what to do, But could you make a video about deck size? Something i realized with my own game is that Sometimes 40 cards isn't enough. it might be, but now I've realized and accepted the benefits of a 50 to 60 card deck. Games like yugioh and monster crown might make 40 cards work, but their card copy limit is 3 copies instead of 4 like so many other tcg's. I'd say this is worthy of study.
That's a good topic - I still struggle with what deck size to use in my games, so definitely worth a look! There's a lot of variation and it'll be interesting to see how different games approach it and what those deck sizes accomplish for gameplay and deck-building. I've added the idea to my short-list!
It would be very cool if you make a video about digital tcgs and the desing differences they might have like randomness of generating cards
At the moment I'm keeping myself busy with physical tcgs, but digital is definitely a topic I'd be interested in getting into at some point. Definitely some differences in how design can work that are really interesting!

Anyway ; i definitely think the idea of setting quantity goals ain't a good idea over quality and in terms of quality the channel is already really good tbh.
Also, shoutout to the Shadowverse Evolve starter decks on the picture you've shown, i'm a mod on the french discord server and provisional judge and the game in Japan is getting better and better with each expansion. (I definitely hope it stays in the long run in EN and don't get discontinued)

I knew there had to be a more straightforward mathematics way of expressing the combinations, but I didn't realize it was just an exponent! And yeah, looking forward to trying Shadowverse - the really solid tokens included in the starter deck are a nice touch, and show some real care was put into the release, so I'm curious how all the elements come together in gameplay!
I discovered your channel quite recently and I just love it. I am sure you will achieve all your goals you set for yourself (and even more!). One new game I would like your opinion on is « Altered » . It seems to have plenty of new (and hopefully good) ideas.
First I've heard of it and it looks really interesting! It's especially interesting as it looks like it's coming more from board game designs rather than tcgs and rpgs that form the backbone of a lot of more traditional tcg design. I'll definitely keep an eye on it!

Near the end of 2023 I found out my favorite game, (even though it died back in 2009) has been kept alive online on facebook.
Anyway, I have been totally absorbed by it again.
I wish I could share it with you but, such is life.

Hoping things fall into place quickly enough I don't have to, but yeah, definitely a good idea! Especially since it's such an easy step to get caught up on when making a game.
I started one piece as well and its surprisingly addicting. Are you an RP Luffy enjoyer too?
Yep! I'm really loving RP Luffy in the current format, and I've been playing around with the OP06 format as well, and RP Law is really fun there as well. RP just seems to be my favourite colour combination in this game.
I didn't know you had an email listed. What do you expect people to write to you about?
I originally put it there so people could reach out about sponsored content. Then I figured out I didn't really want to do sponsored content. I don't really do much with it at the moment, but it is useful to have a communication option that isn't just youtube comments.

Hope you meet your goals and I think you did a decent job with the 2023 ones. I like your game summaries, especially for JP only games that are more difficult to try or find good info on.

Yeah that's a good summary. I was floored when Diva was announced for an English release, happy to see a second year, and kinda shocked to see the third year start with tournaments and roadmaps outlined. Here's to keeping the game alive through white Tawil and black Umr, English Arts, and whatever else they do to keep from making a fourth format. Would love to see whatever you end up brewing.
I was honestly fully prepared for the game to fall off after 2 sets - especially since it launched in the middle of "C" - during Max(x) C, if you will. I bought the JP Niji set, since I figured there was no way EN would stay alive long enough to get there. Yet here we are? It's been wild, and I'm so glad I get to keep playing Wixoss in english. Got at least one spicy deck I want to put out a video for, so definitely more Wixoss content coming this year. Starting to run out of JP-only games I can really dive into, but I've got one that's so obscure there's not even JP card text I can copy-paste into a translator. There's almost nothing left of it on the internet at all. So it's a long-term project, but hoping I've got at least a few more coming down the road on that front as well.
