I had a heart attack 12 years ago and am now doing fine. I am on blood pressure medication and I have to take a stress test every other year. My blood pressure is fine until I get in that room and it elevates. But end up relaxing enough to pass. When I get home, I take my blood pressure machine and take my blood pressure and it always falls back down to good numbers. Too bad you can't make house calls to do this!! My doctor prescribes me Cyclobenzaprine to take at night if needed as a muscle relaxer, and Pregabalin as a nerve blocker, I have no history of seizures and was only prescribed the Pregabalin for my nerve pain, Pregabalin doesn't make me intoxicated in any way. Is this an automatic disqualification? or could I possibly get a note from my doctor? Thank you

Thanks! If we found blood in your urine we would ask you to consult with your doctor to investigate the cause but would not automatically disqualify. Pending the reason for the blood we could then potentially certify you. Hope this helps!

Hey Doc, I have MS and currently take Ponvory orally (1 pill a day). My MS is very controlled and I’m doing great. No issues whatsoever. Does this diagnosis disqualify my chances of getting my CDL-A altogether?
Does lupus sle that is in remission and mostly controlled by medication disqualify for CDL? How about concerta or adderall? Would I need clearance letters for both before physical? Also are the DOT physical standards the same in every state? Or do different states have different rules? I want to drive a school bus part time but I won’t waste my time if lupus disqualifys me all together.

I go for my drug test on Monday and then after that, I have to go for the physical exam. I’ve been prescribed Adderall since middle school , because of my ADHD, I’m 35 now, and I am on Xanax which I have been on for the last 12 years due to social anxiety and PTSD. Physically I am completely fine. I have great vision. Am I going to be disqualified because of being prescribed Adderall and Xanax?
Two questions 1) Do they go back over our history to see if we have had history with high blood pressure? Meaning, if I go in and check the boxes that say I've never had any health problems, will they, the DOT, come back a few days later and say, "Um, you lied on your paperwork because not only did you have high blood pressure, but you've stated in three previous tests that you were on BP medication and you could only get the three months card at one time. 2) Am I reading it right that since I've had a history of high blood pressure, and if I'm honest and mark I did, even if Im off medication, do I have to settle for the one year medical card? Thanks.
All of this depends on the individual medical examiner. For our clinic in general 1. we would only look at past medical history if we did the previous exams. 2. if BP is normal and off meds then a 2 year is possible
I have nerve damage in my right foot. I can move my foot, but there's weakness when lifting up and i can't articulate my toes. Would this be disqualifying?

If it is 180/100 range, and that person cannot be certified in your office, is that person then entered a nationwide system? 10:40
they are entered into the FMCSA system as disqualified.

I would accept a note from your doctor but this is up to the individual examiner.

So if there pushing for sleep apnea because of weight or neck size and normal blood pressure. Why are people not passing

There is no FMCSA standard for evaluating depression medications. It's up to the individual doctor.

Lupus is not an automatic disqualification. Yes on the clearance letters.
Do doctors look in youre eye? Like if im wearing contacts will they still shine a light jn my eye?

The DOT physical does not require and X-ray. This will be an additional request by the employer

Didn't the DOT do away with the bmi standard unless you are over 40 then a sleep apnea test is required?
A sleep apnea test is never required. This is up to the doctors discretion.
