Garcinia atroviridis - Bright orange yellow fruit. Sundried slices are known as asam keping and are used in curries and soups, or stewed in sugar. Dried rinds of underripe fruit are used in curries in place of tamarind and used for dressing fish.
Max thought it was banana ahaha Pangkor is amazing and was definitely amazing the change for few days. Seeing the hornbills was a unique experience that we kind of normalised a bit... ahaha
@carmaadventures Haha. Besides the fresh banana, perhaps you guys could try the fried banana, smoked banana, banana crisp. I wonder if you guys visited one of the fisherman villages on Pangkor, see how they process seafood, mainly sun drying the seafood, especially dried anchovies, one of the main components for nasi lemak. Glad to see you guys have had a good time in Pangkor. One of these days when you guys are well endowed with traveling budget, check out to stay at Pangkor Laut Resort or at the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, St Regis in Langkawi. 😀
The Dutch fort was used by the Dutch East Indies Company to store tin bars. Tin was the most sought mineral in the state of Perak, or in Peninsular Malaysia in general.
Do check out the little towns in Perak state as well. There are beautiful temples and perak in my opinion has some of the most decorative churches, both Catholic and Anglican, in Malaysia due to its tin mining past
i think you both got an aura where animals kind a like to attract/attach to you guys, either from sea, land or air... LOL.. anyway Happy Anninversary guys..
Hi good day.... Recomended you try a local food noodle name LAKSA MEE in Pangkor.... This noodle only can find in Pangkor and Pantai Remis Perak... Maybe price around 5 to 7 ringgit. Can find at Malay food noodle shop in breakfast time. Have a nice day in Pangkor.
Have fun and enjoy your anniversary on Pangkor Island. But if you like beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, do give Pulau Perhentian a try!😊✌️
Pulau Pangkor is wonderful but beautiful islands with crystal clear water popular for snorkeling, scuba diving are at the the east coast: Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Tioman etc. Also at Sabah the islands near Semporna 🏝
Dog looks like a rare Malaysian breed, the Telomian or probably just another mongrel. It has some of the hyperactivity described of Telomian. If it doesn't bark but only howl and growl, it is definitely a Telomian
The been swamped by large crowd..thats good. I prefer this kind of tranqulity..i usually not so interested if so many people were there..no peace somehow..
The fruit drying in the sun? Those are asam gelugur. Don't think it has an English name. Whole fruit shaped like a small pumpkin. It's extremely sour, so we slice and dry it, and are used in lots of liquidy, curry, soupy dishes to add sourness/tartness in cooking. If you've had anything sour - laksa, etc - you've probably had a taste of it.
The beautiful floating mosque 🕌 is pronounced Masjid Al Badar. Badar was the battleground outside Medina, the holy city of Islam, now in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, where Muslims first fought in major battle with the army from Mecca who came to attack them and want to crush Islam in Medina. However, the Meccan army was defeated in that battle.

Been to Pangkor 3 times already, quite a nice island.
The fruit that were being sundried could be asam gelugor, a sour fruit used in cooking for many Malay dishes.
Told you guys, you can see hornbills in peninsular Malaysia like in Pangkor or Langkawi etc.
Max thought it was banana ahaha Pangkor is amazing and was definitely amazing the change for few days. Seeing the hornbills was a unique experience that we kind of normalised a bit... ahaha

That was the Komodo Dragon's close cousin, the Malaysian giant monitor lizard that you recorded there.😅😂

The giant lizards or in Malay, we call it biawak (pronounced bee-yarr-warc) eat 🐍🥚. Therefore, they are natural predators to 🐍).
