Once McDonalds and the like moved to source halal meat for their burgers, Ramly burgers pivoted to be the burger supplier for street burger kiosks. Eventually these sellers started to experiment with different condiments and cooking techniques till they came up with the way we get them now. Amazingly, even before the advent of the internet, the way that Ramly burger is now constructed spread throughout the country and you can get it all over the country. It is uniquely Malaysia so we’re kind of partial to it and proud to showcase it as a uniquely Malaysia street food 😊

i usually find tourists had a hard time with Ramly burger chili sauce. sometimes that can be a turn off. with Ramly burger stalls, you can actually request like no chili sauce or no mayo or no veges etc. during ordering. the thing with this burger is the subtle taste gonna be different from stall to stall. to us Malaysians once we found our "stallmate" we'll stick to that stall only 😂

Ramly burger is very special to many Malaysian especially the Malay Muslim, I think, mainly because it's the first Halal brand for a frozen meat patties for burgers. Over the decades, there are more than a dozen Ramly products. Most of the street burgers in Malaysia are using the Ramly burger patties and Ramly Burger buns, sauces etc. Just to let you know there are few other local brands that came out with frozen Halal burger patties. One of my favorites besides Ramly is Marina.
its famaous bcoz its cheap n filling .. in da 90s the majority of people who eat those burger were the uni student ..n a teenager whos hang out in late nite..if im not mistaken ..the price of dat soecial burger wrapped with eggs in early 90s only rm1.50-rm1.80..depend on the location..while if they r eating at the restaurant. example the price for the fried rice at dat time rm3.50-rm 4.50 per plate..so the student can save a lots of money😊

Sqare ramly patties are meant for grilling. Chicken/beef they are flavored with smoky flavor to imitate grilling flavors. You should try again with circular ramly patties. Maybe a different shop. Different shop makes it differently. By the way, its no.1 because it is sinply the best, fresh, and cheaper than the rest.
Ramli's is the best.. I suggest that you ask the locals where the best Ramli burger stall is.. because there are sellers who want to make more profit by using cheap brand meat patties (not Ramli), so that you can feel the authenticity of the Ramli burger

Carol & Max, sorry to spoil it for you but you are eating the wrong McD burger. At this time of year, you should go for the McD PROSPERITY BURGER. It is a seasonal burger that comes out before Chinese New Year (that is about now), and you can only get it in Malaysia. I recommend the beef. Chicken does not have the same punch. You complained about McD burgers being dry, the Prosperity Burger is swimming in sauce and onions. You must try it. This is the only time you can get it. If you miss this chance, you will have to wait until next year.

Because of its size, the originality and the taste.. That's why it's special.. But it is not Ramly burger Ramly is just the patty, not the bread/bun, lettuce, sauces.. We called it stall burger or burger only.. Not Ramly burger.. My late father sells burger (stall) in 1985 when I was 8 years old..

The Prosperity Burger in McD. It's only once a year menu, starting 1 month prior to the Chinese New Year.
A choice of beef or chicken. It's yummy. 😋
