    The last time I've tried this method, the digitizer adhesive looks like it is thicker than the usual and that caused the digitizer to crack again after couple days of usage, any ideas?

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that has been a real problem for a few years now. For whatever reason the replacement digitizers come with a slightly thicker adhesive (and glass even the home button will recess) to make it worse they are not cut out in places they should be. This makes modification of the frame necessary.
      So what I have to do is carefully remove the adhesive from the replacement digitizer and cut down the raised plastic areas on the frame. Then I use a good primer on the frame to improve bonding and a thinner adhesive. What you will discover is even the glass is slightly thicker, there will be a very slight edge of glass raised above the rear cover because it's too thick to recess below the rim. At least it will allow the glass to lay flat on the frame and prevent the home button from recessing. It's a pain.
      P.S. If your curious you can use digital calipers to measure the difference in thickness of the glass. Hope this helps.

    I have the s mt377r4. Its exactly the same as the one in this video in most aspects. I watched your video a few times first before attempting to do this on my own. 3rd time I'd pause during each step. I used i tiny eyeglass screwdriver for the screws and and as a spudgy and to separate the glass from the black part a regular playing card being careful of the home button and connectors. Worked great. Replaced the glass and the black, i guess that's the digitizer with no problem in about half hour start to finish. Thanks for such a well made video john.

    Thanks for the information offered in this Video, in particular about waiting to adhere the Glass until the Mid Frame was latched in place, also the testing out the Display prior to snapping it back together. I was just replacing the Battery (which was blown up like a balloon) and went unnoticed because it was in a hard case and unused for a few years. The swollen Battery had actually pushed the glass loose. Randy AKA randog311

    Where do I find the piece that is attached to the green board where you connect the front glass? You are talking about it from 12:36 to 12:54. It is broken but since it is a small piece I do not know how is it call and how to fix it.

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean but it sounds like your talking about the connector for the digitizer, if that's broken you have a problem. Replacing that will require microsoldering and should be done by an experienced person with the proper tools. If it's just the clamp that's broken it is possible to pull one from a donor board and replace it without soldering but helps if you have a microscope or at least a magnifying glass.

    Great video. One question - shortly after I completed the repair, I noticed that my GPS accuracy does not seem to be as good as it used to be, and often will have difficulty tracking my location. Is it possible I did not reattach a cable correctly? Where is the antenna for the GPS located and could it have been affected?

    do i have to use a heat gun to warn up the edges of the screen before i start dig in the edges? i know with other electronics you have to so i was wondering if its the same thing with this one? or it comes right out without the heat gun?

    • @FixItPlanet1
      @FixItPlanet1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is adhesive around the edges. Warming it makes it easier and reduces the risk of damage to the digitizer but is not required.

    great job on the repair! Thanks for the video. I have a related question that I hope you can answer. I recently bought one from T-mobile so their model is the SM-T377T. After powering the Tab E, I noticed that the Recent Apps and Back keys to the left and right of the home key did not light up. from past experience with Samsung phones like the S5 etc, those keys have always illuminated when touched. Do you know if in this model, the two capacitive keys have been purposely left without illumination?

    • @FixItPlanet1

    • @FixItPlanet1

      It belongs to the entry-level "E" line of the Samsung Galaxy Tab series. The "A" or or "V" etc. denotes the carrier (if any) such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint,T-Mobile.
      As long as you are replacing the touchscreen by itself and not the frame or parts of the logic board then you should be good.
