You did a great job! Came for the dress, stayed for the cat 😂. I have a similar cat, but mine is a brown classic tabby. I usually wait for a couple of videos before subscribing to a new channel, but I was already subscribed before the video finished. You remind me of Rachel Maksin. You're European Rachel to me (because of the red hair and down to earth personality).
Some reasons why one may think Liz is older in that portrait: Liz Taylor said that when Halsman took that photo that he told her that two sides of her face photographed differently: one younger and the other more mature. I’m pretty sure she chose the latter side for the photo. She said this photo was the first time she saw herself as a woman, and it made her cut her hair so she would look older. It also could be partly cultural: most of us today would associate a classical look with someone older, we know Liz Taylor herself as a Sex symbol today, our ideas of the conservative culture of the time period makes us think they wouldn’t let a 16 year old wear such a revealing dress, etc. One could also say it’s because times were different. Our culture is still predatory today, so one might say 16 for a girl was considered “grown enough” by ppl(mostly men) back then. It could also be her mindset or how she held herself. While all teens think they’re adults, Liz was in very adult situations(sadly) from a young age.
i feel like i'm missing something here... this is the first video of yours i found and i was incredibly confused by your subscriber count?? HOW do you not have millions of subscribers already? i really hope the channel growth (that you ABSOLUTELY deserve) comes soon! ❤
Absolutely stunning! I love the color. You're beautiful. I just realized that Simplicity 1155 is a pattern with a similar take on the dress. It has a waist seam but does have the gussets in the skirt too. You did a fantastic job!!
Ha ha your cat is adorable. Look like we sewists all have the same problem with cats. 😂 I go with the same ordeal when cutting my fabrics. Inly exception instead of one I have multiple cats attacking my fabrics. And sometimes they get mad at each other and start a fight on my fabric. 😂 One of the reason I gave up doing bridal dresses
I really like it, especially the color and that you diyed it out of other patterns! I think depending on how you style it, you can also wear it on more casual occasions. Maybe try to wear it in spring with a short cream cardigan over it or a longsleeve shirt underneath and then a pair of sneakers or other flat shoes of your choice? (I don't know how cold it is in spring in Norway though, in Germany it depends on the day, so maybe summer would be more fitting😂) Regarding you channelname. A lot of creators on youtube once had a different channelname and then changed it to their normal name to make it more personal, so keeping your first name in it is a good idea. :) What about something like "Marlenas sewing corner"? That was the first thing that came into my mind when you asked for a name idea. It has the main theme of your channel in it sewing, but leaves the direction of sewing content more open. Also I think it sounds a little like a place where you casually meet with friends to talk about sewing stuff and tring out new sewing things which is what you're doing from my point of view. But it may lack the humourous aspect of your channel. "Marlenas sewing atelier" could also be an option, sounds more fancy and since you have a sewing room also fitting and atelier directly sounds like a more creative space. "Marlenas sewing adventures" sounds more like a book title, is maybe a little overtherop but could be also interesting. You could also add other adjectives into the title: "Marlenas cozy/creative (sewing) corner/atelier" Just as inspiration for you to think about. Since a channel name will stick with you for a long time, it is totally okay to take your time with finding the name that fits your vision for the channel and feels right for you. ❤ Hope my input helps a little and wishing you a nice week! :)
Thank you so much for your comment!!🤩❤️🙏 I loved all your suggestions! It will be really hard to pick one name😅 I also looooove the idea of wearing this dress with a cream coloured cardigan! I'm going to order yarn ASAP!🤩
The dress is gorgeous!! Love he fabric you chose as well. The colour of the dress matched with the salmon petticoat was perfect. Keep up the amazing content ❤🎉
This dress is stunning, I love vintage clothing, your cat is adorable it was so fun watching your seamstress talents! I can't sew but hope to learn one day to make the wardrobe of my dreams myself. Best Wishes, Marlena
I love the dress and how it turned out. It fits you well. I have a few dresses that people tell me that I have no place to wear them to but I don't listen and wear them when I feel like it or to the theater or symphony. You should do the same. We only get one life to live. My son loves Pinky! He wants to know if Pinky is part forest cat. He's more of a cat lover than I am. Strays around here come to him but are feral to the rest of the world.
It turned out so beautifully!! You should definitely be proud of yourself!! Well done! I have to tell you though that I was stressed out watching you iron onto yourself! 😳
I loved this video immensely!! ❤ I can totally relate to having a dress stuck in your head, but for me they’ve never come out yet 😅 It looks amazing, and I agree with everyone else. You HAVE to wear it out somewhere! Everyone will think you’re a celebrity
Squeeze them dresses out!! 😄❤️ as some other commener said, this world needs more whimsy! I will keep my fingers crossed for you ❤️ Thank you so much for your comment 🤗❤️
I go look at vintage clothes but I have to make something I can wear regularly. I have a Chanel suit that Elizabeth Taylor wore on my list to make! So maybe your day to day clothes could take inspiration from that.
Wow, thank you so much!😊❤️❤️ I come from a post-communist, ultra Roman Catholic country, so the ability to praise myself was weeded out of my very soul before I even learned to speak in full sentences😂 it's ok. I'm ok😂😂🙈
Absolutely OBSESSED with this dress, it's definitely jumped onto my to-sew list for this summer even though god knows ive got too many things on that list already
So gorgeous! You should release the pattern you created. What fabric did you use? Also, my suggestion for channel name is Marlena Makes. It is still your name but is more searchable. It is also flexible if you make more than sewn garments and make accessories etc in the future :) I have been really enjoying your channel, and Pinky ❤
oh my, it's the first time that i sweat on a sewing video! this image of youy with your iron 😳... the dress is absolutely fantastic and this green with the zipper in gold 👌 for your name, marlena is a beautiful name but if you add "sew" or what for the algorythm it's better so maybe marlena's sewing workshop? 🕶
First of all, you look like maybe 30. But a very young 30. Second of all, MAKE THE THINGS THAT BRING YOU JOY. This bullshit ass world deserves more whimsy. Third of all, I am also perplexed by the waist wrinkles. Maybe it's a torso shortening need? No idea. I'm in a class right now, so I might understand tailoring one day. It's not this day. Fourth and lastly of all, this dress turned out AMAZING and you are my hero.
it looks amazing!! I was super sure you were going to add boning on the dres, such dresses usually have it, and then you did french seams and I was supper confused, and then you added the lining and I was even more confussed but I'm very glad it came out the way it did, also great helper you had! love seeing Pinky happy 😃
Thank you so much!😃❤️ I was lucky because I already had a "corset" with boning to use underneath the dress 😃 I used the same corset pattern for the top of the dress, so the boning of the corset falls in exactly the same place as the seams on the dress 🤩

One of the reason I gave up doing bridal dresses
I really like it, especially the color and that you diyed it out of other patterns!
I think depending on how you style it, you can also wear it on more casual occasions. Maybe try to wear it in spring with a short cream cardigan over it or a longsleeve shirt underneath and then a pair of sneakers or other flat shoes of your choice? (I don't know how cold it is in spring in Norway though, in Germany it depends on the day, so maybe summer would be more fitting😂)
Regarding you channelname. A lot of creators on youtube once had a different channelname and then changed it to their normal name to make it more personal, so keeping your first name in it is a good idea. :)
What about something like "Marlenas sewing corner"? You could also add other adjectives into the title: "Marlenas cozy/creative (sewing) corner/atelier"
Just as inspiration for you to think about. Since a channel name will stick with you for a long time, it is totally okay to take your time with finding the name that fits your vision for the channel and feels right for you. ❤
Hope my input helps a little and wishing you a nice week! :)
Thank you so much for your comment!!🤩❤️🙏 I loved all your suggestions! It will be really hard to pick one name😅
I also looooove the idea of wearing this dress with a cream coloured cardigan! I'm going to order yarn ASAP!🤩
@@Marlenasewing Glad I could help! :)❤️
How cool, I hope you'll show us how you style it together in a video! 😍
The dress is absolutely beautiful!! As for your channel name, I think Marlena is perfect but I can understand you wanting something more searchable 🤩
ooh, so much kitty content
Absolutely stunning! Yourself and Mr Pinky done a fabulous job! 💕
Gorgeous…you certainly have to find somewhere to wear this dress and enjoy wearing it…stunning…🥰🇦🇺
Amazing work! You should be very proud! You look beautiful in the dress!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you ❤️
Thank you so much for your comment 🤗❤️
I go look at vintage clothes but I have to make something I can wear regularly. I have a Chanel suit that Elizabeth Taylor wore on my list to make! So maybe your day to day clothes could take inspiration from that.
STUNNING! Your skills are better than you think.
Bless you dear Marlena.
🥰
Wow, thank you so much!😊❤️❤️ I come from a post-communist, ultra Roman Catholic country, so the ability to praise myself was weeded out of my very soul before I even learned to speak in full sentences😂 it's ok. I'm ok😂😂🙈
Poland by any chance? 🥰 My good friend's name is Ania! @@Marlenasewing
Brilliant job. Name options: Marlene Mode, Chic Choc
This dress turned out beautifully, really well done!
Thank you so much! 😊🙏❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely OBSESSED with this dress, it's definitely jumped onto my to-sew list for this summer even though god knows ive got too many things on that list already
Omg, thank you so much!!🥳 I hope you make it for yourself too!!❤️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh I’ve wanted to make this same dress when I was younger!! Yours turned out beautifully!
You should absolutely go for it!!😃❤️❤️❤️ it's never too late!😃 thank you so much for your comment!🤗❤️
The dress looks fabulous! I think Marlena and Mr Pinky would be a really cute name for the channel
So gorgeous! You should release the pattern you created. What fabric did you use?
Also, my suggestion for channel name is Marlena Makes. It is still your name but is more searchable. It is also flexible if you make more than sewn garments and make accessories etc in the future :)
I have been really enjoying your channel, and Pinky ❤
oh my, it's the first time that i sweat on a sewing video! this image of youy with your iron 😳... the dress is absolutely fantastic and this green with the zipper in gold 👌 for your name, marlena is a beautiful name but if you add "sew" or what for the algorythm it's better so maybe marlena's sewing workshop?
Oh, but P.S. I hope the burn heals quickly. 🩹
You’re so talented!
it looks amazing!!
Omg it looks increadable!! I am soooo jealous 😭
Don't be! 😃 make one for yourself too!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ooh! I love the outcome ❤ Fantastic dress! 🤩 Now I want one like that...
Thank you so much! 😊 ❤️ I hope you make it for yourself in the future!😍❤️❤️
Excellent job! Love the dress! You’re so entertaining, too!
