I am putting a welt pocket on a denim jacket. The instructions in the pattern sounded too hard I thought I would just do a patch pocket to avoid the headache. Then I remembered you had done a video on making one. After watching your clear and precise instructions, I am confident I can make a welt pocket. Thank you!
I've been terrified of welt pockets because if it is badly done, you can tell immediately that the garment is homemade. Your tutorial is the best I've seen and I especially like where you tell us where the tricky parts are and what to do to make sure that you should be especially careful. Thanks so much. I will be watching all your other tutorials because you are a good teacher!
I'm a beginner and up until now I always accomodated my lack of knowledge and skills by making simple projects, but I want to progress and I want to make a skirt with welt pockets. Your tutorial was so well made and well explainedthat I think I'm ready to try this technique ! Thank you !
Watching for the second time. I can’t find the one I cut so now I gotta make one up. But I already like the way you open the pocket to sew onto the welt and it seemed easier than I have seen before. Thanks
Dear Anastasia I have spent 2 days trying to sew a welt pocket and each time they have come out rubbish! I have just looked at your video and tomorrow I will give it a go it seems the easiest video I have found I will let you know how I get on!
Great tutorial!!!😊 To remove fusible interfacing glue from the iron soleplate, there are two methods: 1. Use a pair of tweezers and rub a paracetamol (acetaminophen) tablet on the hotplate and a dry washcloth to rub it off. This can be a fiddly method, or, 2. Use hot iron cleaner. Squeeze a bit on the washcloth and rub it in a circular motion on the hot sole plate. Now to avoid having to use any cleaning method in the future, as mentioned in the video use a pressing cloth.
This is great! But I have a question. I am making a costume that has an upper flap and the welt. The fabric is not thin like your demo. It is a suit coat for a Dickens event and I am at the place where they say to cut it. I have the top flap pinned and the welt pinned where the box is marked on my pocket lining and my coat. Can I sew the welt on and then the flap ? the instructions did not say to put interfacing on the front of the coat pocket. I am thinking I should use fusible and fuse to the coat where the welt and flap go. Your thoughts please.
This was a great way to show this process! Thank you so much for sharing this. Can I ask...How does this process change when using lining in the pocket??
For me, you just got a little too fast and a little unclear in the video starting at 9:12. Super unclear at that point unless you already knew what you’re doing luckily, I had written instructions.
I watched other tutorials and yours is the easiest to follow. I know I can actually do a welt pocket. Thank you sew sew much.❤
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad that my tutorial was helpful for you. Keep up the great work!
