    Legos... that's what you get an 8 year old boy. 😂🤣 my boy 10 now literally doesn't even ask for anything but legos. It's awesome. Hours and hours of creativity. He is even coming up with building plans for a new lego table so he can make his stop motion videos with his legos. So exciting.
    I have a 19 year old daughter that was super into makeup, dressing up and climbing trees and hunting bugs... so on that note, she loved chapstick and nail polishes. Hair chalk is fun. Small bows. And she loves, yes still to this day, fun knee high socks. Their her favorite things to wear.

    Amazing haul! We get a family game every year as a gift and also usually some smaller, less expensive games for the kids. Love the recommendations! I appreciate your gift videos especially because it's not a bunch of toys and cheap stuff. I love the high quality, art/craft/making and learning things you show us.

    My plan is accessories and hair things..different glosses with different smells (we have a local seller who uses essential oils and other natural products). I think getting use to the idea of minimalism in the area of makeup can be helpful too.

    Man that caboodle brings back memories! 😂 I love your approach to gifts giving where it’s a mixture of fun toys and educational activities. I considered buying a scribble scrubbie for my four year old, but might wait till her birthday in March. I’d love to know how you like the Dave Ramsey board games! 🤗

    My older kids are all boys and my oldest girl is only 6...so with that in mind - I am remembering myself at that age and that is when I started liking scented lotions and body sprays, if you can find stuff with natural scents. Also a nail grooming set and some nail polish. Otherwise, what you have is great. Perfection - I still get anxious just thinking about that, haha.

    I have an 11 year old boy but also an 11 years old niece! I’m an esthetician so I am always getting all of my nieces fun bath/makeup gifts!! Lush is very popular for the preteens (I’m also in Florida) tarte makeup is a little pricey, but they have a lot of neutrals that are good for girls just getting started and they aren’t putting junk on their face!! Too faced is also good for this reason! Make sure she doesn’t use the scrub more than 2x a week and isn’t scrubbing too hard!! So important! Getting her on a skin care regimen now is so important so it is habit by the time she is a teen and may need it (hormonal skin)! Masks are also a great way for her to have fun with her girlfriends at sleepovers!! Have a great time on your ski trip!💕 Love from South Florida!

    OMG that caboodle is bringing back all the memories 🤣 it is a great gift for a 10 year old dancer! My daughter is just shy of 8 and would love it. ( She is a dancer and goes to 3 competitions this year as well as her end of the year recital) As a dance mom I’m thinking could also add in a mascara and a blush. Also what about a sheet face mask? I’m not sure of the hair accessories that you bought but what about hair nets and those wider bobby pins for buns (🤣 I totally forget the name of them). Thanks for sharing ☺️

    I got my girls (6 & 8) those same caboddles that I plan to fill with makeup, so far I only got eyeshadow pallets and brushes but Im looking for a variety pack of nontoxic lipsticks/lipgloss to go in there too. I will have to remember to put the face wipes in there too, thats a great idea! My 8 yo girl would love the stuff you got your boy, jurassic world legos and science kits are right up her ally.

    My sister who just turned 12 also wanted some cosmetic items. We got things like body mists, so not full blown perfume but a light spray for her shirt. We also are giving nail polish but only pastels and clear with glitter or glow in the dark type polish. Lip shimmer, and hand lotions. Just things she can keep in her backpack that make her feel good with out being too adult!

    For my 12 year old she got a lot of makeup products to try and play around with. When she was 10/11 the main thing she got instead of make up was nail polish. She got a bunch of colours nail art items, brushes everything to do her nails in fun designs. Her and her friends spent hours playing with it.

    The caboodle! A hit and on my daughter's list too. We have 12 y.o. and a 10 y.o. girls. My 12 y.o. is more into the girly items and my 10 y.o. is still in the active play stage, which I'm thankful for. Your video was helpful, thank you for making it. We also have a 7 y.o. son and he'd like the things you got for your boys. For some crazy reason, he's asking for a mini-fridge! Lol! 😂

      @@RootedinRest , even funnier is that I STILL have mine from when I was a kid! LOL! That's partly why my daughter wanted one right when she saw it in the store. It's sad though if they aren't made as well. I haven't really used my large Caboodle much in the last 20 years, just stored some things, but my small one is still in use!

      M L u are so right!! One of my favorite you tubers was shopping for her girls and was so excited to pick one up, but when she was looking at them in the store, the hardware that closed the front had a sticker on it that was already peeling off, in the store!:( she ended up choosing something else! I definitely took my caboodle to college with me!! Haha!💕

    Just as an FYI-idk if Burts Bees tests on animals ( they probably don’t), but there are inherent issues with commercial bee keeping. It is definitely not cruelty free when it comes to the bees.

    • @RootedinRest
      @RootedinRest  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know, they do list themselves as cruelty free, so I’d love to know if you negate that. I assume that’s a fluid self proclaimed type of thing, is it regulated?

    • @kaitlyng.473
      @kaitlyng.473 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FullTimeWifeLife I think there are some certifications, like Leaping Bunny, that can determine if something is “Cruelty Free”. The tricky part is that normally that is limited to animal testing only, not necessarily what it takes to get ingredients sourced from animals (which can be very cruel). I’ve found that you have to do so much research anymore, because things just aren’t ethically produced. I’ve been researching about the mica found in so many cosmetic items, and it will absolutely break your heart.
      On a side note, I don’t have kids but I love these videos. Nice to see so much though out into gifts and making it more about family experiences and learning than just straight “stuff”.

    • @michiebutterfly7785
      @michiebutterfly7785 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FullTimeWifeLife I have recently read some negative press about burts bees specifically, about having not so great ingredients in their products. Just so you know, if it is solely sold in the U.S., it is going to be cruelty free. The United States does not tear on animals anymore. China does still test on animals. Just because they are cruelty free, does not mean that there aren’t harsh chemicals in the products!! So misleading to the consumer!💕

    You got any ideas for 11 year old boy

    • @michiebutterfly7785
      @michiebutterfly7785 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an 11 year old boy. Mine is really into gaming, but since he got a lot of gaming stuff last year, I wanted to try and stay away from that as much as possible, but there is always that. A nice gaming chair is something he’s been wanting (maybe for his birthday) he really wanted an Alexa, so we got him the echo dot (it was $22 on cyber Monday, but it’s about $59 regularly) so he could listen to music while he is doing homework. He is also into adidas, so we got him an adidas track jacket (he wears the track pants to school with his school polo and refuses to wear any other pants!! Haha) my mother in law got him a not so expensive drone that I think will be fun for us all to play with at the park. He also loves lush. So some products at lush, but I’m an esthetician so he’s always been surrounded with skincare and bath products, so that may make him unique! We did end up getting him a couple gift cards for his stocking for his games. He’s currently into roblox. So that will be helpful when he needs to upgrade or make an in game purchase. I hope this helps and you and your son have a great holiday!:) P.S. I know they start getting into sneakers around this time too. So maybe a nice pair of sneakers you wouldn’t ordinarily pay the money for!:)💕Love from South Floroda
