    Can a link to the campaign be added to the description please?

    What exactly is the long-term end goal of the government's "growth at all costs forever" mantra? How could it possibly lead to anything other than an entire nation of concrete with absolutely ZERO space remaining for soil either as natural or agricultural land? What an impressively unintelligent way to run a society, country, nation, culture, etc.

    As with all link roads and by-passes, they will build along it, with shops, industrial estates and housing. Then the road will become choked with traffic and then in about 15 years' time, there will be calls for another link road or by-pass, with more infill development. Then the pattern will repeat, ad infinitum. . . . until there is nothing green left to protect.

    The UK ranks very low in biodiversity, and yet we continue to push these ill-considered develeopments.

    It is so sad that those in power rarely have any consideration for the natural world, development means profit ,end of story.

    Well you make a good case.
    Why drive a road across the widest piece of flood plain then through ancient woodland. When you have a place called Attlebridge @1m west where you have an established river crossing which could be widened. Then take the road to the east of Western Longville. Then along an old airbase runway where some old turkey sheds are. Joining the A47 as intended.
    You have to propose an alternative route. As the existing HGV link between A1067 at Lenwade which is liable to flooding and A47 is awful.

    cant fight progress! londoners have run out of land in essex and suffolk to build on, so they have to go somewhere. plus norfolk is just a bit more picturesque…for now.
    there i was thinking bats could kill any development project in seconds, but apparently not. you learn something new every day.

    I can't believe these terrible proposals are STILL being seriously considered by councils. These roads never address the actual problems they're supposed to alleviate and once those habitats and woodlands are destroyed. They're gone forever. If you want to see how these roads are ineffective, just look up the history of the ring road that was forced through Wells in Somerset in the 80s....

    Very emotive claims are being made but not one practical alternative is put forward. One campaigner spoke of "innovative and modern ways" to spend the money, but failed to detail them; so her film clip just contained meaningless words. Not convinced at all. It is negative campaigning - nimbyism.

      How about a speed camera type device, except instead of monitoring just speed it would also be used to photograph every number plate going through the local villages. If it isn't registered to a local address then the driver gets a fine, or toll fee, however one wants to see it. That might deter some people if it was a tenner every time. I also think the accusation of nimbyism is unfounded, it is their 'backyard' but it's also home to what are now quite rare ecosystems in the UK, and rare UK species live there. In fact if they were NIMBYs then why aren't they celebrating a road that is supposed to spare local villages from excessive traffic (no doubt many of the current commuters will continue to drive through the villages, reasoning that it's a bit quieter now and their journey will be faster!)? They are people who care about nature, not NIMBYs. It has been shown time and time again, over many decades, that new roads result in more journeys made, they don't effectively reduce the amount of congestion overall, though some might be redirected from specific routes such as the one currently used through the villages.

      The "not much good" you refer to will be the removal of through traffic on the rat runs around Weston Longville, Ringland and the surrounding lanes. You can carry on being negative about this problem, and that is nimbyism, but to be taken seriously you have to be realistic and come up with a practical alternative - that's the failure that undermines the campaign

    • @willisdj51
      @willisdj51 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      PS Clearly you will not be persuaded otherwise, so to carry on is just pointless. I'm not responding any more but if you feel the need to have the last word please do so but I don't need that sort of little boost.

    We don't need more roads there is enough roads already this country as far to many people get rid of all the migrants and crimenal coming in . Then we won't need more roads and villages the country is losing its beauty and its wildlife .

      Be angry at your government, the housing crisis driving these agendas was wholly predictable, the economy crashing post brexit, predictable....Blaming immigrants, predictable gammon behaviour. Short sighted tories wreaking havoc for next in line, damaging waterways, nature and the NHS beyond the pale what they got away with, corruption has been normalised!

      Thank you for making this statement, Norfolk Wildlife Trust are the hero's in this story! council pressing on it just astoundingly ignorant in the face of science and common sense! It's not the 'will of the people'
