    i got an EU2L as my first ever light, i love it because of how small it is and does a pretty good job of lighting up my room when the power goes out

    My thoughts on the Lithonia EU2l
    For the price I would definitely recommend it. I was going to make a video on all the things I like about it but I never got around to it. It has really nice optics and a high CRI with those 4000 K LEDs the snaps are built surprisingly well they are also a little bit bigger than typical units And don’t break off as easily as the generic units. The heads are really adjustable. However I’ve had the test button break on one in the past. And the color of the unit is a undesirable white Up against the white wall You can definitely see the difference. Another thing I like about it is the bright and big test button. This unit wouldn’t really look good on the ceiling because it’s not that symmetrical but when wall melted. It looks awesome. The mounting options on it is also really good. Because of it’s more square design, it covers up. Any imperfections around the junction box. and unlike the EU2 it just overall looks much better

      Yep it’s an ok emergency light! I’ve noticed on some generic units when they are white housing, the white seems a bit off. Not true white, almost like a darkish white. And I can believe the test buttons can break. They do feel a bit on the cheap side.

    Talking about exit signs and combos, I, a person who lives in NZ, a tiny country in the southern hemisphere, has been finding some US-like emergency lights around! Usally, the US-style ones are a bit rare to find as we have our own type, and that being the Legrand 659515LI. The LED's are usally placed on top, with the battery pack below in a case. We dont use combos, because the exits and the emergency lights separate devices. I got my light for $50 NZD ($29.51 USD). Was it worth it? Yes. Anyway, awesome combos and exits ExitSign250!

      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! That’s neat to hear US style emergency lights can be found elsewhere in the world. The type you are describing seem to be the current US equivalent of “industrial” emergency lights. And also I think the US/North America is one of the few places to have exit sign/emergency light combos. As you mentioned other countries like NZ typically have the units separate. Thanks for the info!

    ExitSign250, I was at a pizza place yesterday, and I saw a white housing and red lettering version of your Lithonia ECC combo. I might consider getting one of my own once I get my own place.

  • @josiah1998
    @josiah1998 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    ExitSign250, the Lithonia ECC combo reminds me of the All-Pro APLC7RG exit sign combo.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does seem very similar. I think the appearance of the ECC looks better compared to the APC, but both are still decent combos.

  • @briggscarson
    @briggscarson ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Speaking of Lithonia stuff, what do you think about them rebooting the third gen LHQM? Will you consider getting a High Output LHQM?

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a really good idea from Lithonia. It was the only good quality combo they had in their modern lineup. Unfortunately Lithonia has recently discontinued it due to lack of sales. They are very hard to find, but I’d like to have one as they are very nice.

      @@ExitSign250 I know the HO RO version should still be in production. but the version with heads was discon'd around 8/11/2023. I think it was that or the lamp head design having issues with compatability with certain environments (polycarbonate and acrylic compatibility table). and fun fact. if you heard of Compdude 512, he rendered the idea and it came to fruition many because of him.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it seems the headless version is still in production. And yes, I know Compdude512 and regularly talk with him. He and a few others had a theory that the reason for the sudden discontinuation of the LP06VS is that Lithonia wanted to change the emergency light optics to the ELM6L style which would make sense. But we’ll just have to wait and see. I personally think if this were the case they would just silently make the change without removing the combo all together from their catalog.

    I’m now wondering who invented generic exit signs, and when?

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generic exit signs weren’t really “invented” per say, but just more came around as a very cheaper alternative to the big brands. It was around the late 1990’s when generic exit signs and emergency lights first started appearing. And at the time they were rather uncommon to find but of course later would become very popular and now it seems like they are the normal.

    • @STOPHEREProductions
      @STOPHEREProductions ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ExitSign250 Well some people still use branded signs, right?

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, for sure. But unfortunately they aren’t as common to find as they used to be. Some of the big companies will rebrand generics so they get used even more.

    • @STOPHEREProductions
      @STOPHEREProductions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ExitSign250Sorry to ask, but do people use generic signs because they don’t care about the quality of emergency lighting anymore?

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @STOPHEREProductions Good question. It can be a few different reasons. When generic exit lighting first became popular, it was because of the low cost. For example, a brand name unit could be $50 while a no-name generic could be $25. People see the lower cost and can’t tell a difference between the two units so they buy the cheaper option. Nowadays that is still part of it, but generic units are so common and popular most people are not aware of the quality brand names anymore and think the generic models are the only types available so those are the ones bought and installed.

    • @ExitSign250
      @ExitSign250  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those are simply generic units rebranded by Exitronix. They also seem to be a bit on the pricy side. I personally wouldn’t spend over $25 for that style of combo.
