Dallas has played well recently, but Seguin out for the season while Robo and Johnston are still struggling in the Pavelski vacuum definitely warrants ok-at-best in the vibes category. We're all waiting for the trade deadline.
I hope so, when Georgie is in net, it could be 4 goals on five shots or 1 goal on 28 shots. He is the most inconsistent goalie in the league and I might need a new liver if he stays as the starter.
@@CamGoldberg3796 He's never close to Vezina. His wins are often the result of the Avs scoring 4+ goals. This season, he is actually negative on saves over expected. I think the Avs save % is 31st in the league. JA may have potential, but he also tends to give up early goals, and often does not stop the bleeding if he goes in in relief of Georgia. That is the same in reverse, too. Last night at least, Wedgewood came in cold, barely having time to introduce himself to the team after the trade, and shut the door for the rest of the game. You could see the Avs skaters gain confidence as the game progressed.
So. Avs need a goalie that is good enough. The goalie doesn't have to be lights out. Just good enough. Avs won with Kuemper, who's not exactly a lights out goalie. He was just good enough. And for Avs fans wanting Gibson, not gonna happen. He has a no trade clause and he's making 6.4 this season. Avs can't afford it and he has to approve the trade anyway
As a Leafs fan, how can anyone argue that I shouldn't be happy as Larry? Everything might come crashing down next week or worse, next playoffs but that happens every year. Worrying never helps. Gotta live in the moment.
With Vancouver. I'm very happy. Considering all the injuries and all the players that have been in and out of the lineup, they've been able to stay afloat and stay in the hunt. DeBrusk has found his game. Pettersson is playing very well, and Quinn Hughes is doing well.
Another dad on my kid's bantam is is a huge Red Wing fan. Angry is a perfect spot for them. He is so flippin angry about Detroit right now. As a Sharks' fan, I just get a double-delight seeing the kids play well and seeing him rage!
I miss the sharks rivalry! You guys deserved a cup. It's a crappy situation but as a whole I have to remind myself the wings have had a lot of glory. They just need a restructure imo
I don't know what psycho has Toronto out of the top row. They're top 5 in points percentage, I think tied for 5 when you made this video. Arguably the best goaltending tandem in the league. Defense looks solid. Matthews is back. This team is good
With the Avs: as a Devils fan, we watched our defense play very different last season, from a lack of goalie confidence, and it hurt all aspects of our game. Can’t send D in to pinch or press, can’t play free in the neutral zone, can’t be aggressive against forecheckers or guys coming across the line. Just hurts everything.
As a ducks fan, I would have probably put them one row down to Panic. Im just not convinced we’ve made a huge stride as apposed to last year. Our offense still feels weak, and we don’t have a clear Star. It just seems very boring, despite the young talent we have. We don’t have that one player who everyone is excited about and is making great plays every game. We are facing two playoff teams back to back, so goodbye to .500. That, and no news on trades despite having over 20 mil in cap space is frustrating. It feels like no one wants to come here.
I personally would've put the Isles in the Anger category. Lou's legendary passivity has singlehandedly put that team in the doldrums, and the fact that there's been zero indication that he's going anywhere has been drawing no small amount of ire from the Isles fanbase. The moves that need to be made simply aren't because Lou refuses to pull the trigger, and as long as he remains sitting in the GM seat, I don't see that team going anywhere.
As a sharks fan I concur! We are estatic which the growth and development of this team with high optimism because we still have 5-6 impact and players developing in the minors. on top of this next year Sharks have a huge amount of cap space. No playoffs this year… but it’s something we can seriously discuss for 25/26.
Definitely know some fans that panicking a little as a Chicago fan, but as you said we were not expecting anything this season realistically. We wanted to be better than last year and have a better team which I think we did not by like 300% but we have improved and are still rebuilding
I'm a Leafs' fan, who's overall happy. The Leafs have been a hearty hockey team, nothing glamorous playing a lunch pail gang style. If they keep working, keep getting wins, and bring this throughout to the playoffs, I'm happy.
With the Avs, I feel like they've been playing every first period with an empty net. And it's hard to be a defenseman when you don't feel your gt is solid back there.
Right on with the jets. This has to change tonight. If they cant get at least 3 goals, not to mention a win, against buffalo tonight, im in panic mode. PERIOD!
Definitely concerned for Carolina. Losing against the panthers and then being dominated by the kraken is not a good look. Things could be worse though. Coach rod didn’t seem too happy.
I think you could make the argument that panic is the first stage of grief, it just passes to denial so quickly that it isn't counted or gets counted as part of denial.
Coming from a Blackhawks fan, I can say confidently that there is a lot of panic from the fan base. Sure we weren’t necessarily expected to be a playoff team, but at this point with all of the moves we made during the offseason, there was certainly an expectation for the team to take that next step forward. And they’ve showed it in a lot of games, including their losses this season that they can hang with some of the better teams in the NHL. And for them to be in last place in the overall standings right now? There’s definitely panic for the future of this organization.
As a Chicago fan, I basically agree with Shannon. With so many of our prospects playing in Rockford right now, it's hard to be too concerned. I just want Richardson to stick with a top line so Bedard can get comfortable with his linemates.
I'm a Bruins fan and watched tonight. The Blackhawks didn't win, but I saw a lot of quality play from them. Their defense corps looks like a thin spot, but overall there seems to be great potential for this team. Hang in there :-)
With the atlantic, is it that Buffalo, Ottawa, Detroit and Montreal aren't getting any better, or is it that Florida, Tampa, Toronto and to a lesser degree Boston get better every year as "destination" clubs?
as a bruins fan, not Boston. You want hard playoffs, its a decent place (assuming they make it, tho im still skeptical) you want a tittle tho? go somewhere else, Bruins dont win championships.
In the times of matchfixing in Polish football (a.k.a. "soccer") we had a coach here, who tasked with saving a particuarly weak team, used to say: "there's nothing to train here, we gotta make some calls" - meaning: I will call my contacts and see if we can fix some results. Seeing that little red phone in the bottom row always makes me crack a smile.
Thanks for the video! Mostly good but I think the Pens might be more concerned because even the four wins doesn't have them in contention. We'll see if you drop them down in a couple of weeks.
Carolina fan- concern mainly in net but I just felt like we didn’t really play well at all against Seattle. They mopped the floor with us. We’ll see what happens when Colorado comes to town.
I might put the Caps in the second row. They have been winning and they are better than last year. However, Ovi is out and while he has started skating, this is the most severe injury of his career. I think the goaltending has been pretty good, though not including the San Jose game, they have been allowing more goals as a team than I'd like to see. Maybe some anger with no Capital being selected for the 4 Nations Face-Off. They're leading the Metro for crying out loud!!
They were a team most people thought would not make the playoffs and are sitting first in the east tonight. Whoever wins between them and Toronto tonight hold will end up first in the east but how can you be upset with that in the slightest. Gotta be top row
i still think it's early enough in the season and considering they were a playoff team last year and they sort of upgraded over the off season smashville should be more in the anger category for attempting to buy chemistry which never works in hockey
Minnesota should be one tier lower on this index as of December 4th for 2 reasons; 1) Jonas Brodin could very easily be out long term if he doesn’t find some back relief, he’s already been out more than 2 weeks. 2) Eriksson Ek could be out medium term after taking a knee on knee yesterday. He’s listed week to week Not even mentioning Zucc who is a few more weeks out, Jacub Lauko who is a few weeks out… Minnesota is basically on life support as far as their starting roster goes. This will test Hynes’ structure like it hasn’t been yet this year. If Gus wasn’t our starting goalie we might be a bubble team at this date, with some of the injuries we’ve accumulated. Hynes already should be looked at as a Adams candidate but if they get through these injuries and stay top 3 in the central he should basically be a heavy lock
I’m not necessarily happy with the Bruins but I’m definitely a little relieved to be back over .500 My second favorite team in Columbus is SO much fun to watch these days, very hopeful for their future!
Wings fan here, yeah lots of anger for sure but slipping into apathy. Until they start winning Little Caesars Arena isn’t getting any more of my money.
Great Video, as usual, Shannon - I think that we can pull My Chicago Blackhawks out of the waiting & move them into a bit of A Panic, given Chicago has Fired Luke Richardson. I don't know if you did this before the Chicago Coaching Change (I hope that you say).
As a Flames fan, I'm happy. No one expected them to do anything this year and all I wanted was to see them be competitive. Even if they do fall off a cliff, we weren't supposed to be good this season anyway.
Fla seems to be somewhat inconsistent. however I would not dismiss them by any means. Flyers are my team and I am not unhappy with them, actually I am slightly surprised. Too many missed opportunities from my point of view.
Chicago is getting annoyed. They'll blow out Dallas 6-2, but then blow 2 goal leads and lose to Philly and Minnesota and blow 2-1 leads against San Jose and Anaheim, all those leads going into the 3rd period. I know this team isn't playoff worthy but come on they should be closer to .500 then they are now with this lineup. I will add an asterisk as 2024 overall for Chicago sports fans has been lets just say.... a bit rough
Definitely agree with Detroit being in Anger position. Can't PK, can't really defend, and the offense is mediocre on good nights. I cannot fathom this roster sometimes, and honestly even with a coaching change I don't know if there is even a "new coach bump". Downgrading from Walman and Gostisbhere to Petry and Gustaffson was a mistake. Edvinsson has been good with Seider, and it seems that Chairot and Holl have stabilized a little. Still need some improvements there. I am okay with the goaltending right now. But my primary concern is the PK and 5on5 offense. Not enough speed and forechecking. Lots of BS dump and pray/go for change boring hockey style and it is losing them games. I would not be surprised to see the Wings in the lottery, along with a negative view shift towards Yzerman at this point. He has had a lot of years to get things worked out, and I know there is a lot of talent in the minors and all that, but that does not help them now when it really matters.
Carolina fan- concern mainly in net but I just felt like we didn’t really play well at all against Seattle. We’ll see what happens when Colorado comes to town.
As far as the game in Calgary was concerned, CBJ looked to me like they hit the emotional wall; everything after that opening goal was taken off the board was just listless. I might've put them a row up until after the game tonight in Edmonton. That's the point at which I'll start being "concerned." Also, as a fan, who cares. This is already so much better than we ever expected. I might look back at this season with some objectivity in April. But for now, no panic whatsoever. The kids are making strides, Werenski is a dark horse Norris candidate. The defense is something like half a goal better in xGA than the past two seasons. Elvis' numbers aren't good but he's passing the eye test.
Panic Index video.. Classic choice, wearing THG Hat & H2G2 jersey. Just need a small NHL logo towel over the shoulder. (one of the small ones players wipe their visors with would work nicely.)
As an Isles fan, I'm definitely in anger mode but never in waiting for a phone call mode. I have seen this team turn it around before and we are close to getting Barzal, Duclair, and Pelech back. If we can weather the storm for a little longer, look out.
I think the main question for the Islanders this year is: Is Cole Eiserman for real or is he Bellows & Wahlstrom chapter 3. If he's the real deal, and I hear he's doing pretty good in the NCAA, there's hope for the future. Does he play one more year in college or does he come up next year?
Zero panic in Carolina and it's really the OK type of "concern" where you always know injuries are possible and playoff spots have to be clinched and never taken for granted. If goalie interference didn't include goalies going outside the crease to shove players, the Canes win that game. Even going .500 for the next two months is fine for Carolina with everything being about how Andersen does on the return.
Thoughts...WPG. I think they are hitting a slide similar to what VGK did last year after an unsustainable start. The Jets don't have any obvious problems, so I think they'll pick it back up soon...On the other hand...CAR... 😒 ...What is so frustrating is that, while they seem to always have an embarrassment of riches on the front line, and often the back as well, they have never - NEVER - invested in top shelf goaltending. I like Kochetkov, but he's still a young guy. He needs to learn behind somebody more polished, and Andersen (when he's available) to me is not that guy...LAK. Man, whatever the Kings did after that sputtering start worked. Solid everywhere now...SJS. I was saying earlier in the season that once they got Celebrini chemically involved in the offense that it would, more than anything, change the way opponents' defenses play the Sharks - opening up far more holes at the net. The same way McDavid effs with defenses, Celebrini does the same. He'll be a fountain of assists going forward, and he has complimentary parts around him as well...I am done...
The Red Wings are absolutely anger inducing right now. I've never seen a team of theirs with potential be so gutless night after night. Yzerman is looking more and more like a fraud.
@TheHockeyGuy Shannon, I agree with almost everything you posted for you panic index. Only ones I'm wavering on not are the Kings (overachieving) and Avalanche (have the horses to improve in the standings)... 1000% agreement are where you put the Rangers. If they are not in panic mode, when will they? I say if they lose at least 2 of the next 3 games. I was already saying through the last 4 games through Monday's embarrassing loss to the Devils, still nothing has been done yet. Fan frustration will boil over if the Rangers drop ALL of their upcoming games to the Penguins, Kraken and Blackhawks. Sure is possible. And IF it does, it will get really really ugly. Maybe benchings, Chris Drury losing his job or Peter Laviolette losing his. I don't support a coaching change.
Honestly feels like the kings have been underachieving standings wise considering how many games they’ve lost against bottom feeder teams. They seem to play very well against top tier teams which is good
With the mindset of this finally being the drop off year for Boston, they haven’t been doing too bad minus a couple rough games. Still like their cores chance to turn it around
I understand the desire to have Chicago in the East, even if I can't find a realignment to do that that makes sense. However, no matter how you align the conferences, they will only be in one division.
I feel like the Canes collectively may have been quietly battling a bout of illness, because the energy was completely back against the Avs compared to the Kraken.
I have mild concern for Minnesota. There are some significant injuries piling up. But that said the underachievers are overachieving this year. It's still hard for me to believe that the team is as good as their record. Next year may be bonkers for the Wild!
A scolding Homer Simpson face for the, “I’m disappointed in you boy!” category and the Rangers shield prominently and maybe permanently magnetized therein. Just a thought.
as a leafs fan, the leafs definitely are not panicking. seems like berube lit a fire under their ass, well that and it being a contract year for tavares and marner, they're playing great.
If the Sharks continue performing above expected, there is no reason to move them from the top row. That being said, If they go on a long losing streak and start getting blown out....It's anger. Going to the game tomorrow in Tampa. I have high hopes for a win/close defeat. I went last year and expected nothing and came away with a win in OT.
Panthers need a better Top 4 D-man. Adam Boqvist and Schmidt aren't exactly OEL and Montour replacements. I may be wrong, but do not be surprised if the Panthers take a D-man during the trade deadline, and maybe even a forward like Tarasenko.
As a Wild fan. I’m enjoying the moment but there is a little bit of panic as it’s minnesota sports. it has to come crashing down right? Add the presidency trophy curse and we have to be swept in the first round. Whatever. I’ll enjoy it while I can.
The Flyers should always be in the concerned slot, no matter how well they're doing. Sincerely, a cautiously optimistic Flyers fan with more cautiousness than optimism...
Ducks fans are feeling ok on average. The NHL .500 thing is interesting because every win causes elation, and every loss has people clamoring for Cronin to be fired. With the swings up and down between wins and losses, we end up feeling somewhere in the middle on average.
I'm definitely concerned about the Avs goaltending. I'm not sure what they're going to do about it. Georgiev has been very inconsistent. Wedgewood looked good (in the one game he's played so far). I expect that they're still looking at the goalie market but idk if there's anything better out there.
Depends on what they can get. There's probably some goalies out there that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, depending on the team. Maybe Talbot from the Red Wings. He's always been solid
Good rankings, pretty in-tune in my opinion. Definitely agreed on the anger and phones, though I could see arguements for NYI in panic instead, or anger, for that matter. Panic in Colorado and Rangers fans I could see, though I don't think current wild-card standing merits panic -- more concern to me. But I'm not a fan of either team, so *shrug.* The concern ones I get, though with Philadelphia and Columbus I'd note they're playing above expectations anyway, so I don't think unless it gets really ugly that they fall anywhere lower other than phones. Happy ones I can't debate. All the Western teams in the OK category I understand being there. The most curious is Anaheim, which to me is flirting with a point like the hapless Atlantic trio certainly no later than sometime in 2025 of, "So when does this actually get better in the 82-game result?" Maybe we are seeing that this year, though the roster has a good amount of talent on that AHL-NHL cusp, both old and young. There's some confusion and murkiness around Anaheim to me, and I'm not sure whether it's that Ottawa and Buffalo kind or the Detroit kind or the post-Kesler-Game-7-shenanigans Oilers kind. What to do about Zegras, Fowler, and Gibson? Those are important decisions for the mid-term direction, which should be playoffs. Bruins have to be OK given a solid fourth-place cushion and a wild card, though that could turn to concern fast. And I get the Penguins being OK for the past week of results, but man, having watched those games, it's part that, part concern, part anger (first team to allow 100 goals this season), part pining for the phone and overhaul that feels like it might never come. That meme that aged Crosby, Malkin, and Letang from the outdoor photo hits all too hard.

Dallas has played well recently, but Seguin out for the season while Robo and Johnston are still struggling in the Pavelski vacuum definitely warrants ok-at-best in the vibes category. We're all waiting for the trade deadline.
I'm hoping Dallas can make a deal before prices go up at the deadline
Havent been this happy to be a sharks fan since 2019.
Havebt even hit a decade yet..still brewing- signed an oilers fan😂
The Scott Wedgewood era has arrived in Denver.
I hope so, when Georgie is in net, it could be 4 goals on five shots or 1 goal on 28 shots. He is the most inconsistent goalie in the league and I might need a new liver if he stays as the starter.
@ Vézina or AHL
@timdowney6721 No. Its either Georgie plays like a Vezina candidate or like an AHL goalie. There's no in between
Haha!! 😂
I thought that Nashville would be playing better than this, considering what they added in the off-season.
Lou and the special teams coaches have to go
As a sharks fan I concur! We are estatic which the growth and development of this team with high optimism because we still have 5-6 impact and players developing in the minors. on top of this next year Sharks have a huge amount of cap space. No playoffs this year… but it’s something we can seriously discuss for 25/26.
I think, for this season at least, Utah deserves its own category as far as fans are concerned: Happy to Be Here.
Feeling is kinda mutual. Georgie doesn't trust the defense and he tries to hard.
@@soulknife20and vice versa. the second he is pulled they play a different game
yeah man like im getting frustrated with the ”bad d” argument. 5v5 theyre a top10 team in scoring chance%
@@Nathanielhiggerson66Yeah. It's a vicious circle.
@Nathanielhiggerson66 Overall yeah. But watching the games, they have the worst lapses at the wrong time.
SHARKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great stuff as always
LGW!!!! LETS GO WILD!!!!
Watching this video after my team gets shut out by Montreal
I think you could make the argument that panic is the first stage of grief,
it just passes to denial so quickly that it isn't counted or gets counted as part of denial.
Hang in there :-)
i would put flyers in happy because they have played well 😄
Jets fans be like ✈️🔥☠️
Flames ahead of the oilers in the standings enough to make me happy lol
@@generalimlerith8356 as a Panthers fan, me too
That's how oil is supposed to burn!

Go Flames Go!
@ hell yeah 🔥

Hey! Don't panic! Love the sweater Shannon! Where'd you pick that up? I might have to grab one for myself. I love Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Colorado is the Panickiest of all panic right now
Minnesota should be one tier lower on this index as of December 4th for 2 reasons;
1) Jonas Brodin could very easily be out long term if he doesn’t find some back relief, he’s already been out more than 2 weeks.
2) Eriksson Ek could be out medium term after taking a knee on knee yesterday. He’s listed week to week
Not even mentioning Zucc who is a few more weeks out, Jacub Lauko who is a few weeks out…
Minnesota is basically on life support as far as their starting roster goes.
Find myself overly distracted with a desire to find that Mythbusters Bull in a china shop clip.
I’m not necessarily happy with the Bruins but I’m definitely a little relieved to be back over .500
My second favorite team in Columbus is SO much fun to watch these days, very hopeful for their future!
You're NOT old. From a 77.
As a Flames fan, I'm happy. No one expected them to do anything this year and all I wanted was to see them be competitive. Even if they do fall off a cliff, we weren't supposed to be good this season anyway.
@5:25 THG asks "Is there anger in Nashville, is there panic in Nashville?" I dunno, but I can say there is no joy in Mudville.
I will add an asterisk as 2024 overall for Chicago sports fans has been lets just say.... a bit rough
Thank you.
The Canes were worse than awful against the Kraken but a correct call on goalie interference and the final score is probably 4-2 Carolina.
@ precisely. Goaltending is always a major concern with this team it seems
Ek is week to week. Wild fans are entering the panic zone
Brodin, Zucc, Ek all weeks out. No way we’re on the top of this chart. Tier 2 or 3 easily
@@RRaquello Give him one more year. He will be a good one.
I would consider bargaining to be the panic aspect in the stages of grief
The Red Wings are absolutely anger inducing right now. I've never seen a team of theirs with potential be so gutless night after night. Yzerman is looking more and more like a fraud.
As a Wings fan I can confirm.. ANGERY
They seem to play very well against top tier teams which is good
@@unique_package5370 Your expectations of the Kings is way too high.
Great channel. Go Sharks!
As a Wild fan, the only thing I'm concerned about right now is that Ek is week-to-week. It's even worse because he's on my fantasy team.
as a leafs fan, the leafs definitely are not panicking. seems like berube lit a fire under their ass, well that and it being a contract year for tavares and marner, they're playing great.
I may be wrong, but do not be surprised if the Panthers take a D-man during the trade deadline, and maybe even a forward like Tarasenko.
im waiting for chicago draft pick but at this point that will probs be blacked out too
There should be a Dumpster Fire category for Detroit, Buffalo and Nashville :-)
As a Wild fan. I’m enjoying the moment but there is a little bit of panic as it’s minnesota sports. it has to come crashing down right? Add the presidency trophy curse and we have to be swept in the first round. Whatever. I’ll enjoy it while I can.
The Flyers should always be in the concerned slot, no matter how well they're doing. Sincerely, a cautiously optimistic Flyers fan with more cautiousness than optimism...
THANKS
What an awesome Jersey!
But I'm not a fan of either team, so *shrug.*
The concern ones I get, though with Philadelphia and Columbus I'd note they're playing above expectations anyway, so I don't think unless it gets really ugly that they fall anywhere lower other than phones.
