    Great save. Sounds like some blockage in your fuel pickup line. Sometimes that happens after a rough trip that stir up all the sediments o in the fuel tank. I had that experience at the wrong place and time. Hope you get it working

      Thanks so much for watching and that is a great prognosis, that’s exactly what we think it is. We ran really low on fuel on that passage and think all the dirt has kicked up from the tank into the pipes… Big learning curve, but so glad it didn’t end in disaster!!

      It really does! Certainly a test of our patience! We keep pushing through though and are so grateful for this life, even with its low moments. Thank you so much ☺️

    Hope things come good soon with that engine. There's that crappy saying 'whatever doesn't kill you makes you deeply cynical but well adjusted to deal with really annoying stuff". I'm sure you'll be on your way in no time. It's probably linked to your boat being pushed around as she hasn't been before. Tanks, filters, filth and stuff. Tereba Nessa (Cornish unless someone's pulling my leg).

      That’s definitely our new motto!! 😅 it’s definitely been trying but we push through and come away with more experience and knowledge. So onwards and upwards! ☺️ You are definitely right there, heeled over and hitting some big swell certainly kicked everything up! Thanks so much for watching and for the support ☺️

    Another action packed episode, hopefully the engine issue wasn't too serious and you've been able to find the fault. All looked very tense at times onboard, hopefully the weather improved and you had a window to continue your journey. Looking forward to your next video hopefully without any further engine problems.

      Thanks so much for this great comment! We are so glad you enjoy the episode and follow our journey. It was pretty scary, but we are just pleased we managed to get Indiana secured quickly without causing any damage to us or any other boats! Fingers crossed for fair winds and smooth seas and yes definitely less engine issues 😂

    I haven't bought my (first) boat yet. One worry (among hundreds) that I have is that I'll be constantly feeling apprehensive about the next anticipated sailing challenge. I wonder how long it'll take to become at least slightly blase about routine boating manoeuvers?

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  ปีที่แล้ว

      We still feel apprehensive every time we take the boat out! We think it’s healthy be never get blasé if possible and that an amount of apprehension remains, to make sure you’re paying attention and taking it all seriously☺️ As long as that feeling never stops you from going sailing, you’ll be fine. Once we’re out there we feel great and remember why we love this life so much!🙌🏼

    Disconnect the battery before doing the starting motor ?

      Yes!! (Forgot to mention that bit😬)… We have an isolator switch that we can turn off the connection with 👍🏼

    Safety first , you only do what your happy with ,not just entertainment for us viewers , your doing great , by the way parts for engines , where you bought some of your parts during engine strip down do a Bosch starter motor for 125 quid, keep the painted nails coming

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks David!! That’s actually something we’ve thought about before, imagining being in a position where you are doing things just because you need to film it, or risking safety just to ‘get the shot’. Something we’re staying conscious of!
      Great info RE the starter motor! The one we’ve replaced it with isn’t great for long term, so will definitely have a look at the Bosch one now.

    Hopefully a simple fuel issue , we met a guy in Campbeltown this year who had a similar problem, think he used a marine 16 or similar product to dose the tank , all the best

    I was wearing the backpack on my back and went overboard on our dinghy with my backpack.... and as you can imagine - my phone was there... Rice did not help and I lost my phone. Surprisingly - that was really hard to deal with... They are so personal, our phones now. And even though it was just a phone, just a thing, it was just awful to loose it like that. Like I lost a part of myself.

      This is so true, it’s crazy how much we depend on our phones now, our whole lives are on them!! So lucky that Lauren had her phone and we could find a phone shop and communicate with friends and family via her… Definitely being more careful now🙏🏼

      @@SailingIndiana Absolutely! Marcin's phone could accommodate my SIM card, which was luckily working, so that was great as well. But I had to go without a phone for more than a week... I must admit, after 2 days I stopped missing it 💁It is shocking to realise how depend we are on our phones 😱

    ... "boat maintenance in beautiful places" ... marvelous definition of cruising ... love it ....
    ... also, being from the States (Ohio in the past right next to the state of Indiana), I've been wondering how Indiana got her name ...
    ... thank you for taking us along on your adventures ...and since I can't get out and about, you guys make this old man's day ... fair winds and following seas ...

    What an awful moment to have your engine fail. Whenever I'm under power I always try to have a plan of action in my head of what to do if the engine suddenly dies...but coming in or out of a berth in the marina doesn't leave many options so well done! I hope the engine fix is simple enough, maybe to do with that air leak? Onwards and upwards as they say!

    • @SailingIndiana
      @SailingIndiana  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, same here! Underway you have plan b’s like drop anchor have the sails up! Thank god there wasn’t any wind so we didn’t drift far and managed to jump off to get a line on at the last moment. Phew! Onwards and upwards definitely! 🙌🏼

      I am going for the air leak theory to resolve cliffhanger, could be in line between tank and primary pump, if it primes itself without need to bleed system. Wouldn't be disastrous on a car, but a boat is different matter, any problem at just wrong time can cause a scary moment.

    • @guyonaboat

      @@chrisyarnold6205 I'd be cheating if I guessed as I know what's wrong.
      However, yes you are right with the 'slow to start' issue, there was a tiny leak on the fuel system (between lift pump & injection pump). It is also very likely that the injector lines are not quite seating properly - they have been apart so many times now!
      This engine cut was fuel starvation
