Brought this one after I watched Carlos and Tiffany review it. women were around the Macy's counter smelling this fragrance. I got one of the few last bottles left on the counter. the women love this fragrance so much. it's a compliment monster. I have gotten so many compliments from this fragrance.
After starting my fragrance journey at the start of 2021 I have acquired 40 blind buys of designer fragrance bottles as well as about 35 samples ranging from designer to mostly niche. Finally, I tried Acqua di Gio Absolu. I was hesitant because it doesn't really get too great of review. Well, I finally got it and the opening is "meh". It's really nothing special. BUT as I got to the dry down I kept smelling this amazing scent emanating from my arms as they moved about. I took a nice whiff of where I sprayed my arm and OMG is it so good!!! The dry down is where Absolu really shines! It's this creamy woodiness with just the hint of sweetness. After trying so many different fragrances I have finally found my new signature fragrance and I couldn't be happier!!!
I absolutely love my Abslo... I got 2 compliments this morning and while it's not ground breaking... It's just damn good and smells good. If someone wants something unique they won't find it here but if you want to smell good there's really zero wrong, it just smells great. And the performance I find to be surprising, I can smell it all day pretty much. Definitely one of my favorites... It makes me want Absolu Instinct even more when I wear this.
I like the smell. It is like sweet with a fresh smell so when you spray it on and it’s on you for a while pple will think it’s your natural smell, because it’s not like a nasty strong smell

Thank you for the great review. I purchased this yesterday and wore it today at work ( paramedic ). Its smells awesome. 2 sprays is all that is required. It is a stronger GA in my opinion, especially in close contact with other people. Many compliments at work. But have to be careful with scent free workplace..imagine having to resuscitate a patient due to anaphylaxis from my parfum lol 😊😊. Definitely has Invictus notes present. Thanks again Steven. I absolutely love this channel. Out of all the reviewers out there, The manner in which its described is the most accurate. Appreciate that. This is one great fragrance. I don't understand at all the hate it gets. Like I'm trying to find the negatives on this. The blend of fruits were so well done. That Alberto Morillas is a genius. Anything he puts together is usually a masterpiece. I wonder if he knows it's gonna be a masterpiece and includes that in whatever fee he gets paid. I know it's in the dozens that i check on the perfumer and see his name. I have to check out if he's got some niche scents.
Just went and tested this. It's been an hour since I sprayed my hand and leather jacket. I say it smells real nice on my leather jacket. Still smell it pretty good and it's about 20 degrees outside. I definitely like it a lot and may get it. I think it goes good with a leather jacket my opinion. People are still in love with the Profumo which I love but that is still really popular almost too popular for my taste. This is still new, so I'm gonna jump on this fragrance.
ADG Absolu has possible the best dry down on my skin that I have ever smelled. The opening..meh. The mid...meh. It's that drydown 'on skin' starting about 2 hours after application. My god!! So good!!
I've always loved the original ADG. But I absolutely love this new one. The notes do tend to be a bit different, which is what got me so into it after the first smell. I just wish the price wasn't so high. Eventually I'll own it lol

Similar to invictus Acqua, however, I think Absolu is a better scent overall. Not as powerful as invictus and not as salty. Seems to me that Absolu is the more mature, more refined version of invictus Acqua. OG AdG is great, summer, fresh, spray as much as you want scent. ADG Profumo - great mature work scent with the OG’s DNA that can be a signature scent from shorts to tuxedo. Absolu - fruity, playful, mass appealing, go anywhere do anything scent (except formal) I enjoy them all. Have them all. Great designer line, much like Bleu de Chanel.
Steven great review as always, you are always my go to when reviewing a fragrance before trying. Just my opinion on this one: I really like it! I know it’s gotten a bit of a bad rap for whatever reason but I’ve gotten non stop compliments this last week wearing it. Girls have all loved it and I even with a few people sprayed it on one hand and ADG promo on the other and they all liked absolute better. I’m realky enjoying it and it’s perfect for summer especially.

I think I’m the only one out there who is not a fan of Profumo (like the smell, but after 2 hours I get completely sick of it). To me this is like they mixed the original ADG with code (I used to layer these all the time when I was younger) and added fruit throughout. It’s my favorite of the ADGs

I have the original Invictus Aqua which I wear during spring/summer. This one has a similar vibe but perfect for cooler fall weather because of the sweetness. Not a powerhouse but lasts long enough for me, and friends & coworkers give compliments every time I wear it.

It has a patchouli that's rounded or wrapped around the ampped up freshness that is the freshness u get from profumo which I really like if that makes since. In profumo you can clearly smell the patchouli it's its own note in absolu it's blended into the freshness but imo it's the amped up freshness you get from profumo with some woods I really like it better than profumo just a little both are really good
Definitely going to check this one out. I for one really like the sweet style fragrances that are coming out lately. One Million Lucky is still my favorite at this moment. Great review as always man.
I just tried this at Nordstrom, sprayed some in my arm and after smelling it for a while somehow it kind of reminds of the Boss The Scent fragrance which I own. I might be wrong but I feel a similar vibe. I like the smell of this one.I might get it in the near future. Love your videos they are always a good reference for fragrances that I'm yet to try. I was a big fan of Absolu when I bought it. I went to the store and wanted something rustic, exact word I used. They suggested this. I had already been a fan of the original Acqua Di Gio, so this made sense. I am on the look out for something different now though, I am thinking about getting a bottle of Dior Sauvage, I want something earthy and apparently that has it. Got a big date coming up soon.
My favorite as of right now is Armani Code Profumo. What a wonderful rich scent that is. Smelled Aqua Di Gio absolu in a magazine and it's in the cross hairs for my next purchase. Could be my second favorite.
Essenza does not get the credit it deserves. On me, it’s beast mode and it always garners me compliments. I’m stockpiling any chance I come across it. Since it’s been discontinued it’s getting harder and harder to find. To top it off, the price is being jacked up.
I had Essenza when it was released. It was good but something about it to me felt/smelt a bit sour? I'm not sure what it was. This was after wearing for a couple of months. I wore it in any season so maybe that was the issue.
It is a matter of personal opinion, but I found this one to have a cloying sweetness with assertive citrus peel that reminds me almost of a household cleaner. Your assessment was spot on, there is some classic metallic clean ocean under there, but fatally dominated by that candied citrus peel. Not horrible, but not my cup of tea. I also completely agree with the versatility is good, maybe a bit safe and generic for my taste. Cheers

Steve - You know I've been a fan of your reviews for a long time and I'm also on the batch code bandwagon in that I feel it's nearly the most important part of the review due to reformulations of nearly everything. *In the last two years I've discovered that even more important is the formula code that's on all the boxes under or on the last line of the ingredients.* If all reviewers, including yourself would have been providing that for the last decade, someone like myself could have created a database with all known formula codes for every fragrance. This would provided a quick lookup table of dates and amounts of formulations. Sites like Raiders of the Lost Scent catalog formula codes for some Dior titles like Dior Homme Intense but not everything. Too often, video presentations state "there's some writing on the box" and that's it for the presentation"! The box contains the current name of the bottler, batch code and formula code. For a hot fragrance, 5 years down the line that becomes the most salient part of a review!

I commend Giorgio Armani for trying something different to them, but in that it ended being close to other releases. I really got an AZZARO WANTED DNA with a hint on the freshness from Invictus Aqua. Great review Steven! Loved your take on this!👍👍
I got the original ADG when it came out but got tired of it when it became too popular. I didn't buy any fragrance by Armani for years and it was only recently that I got Stronger With You and the ADG Profumo Special Blend. I don't think I need to get the Absolu.
The releases of 2018 that I have enjoyed the most this year have been Hugo Boss The Scent Private Accord, Bleu de Chanel Parfum, and Azzaro Wanted by Night. Bleu is versatile and for all occasions, Boss is for playful and casual scenarios, and Azzaro is for the nightlife (clubbing, bar hopping, etc.)

I initially didn't think I would like it based upon the opening, but smelled it on my workmate and could definitely pick up a slight hint of the original dna. Was pleasantly surprised.
Just the bottle seems like my kinda fragrance. Just the color of the bottle is something i use. I have smelled before and I did love it but haven't smelled it in awhile. I'll smell it again soon and if I still love it then it's going in my collection. I also love Emporio Armani Stronger With You as well, which is almost the same color. I love the Profumo and original as well. Personally I love Armani rather it's Acqua or Emporio.
Honestly speaking it smells almost similar to CHANNEL ALLURE HOMME SPORT EAU EXTREME Coz both the dry down are almost the same What would you say about this ??
With the "absolu" tag and the color, I was expecting some dark or earthy elements. Sounds somewhat redundant if it's like Invictus Aqua because as you said in the video, many brands are coming up with frags going in that direction.

I like emporio armani him NIGHT, its actually an example (what you mentioned in this video) of the trend of sweetness that flankers are going for and Armani did it more than a decade ago! 2 Bad its discontinued
Great review of ADG Absolu.Personally i like it too.But my favourite would still be essenza followed by the original and then absolu.Profumo & special blend i dont really fancy. There also is a blue edition that came out some time ago but ive never smelled it or seen it and ive not heard anyone talking about it as well.so if u manage to get your hands on the blue edition,please do a review on that as well.Thanks 😊👍🏼
Hey Steven very informative video as usual. I have an unrelated question. I have been away from my house for about 2 months and live in a cold climate. The temperatures often gets down to around 37 degrees for prolonged periods inside my home where my fragrances are stored. Will this negatively effect my fragrances?
Gerald Davis I think generally cool is better for the fragrances than hot. I have even heard of guys in hot climates putting their fragrances in a mini fridge to keep them from breaking down in the summer.
I was at a fragrance store and I quickly got my nose on ADG Absolu & Absolu Instinct. I don’t remember which, but one smelled good and another was really gross.

Essenza is discontinued ? I cant find 75ml or 125ml bottles
75ml are easy to find I've never seen the 125ml i normally get the 180ml which are tough to find right now

Essenza does not get the credit it deserves. On me, it’s beast mode and it always garners me compliments. I’m stockpiling any chance I come across it. Since it’s been discontinued it’s getting harder and harder to find. To top it off, the price is being jacked up.

I had Essenza when it was released. It was good but something about it to me felt/smelt a bit sour? I'm not sure what it was. This was after wearing for a couple of months. I wore it in any season so maybe that was the issue.
I sold my 2016 Paco invictus aqua and I like this one better and funny I bought the 2018 aqua and it's not the same as 2016 but smells ok

It is a matter of personal opinion, but I found this one to have a cloying sweetness with assertive citrus peel that reminds me almost of a household cleaner. Your assessment was spot on, there is some classic metallic clean ocean under there, but fatally dominated by that candied citrus peel. Not horrible, but not my cup of tea. I also completely agree with the versatility is good, maybe a bit safe and generic for my taste. Cheers

Loved the smell, Best smelling from the line, sadly does not last on my skin for more than 1.5 hrs. That broke my heart :(

Wife likes dis says its a 10/10 i prefer profumo. Like your input especially as it compares to other flankers n the market today

Steve - You know I've been a fan of your reviews for a long time and I'm also on the batch code bandwagon in that I feel it's nearly the most important part of the review due to reformulations of nearly everything. *In the last two years I've discovered that even more important is the formula code that's on all the boxes under or on the last line of the ingredients.* If all reviewers, including yourself would have been providing that for the last decade, someone like myself could have created a database with all known formula codes for every fragrance. This would provided a quick lookup table of dates and amounts of formulations. Sites like Raiders of the Lost Scent catalog formula codes for some Dior titles like Dior Homme Intense but not everything.
Too often, video presentations state "there's some writing on the box" and that's it for the presentation"! The box contains the current name of the bottler, batch code and formula code. For a hot fragrance, 5 years down the line that becomes the most salient part of a review!

I commend Giorgio Armani for trying something different to them, but in that it ended being close to other releases. I really got an AZZARO WANTED DNA with a hint on the freshness from Invictus Aqua. Great review Steven! Loved your take on this!👍👍

I got the original ADG when it came out but got tired of it when it became too popular. I didn't buy any fragrance by Armani for years and it was only recently that I got Stronger With You and the ADG Profumo Special Blend. I don't think I need to get the Absolu.

The releases of 2018 that I have enjoyed the most this year have been Hugo Boss The Scent Private Accord, Bleu de Chanel Parfum, and Azzaro Wanted by Night. Bleu is versatile and for all occasions, Boss is for playful and casual scenarios, and Azzaro is for the nightlife (clubbing, bar hopping, etc.)

I initially didn't think I would like it based upon the opening, but smelled it on my workmate and could definitely pick up a slight hint of the original dna. Was pleasantly surprised.
Just the bottle seems like my kinda fragrance. Just the color of the bottle is something i use. I have smelled before and I did love it but haven't smelled it in awhile. I'll smell it again soon and if I still love it then it's going in my collection. I also love Emporio Armani Stronger With You as well, which is almost the same color. I love the Profumo and original as well. Personally I love Armani rather it's Acqua or Emporio.
Honestly speaking it smells almost similar to CHANNEL ALLURE HOMME SPORT EAU EXTREME

With the "absolu" tag and the color, I was expecting some dark or earthy elements. Sounds somewhat redundant if it's like Invictus Aqua because as you said in the video, many brands are coming up with frags going in that direction.

I like emporio armani him NIGHT, its actually an example (what you mentioned in this video) of the trend of sweetness that flankers are going for and Armani did it more than a decade ago! 2 Bad its discontinued
Great review of ADG Absolu.Personally i like it too.But my favourite would still be essenza followed by the original and then absolu.Profumo & special blend i dont really fancy. There also is a blue edition that came out some time ago but ive never smelled it or seen it and ive not heard anyone talking about it as well.so if u manage to get your hands on the blue edition,please do a review on that as well.Thanks 😊👍🏼

Hey Steven very informative video as usual. I have an unrelated question. I have been away from my house for about 2 months and live in a cold climate. The temperatures often gets down to around 37 degrees for prolonged periods inside my home where my fragrances are stored. Will this negatively effect my fragrances?
Gerald Davis I think generally cool is better for the fragrances than hot. I have even heard of guys in hot climates putting their fragrances in a mini fridge to keep them from breaking down in the summer.
Not a big fan of this fragrance but I still want it in my collection. Great review as always!
I was at a fragrance store and I quickly got my nose on ADG Absolu & Absolu Instinct. I don’t remember which, but one smelled good and another was really gross.
