- Hi folks,
Here's a cassette recorder from 1985. In this video, I unbox the original contents, open up the unit for inspection & service - and then record it for you to hear the sound. I was seriously impressed by the sound, and I think you may be too.

Just bought this same unit today on FB marketplace, 20$ in perfect shape with manual. Cool little unit, reminds me of grandmas house. Simple to hook up, i have a 5 disc dvd player, used the rca cables to plug into the aux port and away it went. Im 26 and i really enjoy the old sound quality and my grandparents personal recorded collection of mix tapes.
That's great! You got a real bargain there. There's something about the sound of the old units that bring back fond memories. Thanks for watching 👍
Not a bad little tape deck-certainly a lot better than what you can get nowadays !!
Thanks for watching. And yes - a lovely little deck. Portable, light, but easy to use and nice sounding :)
currently looking at one of these on ebay, like the squat little design of these units.
They are pretty well made and sound good too. Not a bad choice for a discreet unit. Thanks for watching. 👍
nice job and nice machine!!!!!!!!!
Thanks as always! Sounds a lot better than I expected!
Would it be possible for you to scan the schematic page of this manual and make it available? I have one of these that needs repair (quiet audio). I tried screen-grabbing the schematic from your video but it's too blurry to read all the component values. The manual doesn't appear to be online anywhere. Thanks!
Thanks for watching.
Sorry, but I have subsequently sold the unit. I had meant to scan a copy beforehand, but the sale was a bit sudden and I never got the chance - or else I would gladly have done it for you. Regards
I have noticed you made an error in the routing of the counter belt. you have it dragging over the eject linkage. At 16:31 you can see the spacing of the belt is huge. it should only have approximately 12mm looking at one I have here.
You are right to mention it. As you say, it got snagged up, and I didn't notice until I put the video out. The correct routing should make the belt lines run parallel. Thanks for watching.
I have two of these decks now. But one of them gives no sound signal. I brought it to a repair guy that wasn't realy keen on reparing it. But I still hope he does a decent job. 😬
Nice to have a pair! And they're fairly straightforward, so I'm sure your guy will fix it up ok. Worse case, you always have a spare for the mechanical parts. Thanks for watching 👍
